just like supreme court justices, we need to look at past precedent in order to make the best decision for scalia's replacement. " i'm just looking at the process and i don't believe that the president should have a confirmed supreme court justice at this point in his tenure in the white house. it has been a long long time since that has happened and there's a reason for it. so i probably would be supporting that the president not have that appointment confirmed." says senator fischer. tim: be sure to tune in to this week in siouxland this more from senator fischer. jenna: he doesn't usually specific iowa governor reflected on the presidential race weekly press months ago he said he didn't think a serious candidate. but it seems he's changed his mind after the iowa hampshire primary.. university veisha last year. students, faculty and community have been meeting and brainstorming for a proper replacement. jenna: but even without the spring, one special tradition continued on more. " "one pie, great!" 97 year old traditions die hard. and this one, is helping to fill the void of no veishea. "we have to start somewhere. we cant expect that magnitude of things right away. we're trying it this year" the cherry pies have been around, well as long as veishea had. but this year, the pies are associated with valentines day ... not the spring festival. "i think its great we're trying to bring back the little things they were so iconic to veiseha" students will sell around 1600 pies...down 13,000 from two years ago. thats a 25 thousand dollar difference for scholarship fundraising. "hello how are you, i need five, five ok!" but student body president dan breitbach says something is better than nothing. " they raise money for students. all the money goes to

scholarships and funding orgs, thats what we wanted to bring back. somethign that directly effects the students" breitbach, faculty and communtiy members plan to spread out a few concerts and department activities through the spring. including the spring football game paired with the cyclone market- featuring campus grown and raised goods. "back and forth conversations throwing out crazy and not so crazy ideas, trying to fill the void left by teh cancellation of vesihea" but some students say there arent enough pies on campus to ease their veishea withdrawls. "nothign will substitute the vesihea parade and teh festival and its distastifying i think" but for others, seeing the smiles the back a little of that "just seeing people carry 20 pies all out much people love it" "a good step in the right direction" (jenna) fred, what will the store? a chance of rain and snow tonight, then a nice warmup later in the week.

wind down but as the schedule thins out the intensity and action increases just like in this week's version of the abc9 top plays. as always these by local athletes for local viewers...we kick things off in the college ranks...usd and ndsu. casey kasperbauer and austin sparks...the pick and roll, doesn't get much
10:25 pm
sparks, he just takes it one step at a time...it's like learning to fly or falling in love. usd gets the win as well. some more acrobatics at play number four. east's connor murrell is one of the best scorers in the state...partially because he's shooting 49 percent from down town. but this kid can hurt you on the dribble drive as well. check out the tough finish surrounded by 3 defenders and then he wins the jump ball off e inbounds and then he's able to protect it and give it a little kiss off the glass. impressive stuff for the senior. for play number three we head to the lewis and clark championship game and ago's aspen lapointe shows why you need to pick him up at half court. are you kidding me?! this shot is legitimately a three pointer in the nba. not only that,t,t was the first bucket of the game for bago as they went on to win their third straight lewis and clark conference tournament. play number two s from morningside...and the only thing that lexi ackerman was

westfield and kingsley pierson...panthers led it by 4 out of the half and they'd add to it. nathan keck dishes it off to jacob harvey...he finishes off the power dribble and make it a 9 point advantage. then keck, this time comes with the theft and keeps it himself...he takes it in for the easy deuce as the lead gets to double digits. late in the quarter...keck lobs it up to camden bainbridge for the back door lay up...kp held a- dub without a field goal in the third. in the fourth, conner anderson, drives and gets the friendly roll on the road to stop that skid. but kp...not worried about that final quarter run...they hold off the challenge and move on, 61-44. in the nightcap, the host rebelel taking on conference rival river valley. it was the anthony mcollough show early...this drive and layup opens up the scoring shortly after tip off. then he gets it done defensively too...the steal and just misses the highlight reel slam...but he

on a personal 8-0 run. back come the wolverines...tuck er zahnley, misses but follows his shot for the board and the pretty reverse layup. then he scoops up the loose ball and takes it all the way for the lay in to get within six. but westwood too strong on their homecourt...they advance to play lawton-bronson, 55-44 the final.
