brought back to colorado to be sentenced. he also faces serious charges in maryland. >> reporter: he was arrested for auto theft, drug possession, then officers in maryland discovered this guy was wanted here in colorado. >> hoping to have a reading done. >> reporter: he claimed to be a psychic. but adam marks clearly couldn't predict he'd eventually be caught again. the 33-year-old convicted thief has been on the run since september, 2014 after skipping his sentencing for stealing nearly $75,000 from francine evers. >> it's like oh, man! how could i be so stupid! but you've got to consider who you're dealing with, and these are basically master con men. >> reporter: she mifrt met him in loveland for a -- first met him in loveland for a reading. >> he said your aura is bad, you're gonna have all kinds of physical health problems if we don't do something about that.

thousands of dollars over several months following his every order to improve her aura, before realizing she'd been scammed. >> $73,400 in cash. >> reporter: a warrant was issued for his arrest when he didn't appear in court. he was 15 into custody wednesday in maryland. back in colorado, evers is still waiting to have her money returned. >> i trusted him, and he swore on the lives of his children that the money would be returned to me. >> reporter: when i spoke to one of the officers who arrested marks in maryland, he said that he typed the name into his computer and found our prior coverage of this case at cbsdenver.com. that's when the officer also said he turned to his partner and gave him a high-five because they helped

the family of a man in fort collins severely injured in a hit and run says he is now breathing on his own. it happened late monday night. >> reporter: four days after the accident, and all george taylor's family knows is that he was found in this busy intersection. but what happened and why someone would leave him for dead is still a mystery. >> come forward. >> reporter: mario florez is speaking out for his brother, george taylor, who had been fighting for his life. >> his left leg was shattered. and the backbone on his right leg, that was broken. >> reporter: fort collins police say monday night, someone hit taylor near the intersection of college and state park drive and drove away. his bike and a bag were neatly on the curb. >> why would he cross the street?

>> reporter: after several days and surgeries later, he is breathing on his own. >> it's gonna take some time. we got us a long haul. >> reporter: he is hopeful his brother will soon be strong enough to shed some light on what happened. he has a message for whoever it was that left his brother behind. >> i know you're scared, you don't want to come forward. just think, it could have been somebody in your family or one of your friends. >> reporter: police are now asking for anyone with information to come forward. police in brighton are looking for a man accused of breaking into an officer's home and stealingly guns. they -- stealing guns. he is 6'0", 175, and likely armed. police believe he might be hiding out with friends or relatives in denver or lakewood. and a group of teenaged carjacking suspects were arrested today. all three were

of crimes including carjacking a chevy. police got a tip they were near the national forest. they surrounded that home and the boys eventually ly surrendered. the couple hit and killed saturday riding their motorcycle has been laid to rest. their motorcycle club honored the memory of brian and jackie with a tribute ride today. the driver accused of hitting that couple is behind bars in douglas county. police say she was high and texting when she swerved into oncoming traffic. questions about colorado's marijuana dui law tonight after a man from lakewood was found not guilty of the crime. a blood test shows he had well over the legal limit but his attorney says he wasn't high at the time. there you see cbs 4's melissa garcia reporting from jefferson county.

verdict very quickly in this one. >> reporter: it took the jury just 30 minute ss to come back with that not guilty verdict. that's because marijuana avkts different people differently, and in this case his client was perfectly capable of driving, the attorney said. >> it's not like alcohol. marijuana is different. the standards are not one size fits all. >> reporter: attorney robert cory says his client was pulled over last year in lakewood for a burned out headlight. after a voluntary roadside test, the officer believed the 27-year-old driver to be under the influence of cannabis. ralph banks was arrested and charged with dui. >> it was a nightmare. worst experience of my life. >> reporter: he submitted to a blood test which is found the level of thc at 7.9 nanograms, well over the legal limit to drive. yet a jury on friday found banks not guilty.

and i'm glad that a jury of his peers in jefferson county agreed that he was being responsible and that he was not impaired. even to the slightest degree. now with this case, it's perfectly legal to get behind the wheel after consuming marijuana, as long as you're not impaired. and that's the key. you can do it if you're not impaired. if you're impaired, do not get behind the wheel of a vehicle. >> reporter: in a statement, jefferson county district attorney pete weir "these are difficult cases to prosecute. our current law is not strong enough to effectively hold people accountable." and a county district attorney's office said many marijuana dui guilty verdict. as for why, she says the answer to that is

new developments in the latest twist in the oj simpson murder case. sources tell cbs news a knife just revealed by police does not appear to be the same type of knife used to kill si-noel brown -- nicole brown simpson and ron goldman. but police will check it for evidence. >> within the last month, lapd became aware of an item that was allegedly recovered by a citizen at the rockingham property. possibly during the demolition of the site. >> a worker who helped level simpson's home in 1998 says he turned the knife over to an off-duty l.a.

stealing nude pictures of his teacher from her cellphone and posting them online. the scandal last month forced teacher lee ann arthur to resign. she says she was out of the classroom when the boy went through her unlocked phone and stole the pictures. other students and parents have started a petition drive calling for arthur to get her job back. plumbing crews in fingerprint michigan have started replacing lead pipes. they are putting in copper pipes. the mayor of flint wants all the pipes replaced and has asked the state of michigan for $55 million to pay for it. nasa astronaut scott kelly spoke for the first time since returning from his year-long stay on the space station. kelly

peyton manning doing a little speaking this week, he was in las vegas today. he made no indication that he's getting ready to announce that he's retiring. it's looking sxhoer more like the -- more and more like the broncosville to release him -- broncos will have to release him to avoid the $19 million contract. his contract says it's only if the broncos would have asked him to pass a physical. so another sign that the team, looking to move on. even if manning is still undecided on what he wants to do next.
