lead on bernie sanders. the vermont senator is still putting up a fight, hoping to turn around his chances. reporter brianna keilar has the latest " (hillary clinton/(d) presidential candidate) "tomorrow is super tuesday, massachusetts is right in the middle of it and i need your help." hillary clinton is riding a wave, hoping her south carolina landslide becomes an even bigger super tuesday victory lap. (hillary clinton/(d) presidential candidate) "i will work as hard as i can every single day, i will get up and go to work for you and fight for you." the delegate fight with bernie sanders will go on, but a strong finish could make clinton all but unstoppable, at least mathematically. politically, it's a long race ahead. (hillary clinton/(d) presidential candidate) "if i were grading some of those republicans, remember the little box that used to be on your kids' report cards? play well with others. i'd have to put a big no. democracy requires that we play well with others." she's steadily shifting her focus from sanders to republicans, one in particular. (hillary clinton/(d) presidential candidate) "yes, i don't think america has ever
6:03 am
what we need to do now is make america whole." in battleground virginia, the early outlines of a potential general election fight starting today. ( donald trump/(r) presidential candidate) "bernie sanders is over unless s e gets indicted." sanders didn't sugarcoat his 48- point blowout in south carolina. ( sen. bernie sanders/(d) presidential candidate) "we got decimated, george. we got decimated." but he says the race is just getting started. he's drawing big crowds, from oklahoma to colorado to minnesota, with thousands of supporters answering his call for a political revolution. and sanders made clear he's far from finished with clinton. (sen. bernie sanders/(d) presidential candidate) "we are listening to the american people and their pain and their needs rather than hustling all over the country, collecting millions of dollars from the one percent." he's also winning notable endorsements, including hawaii congresswoman tulsi gabbard. on c-n-n's new day, she said sanders has far better foreign policy judgment. ( rep. tulsi gabbard/(d) hawaii) "with hillary we've
6:04 am
the iraq war, she was the architect for the war in libya, which we've seen has resulted in tremendous loss of life." she's one of the first female combat veterans in congress, who stepped down as vice chairwoman of the democratic national committee to support sanders. (rep. tulsi gabbard/(d) hawaii) "you can look to dick cheney if we want to look for experience in foreign policy, but, to me, the real question is judgment." a new c-n-n o-r-c poll today showed a majority of democrats across the country favor clinton 55 to 38 percent over sanders. but the poll also had warning signs. 59 percent say sanders is more honest and trustworthy, compared to 36 percent who say clinton is. and ahead of super tuesday... former president bill clinton stumped for his wife hillary at a late rally monday night in worcester massachusettes. he got a warm introduction from massachusetts congressman jim mc-govern...
6:05 am
"(former president bill clinton) "you heard congressman mcgovern say what an important election it is. it is! cause our adversaries, they don't believe any of this. they just think we go back to trickle down economics - everything'll be hunky dory. never mind that it's failed every time .. you know it's faith based economics. they don't care. never mind that everybody that's analyzed the plans say that hers add up and theirs don't." a suffolk university poll released monday shows clinton leading sanders by about eight points in the state. lukas: and chelsea clinton made a campaign stop in minnesota on behalf of her mother. minnesota is one of 12 states voting on super tuesday. chelsea clinton spoke about her mother's environmental agenda. she says a part of the democratic candidate's agenda is to stop illegal dumping. " chelsea clinton,
6:06 am
candidate hillary clinton) "she knows we need to do more on inspection and enforcement to prevent dumping - particularly iron dumping in the united states and she supports what the minnesota senators are trying to do - to have an even stronger legislative stance in the congress so that we have even more ability to stand up particularly against china and the illegal dumping that we know is happening." clinton was joined by minnesota's democratic governor mark dayton and several governor mark dayton and several lawmakers. lukas: and again ... today is not just any tuesday ... its super tuesday... a day when a dozen states hold their nominating contests. so why does it matter so much? here's reporter jonathan mann with an explanation. "super tuesday" is a chance for candidates to get a very large number of delegates to the democratic and republican nominating conventions. 12states will either vote or caucus. about half of them are in the south.., which is why you'll also hear this called the "s-e-c primary"... taking that name from the "southeast conference"... an association of
6:07 am
be best known for its football rivalries. no football tie-in there but the u-s territory of american samoa will also hold it's caucus on super tuesday. there are more delegates up for grabs on "super tuesday" than any other day of the calendar. that one day offers nearly half, fully 48-percent of what's republicans... 36-percent, for democrats. super tuesday will probably not decide the race for republicans because of the number of candidates still in the race. they split the vote too many ways for a clear, fast win. but it could have a significant impact on the democratic race between hillary clinton and bernie sanders. "she was a loving, caring person and she loved people." retired photographer tom pearce says terea halbach was like the daughter he ner had.
