>> you and a few million friends are going to enjoy a nice day in denver today. here's the parade outlook. the bands start the parade starts at noon and it should be 50 degrees. for the rally, it it's going to be a great luscious day. 35 wind on the west side of town going from 10 to 25 miles-per-hour from area. keep in mind, it will be windy up there. around here, it's going to be great. 28 at 8:00. 54 the high for the day. so this will start a warming trend that takes us through the weekend. things are let's see if the traffic is looking good. >> good morning. we expect those to play hooky and head into downtown. this is i-25 and alameda. it shifted -- we

we've seen coming into town. a 10-minute drive. here we are across the denver metro area. in the corona area. watch out it's not going to look at the green we have on the map. we expect this work to continue commute. and then about 8:00, 9:00, as folks head downtown, it's going to be a mess. >> joel, thanks. today, the fans will show their support for the superbowl championships. >> it will start at 10:00 at jaime is there. the party continues this morning. good morning, jaime. >>reporter: oh, it absolutely does. we have fans over here, fans over there. let's go broncos. i can't believe it. i don't know why i'm surprised right now , but people already lining up for this parade because the team, governor hicken, mayor hancock expected to be here.

of this show are all the hard working folks who actually put this together yesterday. trucks brought all the gear you feed to pull off this rally. and the city and the county building. the lights and speakers put into place. rise their steps to the team and the state officials could be in place to address the crowd at the rally. there's expected to be a million people. we saw a few of the million this morning. and the barricades put in place across the park and metal and security barriers are set up as well. here's the information that you need to know. around 10:00 in the morning, that's when the entertainment begins. many of the bands will perform at center -- at noon, the parade begins at 17th and wine cup. 1:00 p.m. is when the rally begins at civic center park, the coaches and broncos and the players will be there. a reminder to everybody.

-- chairs and alcohol are not allowed. you want to be here and prep for the preparations. we're going to check with shawn chitnis. good morning, shawn. >>reporter: jaime, good morning. at union station where the parades starts, no one lining up here, but the barricades are in place to get ready to folks can start the parade here and work their way southeasterly to the next stop of the parade. something cool you'll notice if you're able to check out broadway as you're heading down here is they have put some blue and orange on part of the path for this parade. yesterday, crews were painting broncos colors onto broadway. it's going to help lead the parade. let's show you a map of where they're going to go. they'll start at union station. the players and coaches will work their way down 17th street to

votes to sander's one. if 100% of voters turn out, the town can make a difference in the tallies. they have more symbolic importance. >> it's a celebration of democracy. >> they do offer one positive for winning candidates for most of the day. they're ahead in officially tallied results. i'm kim hutchingson reporting. >> most polls opened until 7:00. there's 20 communities across the state which leaves the polls open until 8:00 at night. le people are dead and dozens injured after a head-on train crash near the australia border. crews were on the scene when the trains collided. officials say the impact of the collision left train carriages fused together and some cars are still derailed.

ambulances are being used to get the 100 to 150 people injured to hospitals. the planned parenthood facility in colorado springs is set to reopen its doors. this after three people were killed on thanksgiving. rick sallinger tells us this is a temporarily opening. >>reporter: neuropathy were killed -- 3 killed and 9 wounded. this building is ready to open, but president victor coward says for now only in part. >> we'll be providing the range of services as the same as before, but a reduced number. we won't be able to see as many people. >> of the three killed, there were clients and a third was a police officer who came to help. the staff in the clinic -- away from the gunman robert deer. >> the brave and remarkable

tuesday, february 9th. i'm mark taylor. >> and i'm britt moreno. today is fat tuesday so a lot of celebrations happening across the nation. it's the superbowl champion superbowl parade which we're gearing up for. >> we're ready for it. >> orange and blue. let's find out the forecast. dave aguilar is tracking that. an exciting day for us. >> we're amped up. the beads for fat tuesday will be orange and blue. here's a look at the broncos parade if you're headed downtown. the event starts downtown with the music and stuff. should be 42 degrees and 50 for the parade and the high should be 54 degrees. about 1:00 p.m. for the big rally. temperatures mild. we're starting out great, 31 in lakewood. 21 in greenwood village. wind on the west side. a 20-mile-per-hour wind in golden. if you're headed to the mountains, you'll encounter winds. not as strong, but it will blow around a little bit. what a way to get our tuesday started. let's see if the

joel hillan is keeping an eye on that. good morning. >> good morning. a lot of folk s are saying what's the -- a lot of folks are saying what's the the broncos game, there's 80,000 fans -- this time they're expecting close to 1 million people. here's a look at the map for rtd. they have these if you cross over two, you have to pay extra fare. watch that this morning. if you're coming people that they service -- rides they service each day. we're going to triple that today. keep that in mind, you're probably going to want to be standing and you probably want to leave early. that beats sitting in your car because no one has no place to park and they can't get anywhere else, so you're stuck on broadway listening to the parade in your car.

want to send you to shawn chitnis by denver -- that's where people are come from the route. >>reporter: joel, good morning. a great setup. these are the barricades where a lot of folks will be able to stand and watch the beginning of the parade at union station and work their way down 17th which is behind me. let's look at the map that shows you the exact route that the players and coaches will take as they work their way from union station and head down 17th street. make their way to broadway, and then once they're on broadway, they'll head south onto 13th avenue and enter the park. and the city and county building where the rally will take place. we want to show you something cool on broadway, you might be able to see it if you're on that part of the route, crews were putting blue and orange on the ground. it's

the driver never even saw the man. police are trying to find a full-sized brown pickup. a developing story. a deputy was shot yesterday morning. >> dan bush has the latest. >>reporter: derrick gear was unresponsive when fellow officers got to him. he was taken to an area hospital wounds. know this. it's a tragedy for this agency and this community. >> deputy gear responded to an emergency call of a suspicious armed man in eastern grand junction after 11:00 this morning. finding a 17-year-old wearing a bandana over his face. when the unnamed suspect was told he'll be taken into custody, the suspect resisted. >> the male was that's and produced a hand gun after being at the deputy.

schools were placed on lock down and a k-9 unit was called in to find the suspect who surrounded an hour later. his gun was found by investigators. deputy gear's injuries are life-threatening. he remains in critical condition. >> he his dedicated his adult life to protecting this community. he made the -- >> that was dan bush reporting. charges against the gunman has yet to be determined. there should be all funded kindergarten for colorado kids. it would cost the state $242 representative jim wilson says the general fund has years. so the state has the money. wilson doesn't think his bill will pass, but he hopes it will raise awareness of the importance of that early learning program.

8 people are dead and hundreds more injured in a head-on train crash. dawn champion has the latest. >>reporter: two trains crashed. investigators say the trains crashed head on as the morning the impact derailed several cars. a steady stream of ambulances were some of the more severely injured were flown to hospitals. german news agencies report the rail line is used by commuters who work in nunac and it happens along the river which officials effort. no word what led to the wreckage. dawn champion, cbs news.

>> i think it's beautiful as well and i'm glad it's hitting us finally because i want spring to come sooner than later. >> in connecticut, slippery conditions caused this tour bus to flip over on i-95. several passengers were hurt. >> i've seen people out of the bus wandering and kind of in the area. they don't know what to do. >> along the coastline, powerful waves caused flooding. >> oh, my god. >> passengers aboard royal caribbean cruise ship felt the rath of the weather after the ship got caught in the storms. 20 foot winds and they shook nerves and caused damage onboard. >> you could hear the winds crashing into the hall, metal twisting and banging. it was scary. >> the ship with 4500 passengers had been headed to port canaveral florida, and is on the way back to its home port in new jersey. dawn champion, cbs news.
