feels like 0 in limon and 8 in aspen, feels like 13 in grand junction. the wind out there is mostly light and that 5 to 15-mile-an- hour range till you get west of denver, 61-mile-an-hour gusts over the top of berthoud pass. dense fog has developed in and around parts of the greeley area morning and the arkansas river valley. visibility has been near zero in that part of the state. we are tracking the next wave of snow moving into the mountains and possibility for snow tomorrow morning here in denver. but joel, right now nothing to get in the way on those roads. absolutely nothing. that's your consolation prize if you have to get up and go to work this morning.

see how nice and dry the roads are, wide open. southbound coming into town, 12 minutes from 120th to i-70. there's the mouse trap cam, north of i-70 a few cars and a few delays through the express lanes project. downtown we have an accident off alameda and franklin. the earlier accident that was at 17th and holly, that's cleared out of the way. thank you very much. there were tense moments but the broncos wake up this morning one step closer to super bowl 50. last night's win secured their spot in the afc championship next weekend. >> reporter: so why would the broncos win any other way than that, a sluggish effort by the

the big play when they needed it most, and the broncos play for the afc championship. >> don't be too hard on the offense. so many dropped passes, without all those dropped passes things could have been a lot different today. offense never got it going. defense stopped pittsburgh a lot of times then you would see a player wide open running down the field. but they kept them out of the end zone all but one time, and the broncos go on and now the patriots are next. >> reporter: how do they find a way to win against the patriots? >> i think the bottom line is the defense for the broncos will be the best unit on the field. patriots are a formidable opponent, sounds like everyone is healthy, gronk is healthy, still got that brady guy. he's a problem. so it's a massive challenge, but the bottom line is the broncos defense will have to

one person was taken from the scene and died at the hospital. police are looking for a dark colored or charcoal suv. we'll have more on this throughout the morning. denver police are searching for a red jeep and one person on the run after a bizarre scene near florida and federal. young people in one vehicle were shooting at people in another yesterday morning. a witness told cbs 4 it started when two jeeps ran a stoplight. he says both suvs were full of kids. >> we were on our way to get our football fun at the grocery store and approached the stoplight here on zuni. and a caravan of kids not even old enough to be driving ran the light and almost killed us. >> they crashed into another

started bailing out of the jeep. police caught four and they are looking for one more, as well as a red jeep wrangler with a black roof. they believe a person firing a weapon was in that jeep. nobody was hurt. we are working@the latest on a missing hiker in clear creek county. the weather is hampering efforts to find the 50-year-old hiker. rescuers know that he's from the area and has frequently hiked that glacier. there was an avalanche nearby this past weekend and that's where rescuers are focusing their search. today is martin luther king day honoring the birthday of the late civil rights leader,

police will have a motorcade at 8:00 this morning. staging for that starts at 7:15 on the east side of the aurora municipal building. lafayette community members will march in the march for peace in celebration. students at johnson and wales university will take part in service throughout denver. in denver people will march in the mlk parade starting at 10:00 a.m. people will gather at civic center park starting at 9:00. they can sign a yearbook at the state capitol. denver's mayor will join the parade at 9:25. several americans who were prisoners in iran are recovering at a u.s. army hospital in germany, released as part of a prisoner swap on saturday.

contamination crisis. water laced with lead is running through the taps, more than twice what the epa considers toxic waste. the contamination happened when the city turned to a different source of water. >> it's not just an emergency. this is a disaster. >> over the weekend, the president signed an emergency declaration, freeing up federal funds. we have a few changes brewing out there. temperatures in the teens and 20s for almost everybody, few single digits showing up 27 in boulder and 25 over in grand junction.

