now, on to the weather alert on this wet monday, eastbound i-70, closed right now, up on vail pass. a lot of accidents to get cleared away, the cdot cameras up there, showing us the snow covered pavement and eastbound 70, is stopped. part of a system that brought us some very much needed moisture, now, earlier today, a mix of rain and snow rolled all across the denver area, this was the scene this morning in golden. also, want the to show you this picture taken outside broncos headquarters in centennial. the snow was really coming down. in arapahoe county for a while. want to check in with ed greene, didn't last long, we'll take what we can get. >> that's the way we've got to look at this one, jim. we had all four seasons today. this morning, 7:00 a.m. sunshine over the eastern plains, we did start to see snow north. then the cold front comes through, watch it push the moisture right down into denver. and then, that leaves. so we had snow, we had rain, we had sunshine, and yes, we even had thunderstorms, look at all

all the way into portions of nebraska, even wyoming saw a few lightning strikes. now, we had that rain, heavy at times, moved out quickly. saw sunshine this afternoon after this system moved out. and that's what we're looking at now. clearing skies bind it, but if you look to the southwest, here comes another little system, i think stays pretty much south of our area, but close enough that the mountains could see a little bit of snow and maybe by wednesday, a few isolated rain or snow showers here in the denver again, you'll see that in the hour-by-hour forecast, coming up. all right. ed, thank you. only cbs4 is there when four snoeshlers who went -- snowmobilers who went missing over the weekend were brought back safely. they had to stay outside of grand lake near rocky mountain national park. matt kroschel is live, luckily, these guys were pretty prepared. >>reporter: and karen, as that preparation, having things like food and a lighter on board with

backcountry that rescuers say likely saved these guys' lives. after a long, cold night, lost in colorado's backcountry. four grateful snowmobilers are reunited with friends and family. >> got in heavy valleys, creek beds, had to go up over the next ridge. that was a good ride. >> a little too thick in the trees, too dark, had to stop for the night. >>reporter: search and rescue crews thought the worst. several search teams left the command post in rural grand county, not knowing what they would find. using cell phone pinging technology, and aided by good old fashioned luck, search crews found the missing men before 10:00 this morning. >> all four of them were together, god knows, they're all four together, they'd be okay. >> we went by. >>reporter: the group was repaired for the survival kit, allowing them to build a fire and a small emergency shelter to hunker down after becoming lost in the dark and snow. >> i'm sure my wife is going

>>reporter: it's a good reminder instant. and the snowmobilers will tell you being prepared is the death. and those conditions continue to change, the know has stopped now -- snow has stopped now, it was very hard up here. a couple of hours ago. how quickly things can change here in colorado's back country. live in grand county, matt newsroom. thank you, matt. neighbors rush in to help when they notice smoke coming from an apartment in their complex. at least one unit on eng l street is heavily damaged. one man moved quickly to make sure everyone got out of the home and he noticed another problem. >> i just noticed some propane tanks outside, i grabbed them. from this apartment and the other side, the fire is coming out. i took the propane tanks and put them on the sidewalk over there. >> good thinking. west metro fire tells us kids

have started that fire and an adult was home with but, but she had stepped out. happening tomorrow, crews will entirely shut down i-70 through glenwood canyon, that sprech of -- stretch of interstate will be closed to 9:00 to 4:00 for rock fall mitigation. that massive slide closed that stretch of the sfwer state for more than a week last month. crews finally have two lanes of traffic moving. one in each direction. it is still not clear when the repairs will be entirely complete. and campaign 2016 news, were foer new york mayor michael bloomburg says he will not enter the presidential race as a candidate. the data he has reviewed does not show he could win the race as an independent. smokers could get a $75 fine, a second or third time and the fines double. lauren dispirito live in boulder

the fines also apply to people who leave their pets in cars in the parking lots there. >>reporter: karen, they want to cut down on that happening on extremely hot and cold days. they say they got a lot of complaints about that last year. and they want to work with animal control to develop a policy to keep those animals >> pretty. >>reporter: it's the sights that bring david bloom from thornton to one of boulder county's ranch. >> i like to see the wildlife and the openness. >>reporter: to keep from interfering with wildlife, he remains one of the few places where the county does not allow pets. and that's prompting problems. >> one r when it's really hot out, we get a lot of complaints from park visitors and feedback from individuals that see the dogs in the cars. that it's just too hot or they don't have adequate ventilation or water. >>reporter: tuesday, county commission ers will consider proposed new rules for the open spaces.

