we're going to fight for every vote in every state, we're going to fight for real solutions that make a real difference in people's lives. lukas: water quality in iowa has been a hot topic as of late. controversy over hot topic as of late. controversy over how to regulate agricultural practices to protect water quality in iowa is again taking center stage. " how many more billions can we spend, without seeing any real progress without changing the approach? study say what's being done by farmers to protect our rivers... isn't experts on the northwest iowa biggest challenge is getting producers their options. abc9 news plue tells us more. "i think everybody sees degraded water quality but we are hoping to make enprovements and by giving the farmers educating, and providing tools for implementing, it'd help with improving water quality," says

coordinator for the wqi project in the headwaters of the north raccoon. watershed project coordinator, anita patrick, said theres a variety of tools farmers can use when trying to improve water conservation. while many of the tools and practices are readily available, patrick says the biggest challenge is getting those informed..and united. "we do recognize that farmers can do their part and we are focusing on equipting local farmers and producers and landowners with tools that help them make environmentally sound decisions," says patrick from choosing to implement cover crops like winter hardy cereal rye or perenial grasses to utilizing nitrogen sensing technology, patrick assures landowners that there's a conservation method for every situation, it's just a matter of choosing the right one. "with the watershed management plan, we hope to prioritize different conservation practices and match them up to different locations," says patrick. patrick doesn't believe that making mandatory laws governing farming practices would be effective since all farm lands are different and require a different set of standards. "we recognize that every oporation is different and there's no one single practice that's going to fit the issues. it's going to take a whole suit of practices, it's going to take cooperation, everybody to make it work," says patrick. lukas: and that study is not associated with an ongoing legal battle lukas:

neighborhood is causing an uproar. several siouxlanders living in the morningside area gathered at city hall to attend the board of adjustments meeeting... speaking out against the proposed tower. the board of adjustment was asked by city council to take another look at a recent vote by city planning and zoning... approving a conditional construction permit for the cell tower. concerned citizens say they viewed the meeting as a chance to present evidence opposing the project this wouldve been their last opportunity to presend eveidence, however the board did not allow them another hearing , their previous decision was final. not sit well with neighbors meeting. there is a long list of reasons they don't want the towers in their backyard. lukas one of siouxland's oldest non-profit organizations is celebrating a special anniversary. the ymca of siouxland...known now as the norm waitt sr. ymca, has been a staple in the siouxland community for one hundred and

planning commission and madison county board of commissioners approved one and six-year street and road plans tuesday morning. the city plan includes reconstruction of the bridge on east norfolk avenue and the county plan 16 roads projects and 19 structure replacements. many norfolk public schools students undoubtedly enjoyed a couple of days off last week due to the blizzard - the second and third snow days this school year. but at monday night's meeting of the board of education, superintendent, dr. jami jo thompson reminded students and parents that board policy requires that if the district declares more than three snow days, it must make up two days at the end of the year. norfolk junior and senior high school students will get to help tell the story of their home town's first 150 years. the students are currently working on a book with the working title "norfolk from a to z." english students are doing the research and art students are providing the illustrations. those and more stories can be heard on news talk wjag, lite rock 97.5 and 106 kix. lukas still to come... we've got a great recipe for you and it fits right in with lent ...

wednesday... and millions of people will be eating fish today. so howard has a recipe that is so good... it will make you feel like fish in the water. "with today being ash wednesday, christians around the world are receiving ashes to recognize the beginning of lent. and beyond the many observances that take place during this time, many of you will be eating a lot more fish. so to help keep things exciting, we came up with a new fish dish that i know you're gonna love. we start off by cutting about a pound and a half of fish fillets into individual portions. or even easier . you can buy them pre- portioned from the freezer case. we lay them on a baking dish, and set them aside for a sec while we mix together some sour cream, parmesan cheese, paprika and a little salt and pepper. now we spoonhis over each fillet and finish them off with a bit of italian breadcrumbs. this is gonna add a ton of flavor. right before popping these in the oven we drizzle on some melted butter and that's it. and if you're wondering "what's the best fish to use", we like a mild white fish like, cod, haddock or farm- raised catfish. when this comes out of the oven, piping hot, you'll get the creaminess of the sour cream blended with the parmesan, which is one amazing combo. it's so good, i hope you'll go online and get the recipe for our, "sour cream crowned fish fillets" so you'll have a new way to keep things interesting. i'm howard in the mr. food test kitchen, where today we found a "flavor- packed way" for you to say .
