something strange in the water. they weren't quite sure but they realized it was a man's body. that's when they called police. investigators with lakewood police got to the scene at about 2:00, and though a spokesperson with the department says foul play is not suspected in the man's death at this point, it was treated as a crime scene. a dive team with west metro fire pulled tout man's body just about an hour ago, and lakewood police say there is a man missing from the green mountain area which is not far from here, but at this point, it is too soon to connect the cases. now, the fishermen that i spoke to that spotted the body said looked to be a man in his 40s or 50s. the body is now at the coroner's office. they will determine the man's identity as well as his cause of death. that's the latest from lakewood, kelly werthmann. a faculty member of the cu campus has been found dead. we're told someone found the faculty member in a research

colorado is under. >> reporter: and the state's oil and gas conservation commission, which regulates fracking proposed two new rules last year designed to minimize the impact or effect that energy companies cause to communities, some in the energy field say that the proposals are too restrictive, the commission has yet to comment. as soon as we do we'll get that on cbsdenver.com. melissa garcia, cbs4 news. despite the neighborhood concerns the number of oil rigs exploring for oil and natural gas is actually declining here in the u.s. it is now near a record low. oil services company baker hughes says two rigs went off- line in colorado just last week. this year, 392 rigs sought oil, and 97 explored for natural gas. a year ago 1,192 rigs were active. we've got new video of two crooks dubbed the monkey mask burglars. this video shows one of the two

5:08 pm
spreading just off the coast of california here, bringing tremendous amounts of rain. this eventually may bring rain into colorado, but for tomorrow, it's going to increase the wind around here, get denver's temperature up to near 70, but also really increase the fire danger over eastern part of colorado. so from pueblo, down through trinidad, lamar, and the extreme eastern side of the state we have a red flag warning tomorrow afternoon where gusts will be up to 40 miles per hour. even in the areas that are not shaded in red, colorado springs, denver, fort collins, sterling, we are still going to be dry and windy. so i would just suggest all over eastern colorado, in the next 24 to 48 hours, be careful with fire, because we do have a front that's coming in that may bring us rain to start next week, but ahead of it we're going to have some wind tomorrow to contend with. we will talk more about that in a little bit. it but a transitioning forecast for that you might actually give us some measurable moisture around here. >> thanks, dave.

a ton of rain on the coast of california. in fact, some areas already have flood warnings going on because they're saying one to two inch owe they're seeing one to two-inch rainfall amounts out of these showers. between now and monday, tomorrow we still have this high over texas that's giving aus southerly flow here. we will see rain and snow develop in the mountains here. so probably about late morning, midday tomorrow we might see some snow start up in the mountains. good for skiing. we might see a little low elevation rain ahead of this. look at all the snow lining up into utah. that moisture will be slamming into colorado come monday morning we'll have some snow, and by monday afternoon we might see a little bit of rain, maybe a few rain showers mixed with snow showers in the denver metro area. a little bit of a mix. most of that is going to melt. then it gets out of here quickly. we've got a shot of moisture for monday afternoon butt should be gone by the time we get to tuesday. with that moisture, tomorrow evening from 6:00 in the

could see up to five to ten inches of snow coming up. and in addition to that, ahead of this front we've had some good winds blowing, so this afternoon out here in burlington we've add red flag warning for gusts of wind up to 40 miles per hour and 5 to 10% relative humidity. that will be in place again tomorrow as the winds will be very strong. i would just throw in the rest of the eastern plains. it's not in the red flag warning, but with the wind that kicks up tomorrow and the dryness around here, any little spark could take off rather quickly so watch out for that. high today made it to 67. normal is 51, so way above normal but not near the record. the record was in 1910 at 76 degrees. out there now it's 6 2. we have a south-southeast wind at 13. humidity only 17% but awfully dry. joe down in southern colorado has 59 degrees. debbie in fort collins is coming in at 56 this afternoon. so into the night we will still have these high clouds. by tomorrow morning, though, we
