colfax. i'm bm. thanks for being us with. the fire start ed in the second story units at the bar motel. the fire was reported around 9:30 this morning. two people sent to the hospital. firefighters don't know about their exact injuries, but they say the people were conscious. the owner of the motel said they were briefly trapped in the motel. the owners and the firefighters said the flames moved quickly. the owner tried to contain the file while calling 911 at the same time. >> nothing i could experience before because i've never been through this before. so it was frightening. and a lot going through my head, and the first thing that went through my head was try to put the fire out, and i tried, but it didn't work out.

stop, the crews were able to attached to the building. >> denver firefighters say it move so quickly. 9 units were damaged there. this is the day denver is prepared to move the belongings and shelter of people living on the streets in the area near lawrence and park avenue west. cbs 4 jaime leary is on the scene where she's been since 5:00 this morning. jaime, are you seeing the city act just yet? >>reporter: you know, things are pretty calm and quiet over here. just over my shoulder here, down park avenue. we did see a denver police officer swing by there and give a verbal warning to people over there to clear out or possibly face arrest. property. over here, things have cleared out at this point really, people are listening to the verbal warnings.

sign on the ground actually, earlier, city officials put that sign-in side an ordinance that bans blocking of public way including sidewalks. that heard none initiated this clear out. they took that ordinance out for a second time, but other than that, things have been calm. there were a few people we thought may be weren't so inclined to clear out at all, but it was just yesterday that the ball park neighborhood was given notice of this cleanup. folks were handed fliers and told they had 24 hours to clear the belongings out. it was just that that happened. the homeless was joined this morning by protestors from various organizations. some completely opposed to the cleanup and others making sure it's done in a humane way and ask questions of the city, like where are all these people going to go. we reached out to city officials and we asked them to tell us if there was a specific timeline, but they said so far there's no specific timeline, but we're going to continue to follow this

so far, no sign of city officials and just the one police presence giving that verbal warning, giving folks time to clear out their belongings. that's what they're doing, but the city has yet to show up to do the clean up. jaime leary. thank you, jaime. the problem with people leaving pets in cars in boulder is under discussion. they're going to fine those who leave -- cbs 4 lauren dipirito explains. >>reporter: it's one -- west of the lions at hall ranch. >> i like to see the wild life, and the openness of it all. >> to keep from interfering with wild life, hall ranch does not allow pets and that's prompting problems. >> when it's hot out, we get complaints from park visitors

>> these numbers fresh off the press britt. we're down to 94% average. this is down 5% since march. one week into the month. every river basin under 100%. what a stark contrast at the end of the january, we were over 100%. a big drop over just the past few weeks. doppler 4000, complete. there is a little moisture just off to our south in the southern rocky mountains and a weather -- it is going to come together and kickoff a handful of snow showers in the high country and our foothills this evening, and look at this. 9:00 tonight, a few of those showers may try to this could be like what we saw yesterday where some may get rain or a mix or snow and some places could get an inch or so. this is nothing significant. through.

degrees in denver. temperatures held back just a little bit, britt, because of the cloud cover. i'll talk about the brief shot of precipitation and a warmup. voters are heading to the polls in campaign 2016. there's primaries in the presidential nomination. the republicans have about 150 delegates on the table and they're going to voice opinions in ohio, hawaii, michigan and mississippi. the democratic voters have 171 who are casting ballot in mississippi and michigan. cbs kenneth craig has the latest on the campaign craig. >>reporter: voters are heading into the booth in michigan. it's the big prize for democrats and republicans. >> the numbers i just got from michigan are tremendous numbers. >> donald trump leads the polls in the great lake state.

people were crying for help and i went to find a conductor. he had flown out the window. >> right now, that stretch of track here is closed while it is being inspected. firefighters say the fact that only 9 people were injured in the accident is something of a minor miracle. happening now, i-70 is closed through glenwood canyon for rock fall mitigation work. they have been working on that since a rock slide three weeks ago. that caused damage to the highway. mostly recently a single lane has been open to each direction of traffic through the canyon. the rocks scaling should be done by 4:00 this afternoon. new details about what happened before a person ended up being stabbed in aurora this morning. police say the victim was involved in some sort of altercation in a home here off walsh drive. copter 4 was there and spotted a second scene at

too far away to have impacts on us, other than it's keeping the rockies unsettled with scattered snow showers passing through as we roll through the day. this is the ripple of snow that tries to develop in the foothills around sunset tonight. it does try rolling out across the city before midnight. let's get closer here and i'll show you that. one or two inches of snow could accumulate for some of you in the higher foothills and rain showers start to roll across denver. probably 8:00, 9:00, 10:00, the amount lz be light, but if you're going to be out and about, it could be enough to damn enp -- to dampen your plans. a fly in the ointment. a brief mix tonight. 50s tomorrow, britt. and tomorrow afternoon, same deal. could get a quick little stray shower. look at thursday, friday, saturday. the heat is back.
