but the temperature warminger and -- temperatures warmer and winds blowing. >> it's on look out mountain, so watch for gusty winds. look at the winds in berthoud pass, kenosha pass. winds at 15 to 20 miles-an-hour. nederland, 20 miles-an-hour winds. not terrible, but it's going to get worse through the afternoon hours. red flag warning starts at 11:00 a.m. from the front range. humidity low today. fire danger high. the wind s s have eased up earlier this morning. we were at 50 degrees in denver. we've dropped to 38. 54 in fort collins and boulder. 28 degrees in greeley. 30 in avon and 34 in grand junction. rain and snow on the western slope right now along parts of i-70 from glenwood springs through gypsum and into the foothills. estes park, you're getting snow this morning too. for your hour-by-hour forecast, noon, 60 degrees.

and upper 50s by 5:00. strong winds this afternoon. we'll talk more about that in a moment. first, let's check with joel. >> that's going to make for a tough drive in the high country with the high wind, but along the front range as you travel along c 470. take a look at the drive southbound coming into down. we have the morning commute underway as you're making your way southbound getting passed 92nd. a lot of tail and brake lights. dipping into the 40s and 30s. 13 minute oz that drive. show you the broader picture. the earlier we had at colfax and cherry have been moved -- moved out of the way thanks joel.

it's filing for chapter 11 bankruptcy. the denver post reports the company is in debt by more than $1 billion. sports authority also skipped a big interest payment in january. the company says it will close about 140 stores over the next three months. no word on the effected locations, but sports authority confirmed it's closing three colorado stores, including the sports castle downtown. a woman seriously hurt from a hit-and-run. shawn chitnis is live this morning as we learn the details and we understand police have an alert out and everyone should be watching here. >>reporter: alan, that's right. police are looking for help with any information about this hit-and-run or trying to locate the car that was involved in this hit-and-run. we know this happened last night around 9:00. and police tells us they have an updated description of that car now. it is a 1998 gray lincoln sedan with damage to the right

down the latest super tuesday results. >> clinton won primaries in caucus in seven states that you can see in blue. sanders secured wins in four and that includes colorado right there. the overwhelming majority of people in caucuses in colorado supported sanders. a straw poll shows 59% of support to clinton's 40%. clinton is rolling though towards her par party's nomination. i want to look at the republicans. republican trump draw closer to there's the race. you can see it on the map. trump won in at least 7 states. and those are the states you see in red here. he's picked up alaska, and oklahoma, plus his home state of texas has ted cruz. cruz has made some points here. marco political specialist shaun boyd shows us where the candidates stand after

reshaped this extraordinary election again. among the takeaways, donald trump's appeal is crossing geographical lines and clinton proves her grip on the nomination firm. she dominated among her coconstituents african owe-- trump train beat cruz among efb -- and he beat rubio among moderates. rubio, the accomplishments last best hope in trouble with polls showing trump beating him in his john kasich needing a home state win in ohio or he too is doomed. trump appears all but certain to

is unclear if he'll get enough delegates. in colorado, the republican party did not do a straw poll this year. instead it elected delegates to cast votes at the state gop convention on april 9th. we saw an impressive night for the democratic caucuses. colorado came out to vote in big numbers. sander debated clinton in a non binding poll. jaime leary is live with colorado's results and jaime, you have a look ahead for us. sanders was popular among the young adults at the caucuses in denver and boulder. voters could be seen in lines along the precinct more than an hour after caucusing started. the results, they're not a sure thing. just a forecast as to who will win colorado 66 delegates. this is going to be decided between now and the state conventions in april. the caucuses are just

to select a nominee. between now and then, each party holds assemblies in each county and each district and the party conventions in april. primery -- primerries in june. they declared state and local races including several candidates hoping to challenge democratic us senator michael bennett in november. now, most of colorado's democratic party establishment endorses clinton. and they expect that she eventually will be the final nominee. live in denver, jaime leary, cbs 4 morning news. >> thank you, jaime. next up for the candidates are contest. kansas, maine, and kentucky, and nebraska --

primaries on march 15th along with illinois, missouri and north carolina. scott kelly is back in earth's gravity for the first time in nearly a year after arrived last night. he did give a thumbs up moments after he landed. he spent 340 days in orbit. the same number of days it would take to get to mars. kelly studied the effects of long durations of space and he fessed up about the realities of deal with a harsh environment. >> for instance, have no running water. it's like i've been in the woods camping for a year. >> that's a long camping trip. he saw 11,000 sunrises and sunsets. he's going to fly to houston today for a final health check and they'll compare his health to that of his twin brother mark. good morning baseball fans. we have good news. the rockies back in action and taking the

better in the next ten minutes before they fade out. our sunrise at 6:30 this morning. taking a look at our wind speed. wind is an issue. winds close to 40 miles-an-hour in winter park. as we zoom into denver area, not bad downtown. the foothills, winds 20 to 30 miles-an-hour from evergreen to estes park into golden and morrison. looking at our red flag warning, this will start at 11:00 a.m. these winds are going to get stronger. the closer to the lunch hour, the stronger they get. humidity down to 15%. winds are going to gust up to 50 miles-an-hour for the areas in red. temperatures morning, we start off with 55 in boulder and 54 in fort collins. here in denver, 38. 28 in greeley. 30s 40s on the eastern plain s s. 30 in avon. 34 in grand junction. satellite and radar, cloud cover here a

we zoom in, we have snow from craig into areas near rifle. and rain near glenwood spring to gypsum and eagle. it's raining in meeker. heading into our foothills, red feather lakes and allen's park, and parts along owe we have -- we have some snow. that snow can be heavy. could see a half inch and pick up two to four inches of snow in some areas. that snow fizzles out. denver, we stay dry, but gusty and a spot or two in the eastern plains. it stays windy, but better tomorrow morning, and tomorrow afternoon, a few cloud was some -- with that wind really calming down. temperatures today, 66 in denver. 62 in boulder and fort collins. 60s and 70s on the eastern plains and 40s towards the high country and 63 over in

several state and rubio won minnesota. carson says he's not dropping out. we have more ahead in our next half hour this morning. a bill to limit the use of red light cameras in colorado is moving forward. it passed out of the state house yesterday. that bill would not allow the cameras on local streets or in neighborhoods, but it would still allow them in school and construction zones. and on major streets. those exceptions were added last year and the bill headed to the senate. there's a franchise tag and the broncos are going to talk about a long term deal for von miller. he'll make more than $14 million this season under the tag. that gives them until july 15th now to reach an agreement. expect that dollar amount to be closer to $18

traveling west on park avenue west. this he were collecting-- they were collecting evidence and you can see the clothes of the victim still lying here. trump won 7 states in which republicans voted. he leads with 315 delegates. cruz won in texas and oklahoma last night. he has 216. rubio scored his first overall win in minnesota. he has 105 delegates. 1,237 are nomination. sanders. she came away with victories in 7 states. clinton has 1,003 delegates and sanders won his home state and colorado.

gust from meeker and winter park, we've had winds up to 43 miles-an-hour. zooming into the foothills, downtown denver, i was on roof top, it's mild out there. as you head towards morrison and golden, winds at 25 miles-an-hour. you can tell by the darker colors, we have stronger wind in the foothills. they're going to get stronger and that comes with increased fire danger. high winds at -- all the way up to the eastern plains, wind gust up to 50 miles-an-hour. gusty into the southeast. be cautious outside. the winds are dangerous when they get this strong. it has been extra dry on the plains. 28 in greeley. 31 in lineman. 55 in boulder . 34 in avon. 35 in craig and 34 in grand junction. on our satellite and radar, cloud cover here across the front range and
