on highway 83. the couple was headed north towards parker. to meet up with friends. cbs4's jeff todd is live now, jeff, what a sad story. >>reporter: jim, this is where the douglas county hogs get together every thursday night and also on weekends when it's nice, there was a group e getting together on saturday, brian and jackie never made it, that's why the flag is at half-staff so their friends can honor them. we spoke with several people today who said brian and yak ki were the nicest -- jackie were the nicest people they'd ever met. they'd instantly open their heart to anyone. one friend told us brian and jackie were so genuine, they restored his faith in man kind. the motorcycle community is dealing with the huge loss. >> live in our hearts forever, but they, you know, whatever we can go to help that family, right now, that's the important thing. they probably don't know most of us. because we knew them.

their family, so whatever they need. >>reporter: the colorado state patrol has arrested 28-year-old for two counts of drugs and alcohol. she admitted to the investigators she smoked marijuana on the morning of the crash and drank two glasses of wine. 1:30 in the afternoon, she swerved into on come traffic while reading a text message on her phone. court documents say there were two empty alcohol bottles, a glass pipe and raw marijuana in her car. news spread throughout the riding community here in douglas county, 80 people from all over the state galtherred heres last -- gathered here last night. the dakota tavern, friend of everyone. that's who brian and jackie were. we're live in douglas county tonight. jeff todd, cbs4 news. thank you. investigators say alcohol may be a factor in a roll over crash that left several children injured, at bowles and south pierce in jefferson county. 7 children inside of this suv

two of the children have serious injuries. the driver has been identified as angela densemore. it looks like the children should make a full recovery. >> i'll thankful that everybody is okay, they've got bumps and bruises, when you see something like this, man, i mean, it usually means something worse. >> densemore is still in the hospital. investigators say she will likely face dui charges when she is released. right now, new information after a pickup truck almost wound up in the south platt river. copter 4 shows us that wreck in a very precarious spot this morning off i-25 near alameda. investigators think that the driver was trying to avoid a crash and veered off the highway. two lanes of southbound 25 had to be closed for a few hours. the driver was able to climb out unhurt but he did get a ticket for careless driving.

well they want to review the video to shake sure their notes and reports are accurate. that's why we have the bill. >>reporter: north dakota is the only state right now that mandates sanity exams be recorded. the bill did pass its first committee today, but i think it will have an uphill battle, making it through both chambers here. live at the capitol, shaun boyd, cbs4 news. now to an update, memorial service will be held in arvada for corporal nate carrigan, shot and killed while trying to evict a man from his home near bailey last week. two other deputies were hurt before the gunmans was shot and killed. a memorial service for carrigan will be held march 14th at the faith bible church in arvada. governor hickenlooper is endorsing the request for a super fund cleanup of old mining sites in southwestern colorado. toxic waste water from one of those mines, polluted the animas river last summer. the gold king mine near