leaving pets inside of their cars, and from smoking tobacco and marijuana products or consuming edibles. >> it's not something we want the kids to seeshgs not something they want to smell or something they want to be exposed to. >>reporter: the first in the nation to keep visitors from leaving their pedestrian pets inside cars while they use the trails. he says the proposal could also reduce wildfire risks. >> i think it would be quite great to ban smoking, just to ban the potential danger of burning. >>reporter: that's something that organizers say they would set a rule for, once these proposals are approved. and if that happens, if the county leaders decide to go along with it, that will happen at the meeting tomorrow at 11:30. you do have the chance to weigh in you want to give your input.

it is the first such transplant in the united states. cbs4 health specialist joins us out there. >> a culmination of research and training, the transplant team at the cleveland clinic trained with surgeons in sweden, who report five healthy babies from nine womb transplants, a 26-year-old received the first one in the united states. >> at 16, this woman identified only as lindsey was told she couldn't bear a child. >> from that moment on, i have prayed that god would a allow me the opportunity to experience pregnancy. and here we are today at the beginning of that journey. >>reporter: lindsey was born without a uterus, she's the first nasht the u.s. to receive a uterus transplant. >> it evolves a healthy uterus of a woman. the uterus is cooled, transported and implanted into the recipient. >>reporter: the ground breaking

last month at the cleveland clinic. lindsey one of ten who qualified for the research study. >> women crave that experience of carrying their own pregnancies and we know that has women will get that experience. >>reporter: lindsey will have to wait to get pregnant, doctors say after one or two pregnancies, they will remove the uterus, so lindsey is not on rejection drugs. >> they have provided me with a gift that i will never be able to repay. [ applause ] . >>reporter: lindsey and her husband already have three adopted sons. her surgery marked the 13th uterus transplant worldwide. >> nice that she shared her story with us. >> oh, i think so. i think so many women are thinking, yes, me. >> yeah, great. we want to thank everyone who made our girls in science event over the weekend a huge success. >> more than 11,000 people attended the event at the museum of nature and science saturday.

and this is from david, another one of the photojournalists from bronco headquarters in dove valley, and south of the metro area, they've had heavy bands of tonight's temperature thes, mostly in the 20s and 30s over the eastern plains, single country. teens, 20s out west. and then tomorrow, seasonal day, the year. that would mean mostly 50s over the eastern plains, 30s and 40s for the high country, out west. temperatures in the 40s and 50s. all right. here is that denver forecast. for tonight, clearing skies, 34 and 31 are the overnight lows. tomorrow, partly cloudy, 53 and 51 and hey, that's seasonal for this time of the year. then for the next several days, there's the chance for isolated rain showers on wednesday. with a high of 56. thursday, friday, sunny skies, the upper 60s by friday. saturday, we're 65 and yet another chance for a few isolated showers. >> thanks, ed. the iris is warning everyone

knew it was coming, but it's sad rng a tough day for peyton manning as well, mark. >>reporter: yeah, certainly emotional. peyton manning said that the time was right for him to step away, but that didn't make it any easier for the future hall of famer to say good-bye today. the broncos auditorium here at team headquarters was filled toca pass thety with -- capacity with the media from all over the country. and manning delivered another great performance, it was emotional, filled with a few of manning's trademark jokes, he only briefly mentioned the numbers and records but instead spent more time talking about the people, sharing some great memory, including a story from when he first joined the colts. >> when the game was over, i had a chance to shake johnny's hand, and he told me, peyton, you stay at it. i'm pulling for you. well, i have stayed at it. and i've stayed at it for 18
