jury. prosecutors called 16 witnesses to the stand last week. asking for any testimonies. thanks for joining us. i am britt moreno. minute. she's charged with first-degree murder and unlawful termination of a pregnancy. she allegedly stabbed michelle wilkins and cat -- and cut out her unborn baby. jamie leary's live at the boulder county courthouse with the very latest for us. good afternoon jamie. >> reporter: britt this wrapped up much more quickly than anyone expected. the fate of 35-year-old dynel lane now rests in the hands of attorneys from both sides took closing arguments. the prosecution with the last word arguing that while it may have been a bad plan, her plan was to commit for -- first- degree murder. the defense argued that they attempted manslaughter but when you look at the crime it's

attempted murder. >> why would she wait so long after miss wilkins got to her house to attacker. why wouldn't she have a plan of how she was going to kill her. why would not she have a story to tell her family or at the very least a story to tell the police. it just doesn't make any sense. it doesn't make any sense why a woman, a mother of two, who has someone who loved her, who didn't even want to have kids, would do something like this. it doesn't make any sense because it was a hasty, impulsive and wrestling -- reckless act. >> it is not reckless.

it is intentional behavior. actions speak louder than words, and when you are trying to determine what was somebody thinking, what did they intend when they harm another human being, you have to look at how they went about inflicting the arm. when you do that in this -- inflicting the harm. when you do that in this case, the only conclusion you can reach is that what it -- for whatever reason, for whatever thought or goal she had, whatever the plan was it wasn't a good plan, she intentionally, deliberately cut michelle wilkins to take and kill her baby. deliberating. they can take as long as they parties to stay close by. last week the judge allowed the jury to find her guilty if they so choose or find her guilty of

apartment on park avenue and i- 25. someone had called police to check on her. the identity of the suspect and victim have not yet been released. snow is working its way into the state. varying elevations -- get a good shot of this. lauren whitney has the timeline so lauren, when will the snow start falling? >> we already have a little bit as we head toward the eastern -- western slope. we have winter weather advisories for parts of the high country, some of the western mountains could see 4 to 8" of snow, like winter park, breckinridge 8 to 10" possible. as you head toward evergreen and areas like idaho springs, georgetown and bailey you are looking at 6" to 10". for the denver area, no advisories maybe 1 to 4 -- 1" 2- 4%" for the denver area. -- to 4" for the denver area.

>> police are looking for a man who sexually assaulted a woman in douglas county. they released this sketch of the suspect. take a good look. the douglas county sheriff's happened thursday night in parker. the victim was driving on the east side of the city when the car broke down and that's when allegedly. he's described as a fit white old. please call police if you know anything about this man. new at noon for kids in el paso county are recovering after authorities say they were attacked by three great danes. the kids were taken to the hospital and they had surgery. right now doctors say they are in stable condition. the dogs were taken by the humane society. it happened on saturday in the small town of rush, east of colorado springs. great danes are not known to be a vicious breed of dog but one rush resident thinks she knows what happened. >> if you are going to tease them or something like that, and maybe the kids didn't, i

that from any dog, i think. >> the owner of the dogs was served with unlawful ownership of a dangerous dog. happening today the uber driver accused of going on a shooting spree in kalamazoo, michigan over the weekend is expected to be arraigned this afternoon. investigators are looking for a motive. kenneth craig has more. >> reporter: investigators say 45-year-old jason dalton picked his victims at random, killing six people and seriously injuring two others. police say the uber driver began a shooting spree at an apartment complex in kalamazoo, michigan saturday night. he killed a 17-year-old and his father at a car dealership and then gunned down for women at a cracker barrel. surveillance video led to his arrest early sunday morning. >> reporter: he's a former ownership -- insurance adjuster and father of two. he's being arraigned at the county courthouse monday as investigators search for a motive. >> there is no connection that

different sets of victims to each other, or to any of the victims to mr. dalton. >> reporter: dalton had no criminal history before the rampage and uber says he passed a background check. investigators say he may have picked up passengers during his shooting spree. mart sutton and his friend -- mark dutton and his friend said they got nervous when he pulled up in a black hh are matching the description of what police were looking for. >> he said this is and hh are, you're not the guy are you? hundreds were -- hundreds gathered sunday night at a church as they tried to make sense of the senseless. kenneth craig kalamazoo, a woman shot at an to survive. a 14-year-old girl shot at the cracker barrel was originally declared dead by doctors until she squeezed her mothers hand. a wedding ring that fell off during the broncos gave most

welcome back, let's take a look outside where we have cloud cover. it's been pretty thick and we're starting to see winds

map outside. right now gusts close to 24 miles an hour at dia. winds are about 22 in the area, so picking up just a bit from kyowa to bennett. looking at temperatures, not too bad, just know sun for it to feel warmer. 40 ndaa, 40s and 50s on the eastern plains. 46 in boro -- in boulder, 25 in steamboat and 47 in grand junction. you can see rain and snow in parts of the foothills, here in denver just on the cloudy side. snow and rain all the way down to las animas county. rain and showers on the western slope and starting to see that fill in more so as we look at the futurecast you will see the snow increase in the high country through the afternoon and into the evening hours. larimer county, denver -- maybe a little bit of rain and then overnight tonight we start to see that. by 11:00 tonight

down south denver could have a little bit of snow as well. you may be getting snow as well and then overnight we see a little bit of snow in denver but even by 9 am it's mainly to ourselves it fizzles out quite a bit. on the north sound of -- side of town -- more in the south. tomorrow afternoon and evening we start to clear and we get sunshine with snow continuing in the high country. as we take a look at what's going on, a to 12" for areas like breckinridge, winter park, and others. up to a foot in southern mountains and as you head toward the western mountains from steamboat to vail, aspen, crested butte looking at 4 to 8" work some of the foothills like evergreen, conifer, to georgetown 6" to 10". here in denver, a little bit less maybe 1" to 3". as you head south maybe 1" to
