train car into a creek. coming up, the latest on the injuries. and we got doused with rain and snow yesterday. let find out about the tuesday's forecast. lauren whitney is in the colorado center. we need moisture, but is it coming? >> we're going to see a couple more inches of snow. it looks like a little bit popping up on the western slope. we should stay dry in denver. a few more rain showers tomorrow. we're cooler this morning than yesterday morning after that system roll through. it knocked down the temperatures. 16 degrees cooler in denver. 15 in leadville. 25 degrees different this morning in pueblo. that puts us at 29 in denver. 30 in the springs. 32 in boulder. 23 in avon. 28 in meeker. 24 in craig and pa go is a springs. looking at our hour-by-hour forecast. 49.

a smith, we're down to the lower 50s. mostly sunny to partly sunny skies. it should be a nice day. we'll talk about that in a minute, but first joel hillan tracking our drive. >> not too bad through the bridges. this is i-25 and jillian. we're seeing a few more cars on the roads. one trouble spot along the side street at sheraton and custard. britt, we're seeing slowing along i-25 between u.s. 26 and i-70. >> joel, thank you for that. >> today, the city denver will look to clean out homeless camps in downtown. if you've been out there, you've probably seen them. jaime leary is getting a look. good morning, jaime. >>reporter: good morning, britt. you can see behind me, homeless camps still in place on sidewalks. we're on -- near lawrence and broadway. this morning, city officials will

can see tarps and other personal belongings. by the time the city gets here, those will be moved forcibly to a storage facility. because of a city ordinance, these folks cannot have any of their belongs or camps on the sidewalks at this point in time. the city says they're doing this -- it has become a health and safety risk. that's basically why they're doing this. the people who live in the camp say there's no getting rid of homelessness in colorado. the homeless coalition says the efforts of the city can costly, and unproductive, but these folks here, some of them say they will clear out when the city comes today, but there's officially no set time, but let's take a listen to what some of these folks said. >> there was a paper today saying they're going to do this and doing that. out here,

us, but they're not trying to help us either. >> that's the argument some of the groups are making. you can see behind me, there's protestors that have gathered and some people opposed to the move. but others here to make sure that the move is done with respect and dignity today. there is no official set time as to when this move will come, but city officials, they sent out the flyers yesterday. it gave folks 24 hours to clear out. so today is the day that city officials will begin that cleanup. >> thank you, for that. one campaign actually contemplated calling it quits. here's kim hutchingson with the latest. >>reporter: there's -- in the tight 2016 race, every vote counts. both democratic

we could find out today whether smokers in boulder county could see a fine for smoking in the county parks and rules for open space could happen as well. shawn chitnis is following this story for us. shawn, this is a divisive issue. >>reporter: it's a couple of issues we're looking at. these regulations are a mix of new rules hard to find across the country as well as some that are going to be policies already in place in colorado. here are the two issues that's going before the boulder county commissioners. it's for open spaces in county parks. rangers get complaints during the summer about pets left in cars when people worry about pets getting enough this happens near trails where pets aren't allowed. it will set limits for when it's too hot or too cold when pets are left in cars, but -- the other regulation is going to be about

that's going to include marijuana and cannabis. this is state policy, but a change in county rules when park rangers deal with anyone breaking that law on their own. rangers could write up tickets for leaving their pets in the car at boulder parks. reporting live, shawn chitnis, cbs 4 morning news. >> shawn, thank you for that. tom has talked to owners since crimes happened a few months ago. >> i kind of got a weird feeling. >>reporter: dave present is describing the car theft at his dealership nine days ago. a rising number of crimes along a inglewood. >> i turned around and he slammed the door and jumped off the curb and was gone. >> he says a man asked to see his chevy.

the ignition. as he walked to the passenger side, the man gunned away and took off. >> i could have been hit. >> dozens of burglaries were reported in the same area. >> we were hit six times. >> video caught this crook stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars stealing from the apparel store. brian beefed up security cameras and reinforced the windows to his shop. >> they getaway with it. >> inglewood police don't have hard numbers from the recent crime search, but the -- it shows dozens of robberies and thefts in the past 30 days. the crews cut power to the business before committing the crime. >> police say they were testing what our systems were and how it affects alarms. >> jesse has a message. >> go get a job and do something

