"i never in my life would have imagined..." a sioux city man was fatally stabbed on the 19-hundred block of west first street early wednesday morning-- right down the way from his own front door. the victim was identified as vernon mace-- the father of verna hoffman. "nmore than a few feet away from where i sleep and i didn't hear anything, like i couldn't save him..i... " the tragedy comes someone mace's 47-year-old elias wanatee, the husband of mace's none of the family members knew wanatee showed up at the house and

outside wednesday morning "he waited for my dad to come out ofof the e use, he waited out here. when my dad came out, he and my dad had a verbal whatever...um they started arguin he chased my dad down the block and stabbed him down the block and my dad made it back to the house to get help." mace was taken to mercy medical-- where he passed away due to injuries. sioux city police aprehended wanatee 10 hours after responding to the inital call. wannatee is being held at the woodbubu county jail on second degree murder charges. although, mace's family can breathe a sigh of relief that wanatee is off the streets-- they hold on to the good memories of a beloved father and grandfather. "he was a great guy, he was a great dad. everybody liked him, if you met him, you would have liked him. he had an awesome smile. awesome smile. and um, he'd help anybody, he wasn't perfect, but he was a good person, he had a good heart...and it's a tragedy...for

a 20 per-cent increase from the previous year jenna: fire and ambulance crews were called to put out a fire at the winnavegas casino today. sloan fire depament arrived tohe scene, where crews were working on propane gas lines, one of which caught fire. witnesses say a large plume of smoke was released, but no major injuries were reported and the fire was put out quickly. no word yet any damage the fire may have caused. tim: at the state capitol, legislators are tying up loose ends on several bills. friday marks a legislative deadline known a funnel week requireing most bills to be proved by a cocoittee in ororr to be eligible for continued debate. tim: one of those bills, looking to survive funnel week, a proposal that would expand iowan's access to medical cannabis. today, for the second time this session, a group of families whose lives are affected by diseases they say would be helped by cannabis oil, gathered to state their case. they are calling
