" " as condolences come in, battle lines also being drawn over justice antonin scalia's replacement. senate majority leader mitch mcconnell quickly making clear he wants the "next" president to choose the new justice, with republican presidential candidates following suit during saturday's debate. (sen. marco rubio, (r) presidential candidate) i do not believe the president should appoint someone. in california, president obama acknowledging scalia's death and promising to nominate a replacement soon. timely vote. confirmed in this difficult, with and his democratic senator harry reid mcconnell in a statement saying, "the american ople? should have a voice in the selection of their next supreme court justice." reid pushing back has a responsibility to fill vacancies as soon as possible." without a majority in the senate, the democrats will need a handful of break ranks, facing tough re- election bids this year. the democrats already sharpening their line of attack. (sen. chuck schumer, (d) new york) i think first the american people don't like this obstructionism. when you go right off the bat and say i don't care who he nominates i am going to oppose him, that's not going to fly. tim: here at home local siouxland judges and lawyers are reacting to justice scalia's death and the legacy he left behind. our elisa raffa joins us now with more. elisa on cam tim, both judges and lawyers had emotions of shock and nostalgia learning about the death of justice scalia. he was a judge, they say who left a legacy behind.

a nomination for justice... but she doesn't plan to approve any appointments. u.s. senator deb fischer talked to constituents today at a stop in south sioux city. she hosted a community coffee q & a event at dakota perk. one man said he thinks the senator is doing a good job of relaying the needs of nebraskans to the folks in washington. "she listens to the people, she's not just going in there with her opinion she's listening to the people and going back to into washington what the people of nebraska want, the people of northeast nebraska want. she is doing that." says south sioux city resident pat engel. hear senator fischer's thoughts on a possible supreme court appointment by president obama... coming up at six. tim: the attorney for a man accused of shooting a sioux city police officer is seeking to have his client's case moved out of woodbury county. 18-year-old isaiah mothershed's attorney matt metzgar has filed motions for a change of venue and also wants a gag order imposed on the sioux city police department and the woodbury county attorney's office. mothershed is charged with two

and five counts of 1st degree robbery in connection with several incidents dating back to december. last week judge todd hensley ordered mothershed be held on a $300,000 bond. mothershed is due back in court friday morning. jenna: vermillion police are investating vandalism at usd's phi delta theta fraternity house over the weekend. fraternity members discovered yellow spray paint on the side of their house yesterday morning. the words "we date rape" were painted on the brick exterior. kimberly grieve, vice president for student services, said usd currently has no reports of sexual assault and she doesn't know why the fraternity was targeted. usd's president says they're working with police to vestigate what happened. tim: so was your valentines day a memorable one ? you'll probably have a hard time topping the day one eastern iowa couple had. they've been celebrating for decades and decades... the baxters are both 102 years old, and jill kasparie reports their love is still going strong.

" " " i was on a leave of absence from medical school in haiti. so i spent about 9 months there. but the last day i went walkiki outside to visit the villagers and stuff. that was my main exposure to being outside. then i i nt back home, and then the following week is when i got sick." according to the c-d-c... the total number of cases in south floda has risen to 20. health officials in south florida has risen to 20. health officials say all patients got the virus while overseas. tim: flying thefriendly skies is s safe as its been in five years. and airline accidents dropped significantly last year. the international air transport association reported four airline crashes in 2015 with 136- deaths. that's a huge drop from the year before. in 2014... 641 people died in airline accidents. the tally did not include two major plane crashes that were causeded deliberately.

flight that crashed in the french alps and was blamed on pilot suicide..... or the crash of metrojet in egypt, blamed on terrorism. combined 374 lives were lost in those crashes. the i-a-t-a said there were 68 total accidents last year, compared to 77 the year before. jenna: military officials say the u-s air force will send six f-15's to finland this spring for exercises. they will operate out of a base about 100 miles from the border with russia. the jets will fly training missions with finnish forc as part of operation atlantic resolve. the u-s initiated the operation in nato allies after intervention in finland is not part of nato, but it shares an 813-mile border with russia and has worked with the u-s several times in the past few years. tim: an onslaught of unhappy comcast t& customers took to twitter... ...after the company saw
