today on who should be their party's nominee. we start this 5:30 half hour with breaking news from fort collins. one man is hurt in an overnight hit-and-run. around 11:30 last night, police say 53-year-old tailor was found laying -- >> his bicycle and backpack found a little feet away. he was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. police do not have a vehicle description, but we'll update you if we get information on that story. thanks for joining us, i'm britt moreno. >> i'm alan gionet. first days of march. let's find out about the weather picture. here's lauren standing by. >> i had to change my calendars in the weather center. i forgot to do that. windy in the southern part of the state. we're going to be gusty today. they're down from yesterday. don't get too excited because tomorrow is going to be a windy day.

s. a touch better than yesterday. 29 in denver. 21 in greeley. 20s in the eat stern plains and cooler than yesterday -- 20s in the eastern plains. 34 in grand junction. looking at our satellite and radar, a few clouds and a mountain wave cloud that will pass through. mostly sunny to partly sunny skies today. 53 degrees by noon. and 50s by 5:00 tonight. our mountains may get snow and we'll talk about that. and fire watches. but let's check with joel. >> looking better than it did last night. passenger restrictions in place for commercial vehicles, but they have expired. what about the drive southbound coming into town. speeds into the 50s and 60s. a patch of slowing passed us 36. that's we have the average speed of 38 hours. the

from us 36 out to i-70. looking across the denver metro area, c 470, nice and wide open. a straight shot from denver to boulder to us 36. if you're about to get in your car, tune over to koa to get your traffic. the strong will get stronger today. it's the biggest day if the 2016 primarily season. super tuesday will help phoning us in on the top candidates for the presidential race. 13 states and 1 territory are participating in super tuesday including colorado. tonight, colorado republicans and democrats will hold caucuses, but tonight's gathers will not impact how our state allocates its delegates.

-- they cancelled the preference poll after they were binding. delegates would have been required to vote at the national convention for the candidate who wins the caucus, but now they're not going to. neither the democrats or republicans will award delegates. we'll report the results of that poll. colorado is one of three states where republicans won't weigh in on who the nominee for president should be. many would like to see the primarily brought back. there's two proposed ballots to establish -- unaffiliated voters can participate. according to the chamber of commerce, unaffiliated voters make up 30%. the caucuses are the first in a four-step process of nominating a favorite. two to three

>> voters will choose nearly half of the required number of delegates needed. breaking news from overnight. lakeland police want to find two men involved in a shooting after a man enticed them with a craigslist ad. police tells us a man was taken to the hospital with a non life-threatening gunshot wound. it happened at 26th and pierce. police say the victim posted an ad on craigslist for some sort of illegal activity. police have not confirmed the nature of the activity or whether it was drug related. the only thing we were told about the two men they a green ford with license plate -- we're awaiting word of charges after a -- a hash oil ex traction caused it. the fire happened last night after 8:00 in the 4800 block of west 73rd avenue. westminster fire was able to get it under control

managed to get out of the house. two treated on scene for smoke inhalation. when hash oil is done incorrectly, the ex traction part can cause a flash fire or a fire ball which can blowout windows and doors to a home. a man involved in the kidnapping which started with a winding chase through southern california manages to slip away from police. it began yesterday afternoon as a man was driving this hummer with his girlfriend and two small children inside. the chase led to a standoff in newport beach where the man stopped the vehicle. at one point, the man came out of the suv with a small child and the woman and the kids run to safety. the man headed up the hill -- this morning, police are still on a manhunt. this morning, sports caster erin andrews is going to take the stand in her civil lawsuit against a hotel. a man admitted

that stems from a 2008 incident where the andrews. we have the testimony. >> on the stand monday, erin andrew s s relived the nightmare of finding out secretly shot nude videos of her hit the internet. >> everybody put up that i was doing it for publicity and apart. >> the fox sports broadcaster is suing michael barrette, the hand who recorded the videos and the franchise owner of this marriott for $75 million. the hotel is where barrette recorded one of the videos through a peep hole. andrews testified she found out about the videos in july of 2009 when a friend called me. >> he said, there's necked video of you on the internet. i said, no there's not that. i don't do that. what are you talking about. >> she was hysterical.