>> police describes the suspect as a hispanic male with heavy tattoos. they're not sure if the crimes are related. we are seeing why two top -- greeley west principal, shealy robins and assistant principal john are now on paid leave. a spokesperson for the district said they're looking into allegations of irregularities in parent surveys. those are used to gaze parent's satisfactions and used when evaluating principals. let's check at the bus stops. >> cool and clear. temperatures in the low 30s and upper 20s. it's chilly. on the way home, low 50s. still looking at a great drive in town. i-10 -- there's another closure in glenwood springs. we're going to talk about that in a second. you can

good morning, everyone. investigators in california are looking into what caused a commuter train to derail. one train plunged into a creek. crews battled -- at least nine dawn champion has more. >>reporter: the derailment left part of the first car of the creek. passengers are stunned everyone made it out alive.

dawn champion, cbs news. today, train service on the line where the crash took place is cancelled. this morning, 27 degrees in denver. lauren, it feels cooler outside. >> it's cooler to start the day. you'll notice as soon as you leave the house and we'll remain moderate today compared to where we have been, but fairly mild. skies are clear. we're going to stay that way for eastern colorado. the high country could get in on the action. looking at our future cast. around lunch time, more snow in the high country and south, foothills could get snow. here in denver, eastern plains, we should stay dry. down to the southwest, could pick up a couple of inches of snow. we'll take whatever we can get. overnight tonight, that will fizzle out tomorrow morning. we'll wake up to a mixture of sunshine and clouds and tomorrow, spotty showers in the

like britt said, you'll notice when you leave the house, it's chilly outside. 25 for pueblo. 15 degrees cooler in leadville to start the day . that was -- that puts denver at 30. 32 in greeley. 28 in burlington. 27 in steamboat. 21 in gunnison. we're looking at low 50s upper 50s. 52 in denver and greeley. 60 out in ray. 43 in eagle. 44 in aspen. and 50 in grand junction. we have a mild even in store and you'll notice one thing, winds are much calmer. 56 tomorrow and we're looking to getting close to the 70s on friday and saturday. joel, how is the drive going? >> we're seeing taillight and brake lights. this is i-25 and 88th. the taillights you're

southbound direction making their way into town. speeds in the 70s and 60s until you get passed u.s. 36. and that's where the bulk -- ten minutes on the drive from 120th to i-70 is not bad. we're across the denver metro area. a side street accident along sheraton south of 6th avenue at custard. watch out for that. i-225, 6th avenue, us 36, nice and wide open. in the high country, there's chain and passenger restrictions towards the eisenhower and johnson tunnel. it's time for the health watch. children's mother who didn't get enough vitamin d during pregnancy could be at-risk for multiple sclerosis.

here's a live look from our camera here. 29 degrees in denver. a little cooler outside. we finally get a bit of moisture though. yesterday in golden, we had rain-like snow fall. it was some much needed precipitation for the metro area. and it has been a long time coming. since 5 weeks. 5 weeks since we've seen rain or snow. thanks for joining us this half hour. i'm britt moreno. let's get our look at the forecast. lauren whitney is tracking that for us. good morning. >> good morning. we're off to a mild start. rain and snow was nice. we had a little on the western slope. skies clear in denver. a few clouds out there and looking at our temperature change after the system rolled through. 16 degrees cooler in denver to start the day. 11 degrees cooler in colorado springs. high country from 7 to 15 degrees different than yesterday morning. 32 in boulder. 23 in avon. 30 in grand junction and 28 in lineman and burlington.

hour-by-hour forecast. mostly sunny skies early in the day. a few more clouds in the afternoon hours. snow in the high country today. maybe one or two stray showers will roll off. maybe denver will get it, but it stay in the foothill and our mountains. let's check with joel hillan. how is our drive? >> we've had side street trouble spots. this is u.s. 6 and sheraton. you can see nice and wide open as you make your way from lakewood into golden. speeds into the 60s southbound coming into town. 10 minutes is -- still plenty of space between the cars, but we're seeing cars out there on the road. not a lonely drive. this is a stalled vehicle on northville near -- in the high country, there's a chain and passenger restriction in place as you make your way to the eisenhower and johnson
