>> announcer: from abc news, this is "world news now." >> good morning. it is a busy wednesday morning. i'm kendis gibson. >> and i'm reena ninan. we'll get to the presidential race in a moment. first breaking news, a massive storm system slamming the south right now. >> more than a den tornadoes reported overnight kaw causing at least three deaths. two at this trailer park in louisiana about 40 miles south of baton rouge. latest storm track in a ment, but we begin with linzie janis. >> you funnel clouds trying to touchdown in new orleans. >> takee shelter now. extreme threat. >> severe weather spawning there massive waterspout on lake ponchartrain. >> coming off to the side. >> reporter: watch as two more form on sides. one reported twister ripping through this rv parking in convent, louisiana.

>> in downtown prairieville, major damagetology businesses. incredibly, dozen of people inside this gold's gym unharmed as a reported tornado rips through. >> i started scrming everybody get down. take cover. >> reporter: the entire side of the building sheered off. the storms started near san antonio with golf ball sized hail. this had car gettingpummeled. heavy rain bringing accidents. one person injured when this trtrtor-trailer overturnednd three cars slammed into it. these storms are on the move headed east so authorities are asking everyone across the region to remain on alert. linzie janis, abc news, prairieville, louisiana. >> we should point out that warnings are going up right now as the system moves east. and taking a look at the radar, tornado watches in effect in georgia and florida overnight. dangerous conditions cup the east coast from the deep south.

that same deadly storm that caused havoc throughout the deep south that, same system is now going to shift towards the east angting the folks as far as north as d.c. richmond, as far as south as jacksonville down to tampa with damaging winds. 35 to 55 or 60 miles per hour winds at the least. damaging lal. you have to keep inind why. this front cuts underneath all e warm airnd causese those storms to fire off. kendis, reena snee turning to politics, another sweeping victory for donald trump. >> trump won the nevada caucuses by what looks like his widest margin yet. he made his victory speech flanked by his two oldest sons telling the crowd he attracted voters across a broad spectrum winning among evangelicals and hispanics. >> marco rubio taking second place. picking up a new wave of support from the gop establishment. ted cruz finishing third and ben carson, john kasich trailed in the single digits.

>> as the votes are counted, the latest right now from the polls in nevada. >> abc's lauren lyster is live in las vegas now now that trump has won, are we hearing anything from his challengers? >> youknow, reena and kendis, we absbsutely are. we heard from ted cruz a short time ago.o. he made the point all of the ballots have not been counted yet but he did congratulate donald trump on a good evening. he also made the point that the first four primary states are meant to narrow the field. saying that that's exactly what they've done. he also said that history has shown that no one has won the nomination without winning one of the first three contests saying only two candidates have done that, himself and donald trump. he made the point that after the first four contests he is the only one that has the only campaign that has or can beat donald trump. now, we also heard from ben carson. he said that he believes that something or that thing are

when he told that to supporters he was at just 7% of the caucus vote. >> okay. so lauren, we're learning a lot from the entntnce polls for the vovors that were goingngnto the caucuses in nevada. what are we getting out of those? >> yeah, kendis. entrance poll data showing these caucuses were marked by new highs in desire for an outsider candidate. among voters and also by new highs and voter anger. both friends among voters helped vault donald trump tovictory. now we also saw the support of evangelicals and hispanics thrown behind donald trump. ted cruz who won among evangelicals in iowa losing out among them here in nevada to donald trump. and then also donald trump having that strong showing with hispanics and marco rubio losing out there. >> who would have thought the two hispanic candidates would lose toonald trump. huh?

>> abc's lauren lift lister live in lasasvegas. stay with abc news as the votes come in from nevada. we'll keep you up to date all morning long and have more live reports on "america this morning." so the democrats on the other side of the country making hillary clinton and bernie sanders appeared at a town hall last night, both making a pitch for the african-american vote. sanders promises a hike in funding for historically black colleges while clinton talked about racial barriers and police shootings. she also took questions about the e-mail scandal and benghazi. >> i testified for 11 hours on benghazi committee. people were, oh my goodness. i told the truth. i have turned over 55,000 pages of e-mails. nobody in any cabinet position has ever been as transparent or open. >> i like her and respect her. this is not some kind of personality fight or stuff like at.

million for a woman's death from ovarian ncer. the alabama woman blamed her illness on years of using the company's baby product and shower to shower product. they face hundreds of lawsuits saying it failed to warn consumers the talc based products could cause cancer. she died last fall. federal health officials are investigating more than a dozen reported cases of sexually transmitted zika virus in the united states. all the cases involve men who visited areas with outbreaks and may have infected their female sex partners. according to the cdc, that suggests that sexual transmission is more likely than previously thought. but there's encouraging news about the zika virus. two houston hospitals have developed a rapid test for it which can provide results in just a matter of hours. however, initially the testt will only be availablele in those twos facilititi. xas children's hospipil and ustonmethodisis the hospitals don't'tant to o

that is definitely not the best place to get stuck. two workers stranded 62 floors above midtown manhattan. they were reacing glass panels on the building when the weather turned rough. and they decided to call it quits but the scaffold was stuck in place. the guy operating it says that he had it working again before firefighters cut out a window to rescue the workers. >> there was no need for the fire department at all. this was overdone. >> they were fine. they're fine. no panic. they're trained, well trained. they have their all their certifications. it's part of the nature of the beast. >> j jt an average day at work. fifings say t t two men were stuck outsideden the cold, wind and rainn for about an hour befo they were pulled to

we'll be right back. good morning. i'm reena ninan. >> and i'm kendis gibson. here's aook at the top headlines we're following this morning on "world news now." winning streak. it's three in a row for donald trump. living up to expectations in nevada. trump won the caucuses by a wide margin, prevailing over marco rubio and ted cruz and he's plomsing to score big again on super tuesday. live coverage in a moment. there have been at least a dozen tornados in the south, part of the strong storm system in the region. the twisters caused deaths in louisiana and mississippi. severe thunderstorms will be a problem through the night. the cdc reports 14 cases from zika viruss in this country transmitted through sexual contact from men who had traveled to their female parns. houston doctors say they have de add rapid test for zika.

down on wall street. >> hillary clinton is also weighing in on the president's efforts to close the prison at guantanamo bay, cuba. she says the prison is a continuing recruitment advertisement for terrorists. and that president obama is right to try to close it. but republicans in congress don't see it that way. here's abc's jon karl. >> reporter: it holds some of the world's most notorious terrorists, including 9/11 mastermind khalid sheikh mohammed, and abu zubaydah, once al qaeda's chief of operations. in releasing his plan to close guantanamo -- >> keeping this facility open is contrary to our values. it undermines our standing in the world. >> reporter: -- the president is trying to keep one of his first promises as a presidential candidate. >> we will close guantanamo. >> reporter: the white house plan is short on specifics. of the 91 detainees, about 30 would be transferred to other countries. the rest, brought to unspecified locations in the u.s. >> the yays are 91. >> reporter: congress has