about getting a call that night and the lingering effects of the video. >> she still has to travel and that makes her very nervous. >> video clips from barrette's deposition were played in court monday. in them, he described renting hotel rooms next to andrews to shoot the videos. the franchise owner of the hotel maintains barrette is solely to blame. dawn champion, cbs news. >> barrette spent two and a half years in federal prison for recording the videos. he has not shown up in court to fight the lawsuit. a couple from parker was killed on a motorcycle ride weekend. investigator believes the driver who hit them was drunk and texting. kelly werthmann says the couple was known as good people who were kick to help others. >> they were best friends. >>reporter: the douglas county

bern were friends to everybody. >> they were friends -- >> the cup was killed saturday afternoon while riding on highway 83 in frank town. it was just about 1:30 when 27-year-old munoz swerved into traffic while reading a text message. she admitted she smoked marijuana that morning and had been drinking wine with a friend before the crash. they were empty alcohol bottles, and a glass pipe and marijuana in his car. this isn't the first time munoz was involved in a scene. she shot and killed home invasions but cleared by make my day law. she's facing vehicular homicide and dui. >> imagine women crying. we bared our soul. >> a memorial rest near the highway where jackie -- where their last ride came to an end.

winds crank up tomorrow. winds around the denver area, parts of the foothills to the eastern plains. could top around 50 miles-an-hour. the fact we've been so dry, fire weather is going to be a huge concern tomorrow. be extra careful. one spark can do damage. we had a cold front coming through and snow in some areas, but nothing too significant. we may see more in ohio country. 15 for colorado springs. so you'll notice when you leave the house this morning, it's chillier. so that puts us at 29 in denver. 32 in boulder. 42 in fort collins. 20 in craig and 34 in grand junction. on our satellite and radar, we have a few clouds. we do stay on the sunny side across the eastern plains and light snow in our high country today with wind and we could have more clouds here in denver in the evening hours.

tomorrow, a couple of inches of snow in the mountain area and the winds crank up for us for the front range, eastern plains and the foothills. we're concerned about fire danger tomorrow. temperatures, 57 in denver. 60 boulder. 59 in fort collins and greeley. up per 50s, low 60s for the eastern plains. 45 in grand junction. tomorrow, 65 with a high fire danger. 66 on thursday. and fairly mild to end the rest of the week. let's check with joel. how is the drive going? >> in town, not too bad. we have seen passenger restrictions and those have expired for now. us 6 over loveland pass, those do remain in place. you can see the sheen on the road and a couple cars. here we are as you head southbound coming into town. look at the speeds dip from the 50s to 60s. it's a

today, senate leaders are going to meet with the president they're going to talk about the supreme court seat left vacant by the death of judge scalia. the court is hearing cases and an

there's nobody to break a tie. the president plans to make a nomination. republicans said they won't hold nominees and will not vote. and mitch mcconnel said he won't talk to one. also today, the family of the late supreme court justice scalia will hold a memorial that will take place in washington dc. other justices are expected to deliver remarks at the service. scalia died in february 13 in texas. a presentation at the geneva motor show got an unusual protest. a board member stackman was introducing the latest model and a man dressed in cover alls came out and vehicle. he said he needed to fix it because it could have admission issues. call in security. he's referring to the

bob dylan fans get a -- we have today's eye on entertain. >> please welcome your host. >> viewer ship for the academy awards continues to slide. ratings for the show dropped to the let evident level in seven years despite wide spread -- classic photos of bob dylan are on display at the grammy museum in los angeles. the exhibit features 50 images of the singer song writer during a pivotal time in his year. >> new york base photographer daniel gramer took the photos between 1964 and 1964. the exit will be on exit until may 24th. dylan, 75th birthday. cbs announced it renewed -- for another two years. currently, in its 13th season. the series is television's top ranked drama.

skies. a windy today. the good news is the winds down from yesterday. the bad news is tomorrow, they crank right back up. so it's windy in some spots. 37 mile an hour winds in winter park. estes park, close to 30. black hawk, 20 miles-an-hour. 34 in fort collins. 27 in burlington. 31 in grand junction. looking at our satellite and radar. we have cloud cover to start the day. we have plenty of clear sky out there. sunny skies today. breezy, not too bad compared to yesterday. and we have a chance for mountain snow today. i'll talk about the winds for tomorrow and fire danger in a moment. joel, how is the drive though? >> we're starting to see it load up in the usual spots. one of those usual spaces is commerce city. you can see the long line of taillights and the long line of headlights as folks make their way either direction
