over here still set up that they had 24 hour to clear out their camps. some people are staying put here in the ball park neighborhood. we have run into a few protestors and folks who have decided to come here to support the cause. i'm going to go over here and introduce you guys to one of those people right now. this is reverend amanda henderson. you're with the inter faith alliance. >> that's right. >> reverend, tell me what you're doing out here this morning? >> i'm here to be a presence with those living on the street and ask questions and ask why we as a city aren't doing more for those out here. no one wants to live on a sidewalk. we need to be doing more for the people as a community to think of creative solutions and give real help as much as they say they are spaces for people. the reality is there aren't. sweeping people off the sidewalks simply moves

starting the -- starting the day at 27 in grand junction. we have -- and we are -- into wyoming i should say. we're looking at our hour-by-hour 40 degrees by noon. a few more clouds into the afternoon and evening , and some of the snow and rain from the high country and foothills may be an isolated shower or two. today. let's check with joel hillan. how is the morning drive going? >> there's a couple of trouble this there's a little stall. delays. we got the radio and which a lot. speeds in the 50s and 60s down into the 30s and 40s. 11 minutes from 120th to i-70.

metro area. crash and stall free. look along i-225 haven't loaded up. but you can see the yellow and orange shading filling in. heads up today, crews are going to shut down i-70 through glenwood canyon. they'll use a helicopter to put netting onto the rock. rocks closed the interstate for a week. crews are going to shut down i-70 from glenwood springs to dot saro. britt, they told us this would happen, but if you're planning on traveling, hopefully you can get out the door. rescue crews said it's a miracle no one died when a train derailed. the train reportedly hit a tree on the tracks last night 50 miles outside of san francisco. 9 people are hurt. 4 have serious injuries. passengers are stunned. everyone

>> it slipped for quite a while. i wasn't sure if we were going to turnover. as soon as i knew we were stabled and started listening for the screens and people were crying for help. >> 214 people were on the train at the time. buses picked up those people who were not hurt. lakewood police want to learn what led to the death of a 1-month-old baby there in lakewood. she died in the hospital three days after officers found her in a town home. someone called them saying the child was having trouble breathing. officers found the baby unresponsive and she had -- the child and her 20-year-old father were the only two inside the town home before the 911 call. neighbors want answers. >> it's shocking and it's a quiet neighborhood.

>> officers haven't made arrest. if you live in boulder, you may not be able to smoke in open spaces or leave your dogs in a car without getting fines. shawn chitnis is live. shawn, how high could the fines be. >>reporter: it's unclear. a lot will need to be figured out if two country. the first one effecting boulder county parks is for open spaces. rangers often get complaints during the summer about pets left in cars when it's too hot outside. people worry about those pets getting enough ventilation and water. a lot of times, this happens at spots when pets aren't allowed at trails. and the other regulation -- so that regulation is only in a few

other one is for smoking in open spots. that includes marijuana and edibles. this is state policy. but a change in county rules will let park rangers deal with anyone breaking that law on their own. rangers could write up tickets for leaving pets in the car. they'll talk about this during their meeting starting at 11:30. shawn chitnis >> shawn, thank you. democrats hold contest in mississippi and michigan. republicans will gather in michigan, mississippi, ohio and hawaii. michigan is the big prize for both sides with 59 delegates online. trump leads

and 21 in craig and 27 in grand junction. on our satellite and radar, it looks like snow popping up on the western slopes. we're dry with a few clouds and we'll a that way today. a chance for snow starting to develop around lunch time in the foothills and the high country and off to our west and down south. here in denver, an isolated storm or two off the foothills and heads into denver. maybe rain snow mix today. this is confined to our high countries today. overnight, skies will clear. tomorrow, a little more snow and rain tomorrow. a few isolated thunderstorms that will roll through. not looking at anything significant, but more moisture tomorrow. temperatures for tomorrow, mild. 52 degrees in denver. 51 in boulder. low to mid-50s out east and 60s mixed in there. 42 in eagle. 43 in aspen. 5 4 in grand junction. if you're planning out your day today, mostly sunny skies to start.

jury awarded sports caster, andrews $55 million in her lawsuit against a convicted stalker and two hotel companies. she sued barrette and the owner and former operator of the marriott at vanderbilt hotel. barrette recorded a video of andrews while she was in her hotel room in 2008. andrews says she suffers from depression as a result of this. the funeral for first lady reagan will -- she'll lie in repose for public visitation on wednesday and thursday. the funeral is closed to the public and she'll be buried next to her husband at the library. she died on sunday. she was 94-year-old. take a look, flags flying at half staff nationwide in honor of nancy reagan. this is a live look from our state capitol.

