to travel to countries where zika has been identified. abc 9's christina gri-hall-va has more on what you should know. christina tim and jenna-- pregnant women are becoming more concerned about the outbreak-- because the virus can not only affect them-- but their unborn babies as well. the zika virus-- a disease commonly found in south and central america-- is raising some questions here in the u-s. now-- with cases of the virus being reported in 19 states-- pregnant women are being told not to travel abroad-- so they do not risk being infected and passing it on to their unborn babies. the recent outbreak has received attention from expectant mothers in sioux city. "this particular time of year, during the middle of winter, people at least the questions i've got are more interest. " the virus is passed through mosquito bites-- and with the winter weather-- the risk for infection-- in the area-- are very low. "the main thing is for mosquito control, uh if you conrol the

infection is going to be limited. and at least in this particular case, the likelyhood of a wide spread outbreak in this country is prettty low." dr. fleming-- being the only perinatologist in sioux city-- deals with high risk pregnancies-- and says this virus could cause major complecations during a pregnancy. "the main concern for the pregnant patient of course would be concerns about birth deffects, particularly microcephaly, which is a small head size and that is something that can be readily diagnosed through ultra sound." his opinion-- avoid the problem-- all together. "my best advice, don'tgo. if you don't getet bit by a mosquito, you're not gonna get the condition." even though researchers are a couple of years vaccine-- dr. fleming believes the chances of disease becoming a huge problem in the u-s -- are low. eye-- which can last several days to a week. the c-d-c have issued travel notices for those traveling to certain regions where zika virus transmission is ongoing. reporting live in studio-- christina grijalva-- abc 9 news tim: charges are now filed against a man accused of shooting a sioux city police officer 18 year old isaiah mothershed was arrested sunday in tim: connection with a string of burglaries and robberies over the past`few months. according to police, mothershed was sitting on a couch and hancuffed, when he reached into the couch cusions for a loaded gun. he fired one shot that hit officer ryan moritz and after a struggle mothershed shot himself. he faces two counts of attempted murder and 5 counts of 1st degree robbery. jenna: it was an emotional day in woodbury county district court for two sioux city teenagers who staged a bank robbery last year " crying...i love you" 18 year old angelica perez

angelica perez and 19 year old heaven zevenbergen were both sentenced to 5 years in prison for robbing the security national bank located inside the hamilton hyvee store. that's where zevenbergen workrk as a teller. according to court proceedings, zevenbergealso pretended to faint to allow her roomate, perez, time to get away. the two were eventually caught and pled guilty to 2nd degree theft in connection to the crime. the judge presidig over the case says he's never had a case like this one in his 13 years on the bench. " i hope you understand i just don't understand this at all. doesn't make a bit of sense to me whatsoever. i can't imagine what the motivation whould have been. there are kids in this world who would love to have half of what you have going for them what you ve going for you." jenna: judge neary says he considered supending the two teens prison terms, but wanted to send a message that this type of crime results in harsher punishment. both teens have been ordered to pay back nearly 10 thousand dollars

and will havto serve at least half of the 5 year sentences. tim: sioux city's law enforcement center is one step closer to expandinin at today's woodbury county supervisors meeting the board interviewed three architects for a project that would expand jail space for roughly 50 additional inmates. other upgrades to the building include new boilers, an electrical system, and air conditioning woodbury county supervisor jeremy taylor says, "over the next week, the five different entities, including the sheriffs office, the taxpayers research council, the board of supervisors, our building services and the baker group, our consultants, will work together on scoring this request for qualification and then we'll come back with a recommendation for the board of supervisors for ultimate approval." tim: the decision to expand the l-e-c comes at the same time the prairie hills jail facility is set to close.. it's used to house overflow prisoners as well as the jail's kitchen facility. jenna: monsanto will be forking out 80 million dollars to settle civil accoununng

that's after the company allegedly mistated earnings to u-s security regulators for its top selling product "round- up". the case revovles ound a corporate rebate program, designed to boost sales of the popular weed killer. staying on the topic of agriculture, for the third year in a row profitability in the farm sector is on the decline. u-s-d-a projections for 2016 show net farm income is expected to dip 3 percent from last year's forecast levels, marking the lowest net income in 14 years. it's a drop of 56 percent from a recent high logged in 20-13. ag experts say thdrop is mostly due to a large supply, not only in the u-s but around the world. chris benson, director of applied ag and food studies at morningside college says a big part of the drop in corn and soybean prices is weather related. "i think the u-s farmer needs to be planning for two to three more years of markets in this area if we have normal weather. and if we have perfect growing conditions we could see those prices drop even

isu's spring game is set for april 16. chris: with a pair of losses last weekend, the musketeers have now dropped four straight and fallen to the cellar of the western conference. a key reason for that inconsistency, is the lineup shuffling coach jay varady has had to do this year. between injuries, international competitions, and finals, the musketeers have suited up 36 different skaters this season...that's already more than all of last year. and of those 36, only two have been with the team for each of their 39 games. coach varady says finding the right lineups has been achallenge, but that he's not too concerned about this recent rough patch. jay varady--"it's more circumstance for me. what's happening with the team at that time. i don't get involved with streaks, winning or losing. i look at the day and what we have to do to be successful the next day. and for us, a lot of times we look at the roster, and it's a constant shuffle. there really hasn't been any consistency to o lineup or our roster and sometimes a reflection of that is up and down play. i