there, light for the most part but very gusty in the foothills. feels like 0 in limon, 14 in denver, 8 in aspen and 13 in grand junction this morning. 61-mile-an-hour winds at the top of berthoud pass. they had some heavy snow over the weekend. we'll have the full road forecast in a moment. let's look at the bigger picture. we have an active jet stream with the next disturbance approaching the state quickly, moving in tonight. i'll show you that on the futurecast. for today, passing high clouds. you can't rule out a snow shower but after sunset, the high country is expecting 2 to 4 inches. near the wyoming state line, around midnight tonight, that cold front is going to come

threatening to kick up a little bit of snow as it comes through here tomorrow morning. current timing if this comes hour. i guess the good news is it will be a light snowfall. 2 to 4 inches on the way for the high country. mild. westerly down sloping winds sending eastern colorado into the 40s and 50s, some near 60 in the southeast. increasing clouds and breezy today, that chance for snow possibly tomorrow morning. take a look at the high country, i-70 and genesee. if you're heading up to do skiing today, conditions not too bad along i-70. because of the snow, we had all

of the snow we had. now we have more fresh snow to blow across the roadways. highway 40 out to winter park, look out for that. i'm sure the fresh powder is nice once you get there. here in denver, pretty good looking drive along the highways, very few delays in spots. one accident here at alameda and franklin, watch out for that this morning. southbound coming into town, speeds in the 50s. we have a little slowing in the northbound direction. southbound 13 minutes from 120th out to i-70. a tough storm is making its way through the midwest right now. winter weather advisories for minnesota and ohio, and wind chills in indy plummeted to nearly 20 below 0. officials in chicago are asking residents to check on neighbors as the

in michigan 40 cars piled up on i-94 yesterday and one died, several others hurt. >> what i saw traveling here today were people traveling with less than one car length between them and the vehicle in front of them at high speeds, not thinking they need to slow down and keep a good distance between them. >> that highway was closed for about six hours. back here in colorado, we have a lot of weather watchers reporting teens and 20s.

exciting adventure. this is i-70, pea boulevard, excellent drive if you're heading to the airport this morning. new this morning, a police officer in utah is dead, another injured after a police chase ended in a shooting. officers with the greater salt lake unified police department showed up at a car accident and began to chase a couple who fled. there was a gun battle and officer doug barney died. other officer was hit but survived. police killed the 31-year-old gunman, wanted for among other things a federal weapons violation. >> anderson was wanted locally and federally, sought by the metro gang task force as recently as saturday evening. >> police late arrested his female companion.

we are at 28 degrees in denver. >> coming up next, bernie sanders and hillary clinton went back and forth in last night's democratic debate. hear from both candidates after the break. well, that was nerve- racking, a 60 minute battle with the steelers and for about 50 of those minutes looked like the broncos were going to let another playoff home game get away. mcmanus was perfect, five of five field goals. in the fourth, the defense stepped up, forcing the fumble. denver would drive down the field as manning good for 31 yards to fowler, setting the stage for c.j. anderson. the touchdown put it is broncos

catches nearly cost the broncos another home playoff game. they turned things around with one big play. manning got the start, his first in almost two months. the big story was how many drops denver's receivers had. that cost the broncos big, trailing big ben and the steelers. in the fourth, they force the fumble and the offense finally got things working. manning finds fowler on third alive. anderson would cap it off with a touchdown right here. conversion. >> they will take on the patriots on sunday, kickoff at 10:5 p.m.

rolling toward colorado, a series of disturbances we have been tracking in the jet stream pattern. for today, expect passing clouds from time to time. clouds will increase as we go through the day, a few snow showers in the northwest. after sunset tonight, a good dose of snow for the high country, 2 to 4 inches. not expecting any widespread travel problems but it could be tough on the higher passes. starting overnight tonight, a cold front races into eastern colorado, threatening to pick up a round of snow for the rush hour tomorrow morning. the good news, it would be a light snowfall if it does materialize. 2 to 4 inches on the way for the high country, possibility for a quick inch or two tomorrow morning as that front tracks into colorado. 40s and 30s on the eastern

snow. in the high country, at the eisenhower tunnel not a bad drive. a little sheen out there, but watch out for the wind. along i-70 through georgetown, highway 40 out the winter park. and we have fresh snow to blow of that. denver metro, this is the kind of drive we were expecting king holiday. downtown you'll have the free meters. new accident, i-25 at 225. this looks like it's on 6th east of the 225, so not on the highway. this one definitely is, though. light volumes here, speeds in the 50s and 60s southbound coming into town.