they'll fly at half staff until she's buried. malaysia -- the search continues for wreckage, but so far only one confirmed piece of the plane has been recovered. two other possible pieces were found in the past week and undergoing testing. 239 people were onboard the missing flight when it vanished two years ago. degrees in westminster. we'll talk about severe weather coming

,, ,, new video in morning of a possible tornado damage in severe weather rolled that's just west of the fort worth. some homes are destroyed, debris is scattered across roads and the good news is there's no reports of serious injuries and that area today is another place, once again, we're looking at the chance for more severe weather. parts of texas, the bull eyes over the houston area and kansas looking at the possible of large hail, damaging winds and possibly getting tornados out of this system. a huge line of storms. they're tapping into moisture from the gulf, plus we have low pressure whipping into it.

welcome back. people living on the sidewalks of denver's ball park neighborhood need to find a new place to live this morning. city worker clearing out homeless camps today and our jaime leary is live at park avenue. jaime, a lot of people have woken up early for this. >>reporter: a lot of people have woken up, britt. the city is handing -- the city handed outed out noticed. the ishsues -- this is based on an ordinance that blocks public ways including sidewalks and city camps have grown so large, the public and safety and health are major concerns and protestors have gathered here on park and lawrence. some people protesting completely opposed and some here to support the

this is along i-225 near parking road. and you're starting to see more volume as you make your way down into the tech center. something we're going to watch. take a look at this drive southbound coming into town. average speed into the 30s. we're seeing it as you travel along i-227 -- >> joel, thank you for that. new details on the plane crash that kill ed 2 people near palmer lake last week. the coroner says daniel murray of longmont and jeff caplet of lafayette died. the crash fire caused a fire that burned some homes. a look for a hit-and-run driver that hurt someone at east colfax and madison street. the crash happened just before 7:30 last night. police haven't put out a description of the vehicle.

parks and open spaces could soon face some fines and some new rules. shawn chitnis is live going proposed regulations. good morning, shawn. >> good morning. this could effect pet owners. here's what we know about this. there's concerns about leaving pets in the cars that could turn into a new rule in boulder parks. if it's too hot or too cold, you get a ticket for leaving a pet in the car. commissioner lz consider their own ban. coming up at 6:45 what both regulations could mean for park rangers. shawn chitnis live. thank you shawn. two top administrators at a greeley high school on paid leave after getting escorted. they're principal shelly robins and assistant principal john.

spokesperson for the district says they're looking into allegations of irregularities and the handling of parent surveys. they're used to gage parent satisfaction and are used when evaluating principals. an effort to expand gun rights in our state is not moving forward. lawmaker rejected 5 bills yesterday. one would have removed all permits for concealed carried weapons and another repealed a 15-round magazine -- a 14-year-old girl who survived a shooting is in improving and will leave the jason dalton shot their girl during a 5-hour shooting spree last month. six people died by abigail cough survived. her heart stopped lot. her family kept her on life support so her organs could improve.

she'll head to a rehab facility today. the teen's family is overwhelmed by the community's support. >> right now i feel like i'm the luckiest mom in the world. >> i do too. >> because i lost my daughter and i got her back. >> abby's rehab is expected to take some six months. her family thinks she will be able to make it out even sooner. four snow mobilier's are back home safe. the men had not been seen since sunday morning after spending a time in a part of grand county known for deadly avalanches. search and rescue crews feared the worse. the group was prepared with a survival kit that allowed them to build a small fire and set up shelter. >> it got too thick in the trees and too dark, and -- we decided to stop. >> i was fine.

thursday, 60s and fairly warm for us. let's check with joel. >> i want to take you to copter 4 on chambers just north of 6th avenue. you can see traffic effected either way for a period of time. they had all the northbound lanes of chambers shut off at 6th. we understand from police, but they're not giving a lot of information, this is not a car accident. they're investigating. we did see somebody taken from that red, it looked like a ford ex floer-- a ford explorer. let me show you the rest of the drive and show you where this is on the map. southbound coming into down, speeds into the 20s and teens. 18 minutes from 120th to i-70.

