and he himself took the stand and claimed he was driving 80 miles an hour in a residential ingersoll area because he was afraid for both his, and perez's lives. the crash tore the saturn sedan in two while troy mure was , inexplicably able to walk away the force of the impact caused , multiple traumatic injuries to scalicity perez, including an amputation of a leg. >> she took the brunt of the impact with the poll, i think and as the vehicle got ripped in , half, it ejected her from the vehicle, and left here where she was at. >> mure says he and perez were being chased and multiple witnesses confirm seeing what looked like a cadillac chasing the saturn down 35th mure says someone in the cadillac flashed a handgun. grexit do feel you had any options other than driving fast? >> no. my main objective was to get away from the cadillac or at least make it -- where i knew

both emily and alexander fazzino's relatives testified today in a winnishiek county court. alexander is charged with first degree murder, and he has pleaded not guilty in emily's death. stacey: changes could be coming to the car parts you're required to buy. kcci's kim st. onge is in studio to explain how this effects every driver. kim: right now, iowa drivers are required to have a have a front and rear license plate. but one lawmaker has proposed a bill to only require a rear plate. the lawmaker who introduced the bill says this will allow car enthusiasts to keep their vehicles authentic, and not appreciate the value. a local car dealership also supports the bill and adds that it can cost $200 or more to have front plates installed if they aren't already. right now, iowa is one of 31 states in the country requiring both plates. tonight at 6:00 here why law-enforcement has concerns about the bill. todd: still ahead, premature celebration.

five a quarterfinals or tomorrow. todd: new at 5 the caucus is over, but there's still one presidential candidate in the state. griff the bulldog is drake university's mascot. he is also running for president, and what voters to know he declared his candidacy first. last week, two other division 1 bulldog mascots jumped in the race, georgetown's jack and butler's blue. we talked to griff today about life on the campaign trail when he stopped by our studios. click the years since you have taken his role, how are you liking it so far? i know, it is hard work, isn't it? todd: they get right to the hard questions. griff feels he has the campaign experience and grassroots support required to win. to be on the safe side, he is seeking celebrity endorsements on twitter in his 3 dog race. stacey: teenaged chefs put their talents to the test today.
