instrument rental fees. instruments of all kinds were donated including guitars, trumpets and a clarinet. donations can be made year round... but... every valentine's day, the conservatory asks the community for more donations with the sentiment-"have a heart for music"... "since people found out about the event, it's not just a one day only event it kind of continuously goes on and people can contact us and drop stuff off any time. um...we probably had a dozen instruments donated this season, yeah. so it's a... some of them have been given away already you know. it's just kind of an onging process here at the conservatory." this is the conservatory's fifth annual "have a heart for music" donation drive...the conservatory is a non-profit organization that encourages basic music education throughout the midwest. jess the peter goatee memorial a-l-s benefit concert is going on tomorrow over at the hard rock hotel and casino. the event is from 2:00 to 8:00 pm. four of

local bands will be performing...you must be 21 and older to attend the concert. the suggested ticket price is 10 dollars...and there will be a silent auction with items to bid on. 100-percent of the proceeds will go to benefit locals with a-l-s. jess western iowa tech community college hosted the northwest regional championship for first tech challenge in robotics, today. students in the stem, or science, technology, engineering, and mathenatics club came together to compete against one another with their homemade robots. twenty- eight stem clubs in total competed with robots having to perform basic kinetic tasks.. like picking up and placing keys into a bucket, climbing a ramp, and even switching levers...all for points that could be tallied up. the team with the most amount of points at the end of the competition is declared the winner. but building the ultamate robot wasn't the teams only task. "it's not just about robots, it's also about team building and community service. the teams go infront of judges and have to present their plan, how they came up with their design, and using

evidence. and then they also talk about how they have served their community, it's not just about building the robot although that's the main focus. they still have to make sure they're serving their school and their community." several schools had multiple stem teams competing for the title of champion at today's event. jess today in national headlines... pope francis delivered the first major address of his visit to mexico today... speaking before government officials and diplomats at the national palace. the pope denounced what he called the "path of privilege." he said it fosters annvironment for corruption, illegal drugs, human trafficking, and death -- among other things. the pope said the richness of mexico lies in its youth. "a people with a youthful population is a people able to renew and transform itself. this is an invitation to look to the future with hope and it challenges us in a positive way here and now." pope francis

mexico...saying leaders have a duty to provide security and "true justice" to citizens hit by the problem. jess several hundred bernie sanders supporters gathered in the reno convention center today for a canvass launch. a canvass launch is when a candidate's supporters knock on the doors of undecided voters. he thanked them for their hard work, and made a prediction. (cheers) thank you all!" the nevada democratic caucus will be held a week from today. jess the u-s state department has released 551 of hillary clinton's work-related e- mails from her time as secretary of state. the one- thousand-112 pages released today brings the total number of pages released to 45-thousand-830. of today's documents posted online, parts of 84 of them were

level -- but none to top secret. most of the e- mails were upgraded to "confidential" -- the lowest classification level. the state department said none of the e- mails were marked "confidential" at the time they were sent. earlier this week a federal judge ordered clinton's remaining e-mails released by the end of the month. that's right before "super tuesday" -- when 11 states will hold a democratic primary or caucus. jess things are heating up on the republican side between donald trump and ted cruz. the billionaire businessman is actually threatening to sue the texas senator. it's just one instance of the latest bickering between the presidential candidates in south carolina. trump threatened ted cruz with a lawsuit tweeting quote: "if @tedcruz doesn't clean up his act, stop cheating, & doing negative ads, i have standing to sue him for not being a natural born citizen." and of course...cruz fired back. (ted cruz/ (r) presidential candidate): "there is more than a little irony in donald accusing anyone of being nasty given the torrent of obscenities and vulgarities that come out of his month."

later this month. jess valentine's day is tomorrow... and while many couples exchange gifts, flowers and chocolates... the first couple of the united states, exchanged love poems on national television...on the ellen degeneres show. has "iron boy"! nine-year-old dominic, who is battling cystic fibrosis, always wanted to be a superhero. so australian police and the "make-a-wish" group hatched a plan to make that happen. police put dominic in an iron man costume and sent him on a mission to rescue a kidnapped t-v reporter. domenic fought villains played by actors and pulled off the rescue. he later received a special honor from police. (unidentified police official): "it's a real pleasure. i'm really, really proud to present to you the medal of valor." michigan opens up about the, 20-14 and 20-15 deaths, due to lenionnaires' (lehn-airs) disease. he is saying that they could have been prevented and that the flint water crisis may be in connection. cnn's sara ganim has more in the summer of 2014, people in flint started dying in what would become one of the worst outbreaks of lenionnaires' disease in us history. "we were suspecting the city of flint water supply." after the city began drawiing from the highly carossed, flint river, brown water started

"that was the big red flag." eventually toxic lead would be discovered. but that summer, the county health director hadn't found the source of the lenionnaires' disease, which by that point was already killing people. so he got in touch with the cdc. "when you reached out, what did you expect to happen?...we expected that we would have a team of people that would help us identify the source of this bacteria, the source of this illness, to stop it." but that didn't happen. the center for disease control, the federal agency tasked with investigating outbreaks, did'nt show up and the county health director, jim henry, said michigan state officials purposely kept them away. "our whole team was angry, it was...you could see that it was an intentional, delibrate method to prevent us from doing our job." according to cdc protocol, a state must invite the cdc to investigate an

"the state stopped our investigation by prohibiting us, they prohibited communication from the cdc and genessee county health department, they provented that team to come here and help us fine the source." legionella thrives in warm weather and henry says he was racing against the clock, trying to prevent another outbreak from happening the following summer, still hoping the cdc would come help pinpoint the cause.
