has a big lead over bernie sanders in mississippi and michigan. she met with voters in detroit before leaving for ohio tonight. ohio, of course, voting next tuesday. the fact she's already there just indicative of how important that state is. jim and karen, 150 delegates up for grabs roughly for the republicans, and more than 160 for the democrats tonight. >> craig, thanks very much. a commuter train carrying more than 200 passengers derails innorthern california. >> nine people are hurt. officials say a mudslide caused by the area's recent storms is to blame. we're covering the nation on denver's only 6:30 newscast. all rail service was suspended so crews could remove the damaged train, clear that area up. train tracks. officials say it wasn't speeding before the accident. it was going 35 miles per hour in a 40 miles per hour zone. one of the train's cars did slide right through the mud in a swollen creek before resting on its side.

screaming, you've got people that are panicking. you know, they don't know if the rest of this train is going to tip over. >> the commuter train company hopes to continue services within the next few days. a fire broke out in chicago. at least 160 firefighters were sent to the scene. big chunks of the top of the building collapsed. black billowing smoke could be seen for miles around. no injuries. witnesses believe the fire started in an auto repair shop inside the building. check this out. a small plane falling from the sky. this is in long island, new york. the emergency parachute attached to the aircraft helped guide it to this landing. police say a man was piloting with his daughter when the plane lost engine power 2,000 feet in the sky. both of them able to walk away without a scratch. an officer in illinois stops a woman driving with a 15- foot tree that was stuck in her car. the officer recorded the car

stopped her. in addition to the presence of the tree, the car's air bags had deployed. the officer arrested the 54- year-old woman for drunk driving. she reportedly told the officer she drove more than three and a tree. >> that did look suspicious. new tonight, laying your head back and having your hair washed at a salon is supposed to be a relaxing, pampering experience. it might also be dangerous. andrea fuji talked with a woman what says she has the disturbing proof of that. >> reporter: before nearly every blow dry or cut, hair is washed in basins like these. but 48-year-old elizabeth smith says getting her hair washed at a san diego salon nearly killed her. she spoke to us through skype. >> i was just shocked. how could that happen to me? >> reporter: almost two weeks after her visit to the salon doctors told her she suffered a stroke. there's pictures of her months after, not able to smile. smith says doctors determined it was the position of her head p in the wash basin that

leading to a stroke. >> well, initially i couldn't walk at all. it hit both sides of my body, but more my left. so i couldn't move my left arm at all. >> reporter: turns out this condition has a name. beauty parlor stroke syndrome. neurologist dr. clifford segal says it's rare but can happen when necks are hyper extended. >> you could possibly tear or irritate the posterior circulation. >> reporter: doctors recommend using towels to prop your head up so it's tilted no more than 20 degrees. they also say you can face the basin, flip your hair over, and wash it that way. smith is a single mom. two years later she still has dizziness and vision loss. ago. but worst of all doctors say if she suffers a second stroke, she could die.

irish dancing but none more spectacular than river dance. >> kathy walsh got a chance to meet the cast and get a few pointers. >> reporter: it has been described as irish step dancing on steroids. but the international phenomenon river dance tells the story of irish culture and tradition through music, son, and especially dance. >> river dance, i guess, put ireland on the map solidly about 20 years ago, and it's great to be carrying that around the world. >> reporter: james is one of the principal dancers in river dance, the 20th anniversary world tour. james started dancing at 10. into it. >> reporter: but keira has stayed with it for 24 years. >> it's a magical show. mesmerized. >> the pbs special came on of river dance, and i looked at my parents and said, that's what i want to do.

man went on a stabbing spree across israel today killing a u.s. tourist. >> they say that attacker was shot and killed. police say the victim was this young man, taylor force, a graduate student at vanderbilt university. taylor was on a school trip with other students and teachers. they were not hurt. the attacks happened a mile from where u.s. vice president joe biden was meeting with a former israeli president. three other palestinian attackers were is shot and killed in that country today. it has been two years since malaysia airlines flight 370 went missing. the plane went off course before disappearing. the only debris was found washed ashore. today is the deadline for victims' families to file for compensation or sue. hollywood and beijing are teaming up trying to create

in fact, take a look at this moisture here, all being pushed up into the southern sections of the u.s. very heavy rains here. they've had tornadoes, severe thunderstorm watches, and they could get rain piling up in inches, a half foot of rain could fall. and as a result, they have all these warnings out for floods. we have a severe thunderstorm watch out. it a severe thunderstorm warning right there. coastal warnings for small craft and for gale-force winds. so they're really having their problems back there. here it is, our little snow line across the street. every now and then you see a couple of sprinkles. that's all we're seeing. here's where it sits. a little rain, a little rain mixed with snow, or snow, and it doesn't last very long. it just moves on out. and by the rush hour we are sunny. take a closer look. here it is around denver, maybe some sprinkles, maybe a little rain mixed with snow. further west they could get an inch or two of snow but it doesn't last very long.

,, ,, police and city crews clean up homeless camps in downtown denver. tonight's reporter brief. >> reporter: rick sallinger at despite this particular corner looks a far cry different than it did just a few hours ago. denver police, the sheriff's department, and public works crews moved in and removed a make shift homeless shelter. the residents had been given 24 hours to move out. but many stayed until the bitter end. their belongings bagged, to be

there were no arrests, but confrontations between homeless advocates and residents of the area glad to see the city take this action. >> reporter: i'm lauren dispirito in denver where two people were hurt in a fire this morning at a fire on west colfax avenue. the fire broke out sometime before 9:30. it took fire crews about an hour to put it out. they rescued two people from a second-story unit. they say those two people, a man and woman, were taken to the hospital in critical condition. they suffered smoke inhalation and burn injuries, and we know investigators today found numerous fire code violations on the property. and great to see astronaut scott kelly enjoying his time back on earth. he shared a picture of a great steak dinner on twitter. apparently likes it well done. but he says, it was my first steak at a restaurant on earth after 1,000 meals in a bag. oh, i bet that tasted delicious.