along i-270 loaded up and we're seeing the slowing because of that. we have space in between the cars in the eastbound routes. there where chambers is near 6th. again, those lanes look like they have opened up. we're seeing traffic throw -- traffic is flowing there. a new lane okay instruction in the southbound direction of i-25 as you get passed the santa fe on the approach to hamden. we're watching the drive into the high country. it has been tough as you can see the road data picking up the slowing. eastbound from avail pass to the eisenhower, johnson tunnel, there's -- coming up next, a big story we have been watching. a train derails in california. everyone survived. crews battled swift waters to rescue those in the train cars. more on this

news here happening at 6th and chambers. we have copter 4 over the scene here. you see a lot of police activity happening here. our producer was listen to scanner traffic right now. we're hearing there was some sort of interaction here, perhaps a standing, police a shooting. nothing confirmed yesterday. we're working to gather details. we saw one person put into an ambulance and rushed away from the area. another person in the back of a police car. if we zoom out we could see that. a third person behind this red car in cuffs. no word on what type of involvement happened here. again, we're watching this scene, and joel, i like to talk to you now because this is affecting traffic in the area. >> for a period of time, chambers was blocked off in the northbound direction while they were getting the patient loaded up into the ambulance. they

there's two lanes open in either direction on the other side of chambers. another lane is blocked off as well. this is one of the people. he's got his hands cuffed behind him that they're walking over to this car. the investigation continues here and this is impacting traffic and we want to go back here to maps so you can see, if you're traveling along chamber in the northbound direction, you're going to see delays, but also in the southbound direction. it's easier to take airport boulevard and make your way over to i-225, but at chambers in the northbound direction, that's the tough part. >> thank you very much. let's see if we're going to check on the forecast with lauren now. perhaps, not. those living on the sidewalks must move on . jaime, we know there's plenty of protest early-- protest are up early with you.

out there? >>reporter: the city handed out the fliers on monday warning homeless they'll be doing this cleanup. do so. some have cleared out, but as you can see, some people are still at the camps they created. the city will remove what hasn't been removed like tarps and personal belongings. those will be stored for 30 days and then thrown away if not claimed. they say camps have grown so large they've become a public safety concern. but the homeless say the shelter is sometimes too crowded. >> there's 75 women all crowded into one room in the holy rosery overflow. >> i've been out here a year straight. i've been inside to get away from the elements where i wasn't prepared well enough,

>> i'll move, but if i get a ticket, i'll still and fight because it's inappropriate what they're doing. >> where are we going to go? >> some where else in colorado like a river or down the street. >> they can't kick homeless out of a camper. >> you can see a large group has gathered. some are a mixture of homeless, but a lot are protestors. some folks in support of the homeless. some people opposed to this move all together. many people are here with various organizations keeping an eye on the situation and doing what they can to help people here who will have to a man who lived heree - we haven't heard a set time, but the cleanup is happening today. we'll keep an eye on this situation. jaime leary.

report. now let's track the forecast with lauren. >> this is a look from look out mountain. fort collins is sunny with a few cloud and a gorgeous look from our foothill camera. beautiful this morning. we have a chance for snow in the high country to start the day or later on today. we'll talk more about that in a minute. 14 degrees for us in ponch ok springs. a great start to the day. we'll talk more about that in a moment, but first, britt back to you. >> thank you for that. new this morning, 9 people hurt after a commuter train derailed in central california. rescue crews say it's a miracle no one died. the rain reportedly hit a tree that had fallen on the tracks. this happened near san francisco. the train was submerged in a creek.

the train and crews say the rescue operation was definitely not easy. >> the front rail car was partially submerged so we had to get wet. the water is mercury and dark. it was scary for those onboard. >> buses picked up those not hurt. lakeland police want to learn what led to the death of a 3-month-old baby in lakewood. she died three days after officers found her in a town home. someone called them saying the child was having trouble breathing. officers found the girl unresponsive and said she had unexplained injured. police say the baby and her 20-year-old father were the only one inside the town hall before the call was made. officers have not made arrests. boulder county is considering a smoking ban and rules for its parks and open spaces and this could lead to fines.

ahead of a big meeting set to happen there. good morning, shawn. >>reporter: britt, good morning. the boulder parks could be the first to have policies for pets if they're approved, but the other policy they're looking at is something we see across colorado. those in boulder county will have to look at the issues. the first is about smoking in open spots around those parks. that includes marijuana. this is state policy. but a change in county rules will allow park rangers deal with anyone breaking that law on their own. they get complaints about pets left in cars when it's too hot outside and people worry about pets getting enough ventilation and water. this happens at spots near trails where pets aren't allow. this is a regulation few other communities in the country approved.

what it's like to be poor. >> what i meant by that, in african american communities, you have people living in desperation, often being abused by white police officers. but i know about white poverty. it exist in my state and all over this country. >> new york mayor michael bloomburg says he'll be seek the republican nomination. he fears it could lead to a 3-way race that will benefit trump. the police department wants to keep people from drink and driving so the department released this new video. can you tell what's happening here? a car is driving with a 15-foot tree lodged in the front grille. i don't know if the driver didn't notice, but the police pulled the driver over who was on the wrong side of the road. this happened back in january. officers say the person was driving under the influence. new this morning, it appears astronauts scott kelly is enjoying his time back on earth.
