the train to dia hits another snag. the train lost power between dia and pe?a boulevard. karen morfitt is at 61st and pe?a. and rtd says the problem has been fixed. of these trains are moving again. but it's still gonna take some time before things are running on school schedule. loading up passengers and getting ready to send them out the rest of the way to dia. an rtd spokesperson said an a-line train got stuck again at the same curve where we saw another

a cable was again somehow damaged causing the track to lose power. this time it was a quick and easy evacuation for those on board. passengers say they were waiting for two hours to be rescued. everyone is now off of the train safe. >> a bit of a half having to get all of our stuff. >> we did not expect it. but i did get a call from a relative and he let me kind of prepared. >> reporter: we did speak to some of the passengers who were on the stuck train. what they had to say to r, d and their advice -- rtd and their advice. a group of neighbors in highlands ranch filed an injunction trying to stop expansion of c-470. and that's

groundbreaking of the big project this morning. cdot is adding express lanes to ease the congestion on a busy stretch of the highway. >> some of the neighbors don't want that construction to move forward. the express lanes will go in on c470 from i-25 to wadsworth. what are neighbors so concerned about? >> reporter: the big concern is noise. the more tha cars pass along this stretch every day. and numbers are expected to increase by 40% in 20 years. some homeowners say expansion without noise barriers is a deal-breaker. >> in about 25.5 mile, we're going to improve the commute times for a lot of folks who rely on this road >> reporter: todd ables lives 200 yards from c470. he supports the neighborhood coalition and filed an injunction saturday to block the construction. the major complaint, noise. >> you can seriously hear the noise, traffic. when she's ten feet away from me, you can't hear. >> reporter: the expansion plan had noise barriers along the highway. cdot dropped the barriers after s said they would not reduce noise for neighbors. coalition tests dispute that claimant. >> it's the noise pollution, and when they double the size of this road, you're gonna see a lot more traffic. >> reporter: the cdot director says the road expansion is necessary to expand dug douglas county's population explosion. >> if there's something that we

it. >> at this point i think it's just step up and do the right thing. >> reporter: after cdot answers the complaint, a judge is expected to make a ruling in the next few weeks. the expansion project is slated to be completed spring of 2019. arapahoe county deputies have made an arrest in a deadly stabbing in strasburg. that happened on rairmd street near 15th -- railroad street near 15th and strasburg. there was a fight between three men who know each other. one was killed. jeremiah pepper has been arrested on suspicion of first degree murder. storms could develop in colorado tonight. we're just seeing some really dark skies out there.

larimer county. anything happening up north? >> reporter: we've got a little thunderstorm out to the north of us. a couple of thunderstorms producing gusty winds. from our vantage point, some rain in the distance, and also a little lightning. very gray skies with some moisture moving through. especially at elevation, and it showers drift down a little later. doppler 4,000, much like yesterday afternoon. the southwesterly flow, kicking up some of that convection, a couple thunderstorms in the high country. and a closer look across the front range and into the residential area. some of that moisture could be creeping

i-70 is back open after an hours-long closure earlier today. it created quite the traffic jam. cdot was doing mitigation work along this area. you can see all the cars. the highway was supposed to be closed until 3:30 this afternoon but it reopened earlier than expected. dieters took drivers -- detours took drivers out of the way or over 8 they were teeld tolled to return around -- told to turn around. >> stuck? >> for an hour, going a mile. exciting. >> and the closure plan forward tomorrow will not happen after all because all the work is finished. >> good news there. new information on two recent bank robberies in the metro area. the same man hit both banks. the suspect is

week. also the u.s. bank on south peoria in aurora yesterday afternoon. metal detectors at airports are meant to find guns of one made out of the plastic has turn up at an airport -- an airport checkpoint in reno. it was made from a 3d printer. rick salinger has been reporting on the threats from these types of guns. he joins us on the latest case from >> reporter: a very windy dia! it was 5:30 in the morning at the reno airport when a man approached a checkpoint carrying a handbag. they put it through the x-ray machine, and what they say they saw caused them great concern. >> reporter: it looks like a real gun but it's made out of plastic. it even had bullets alongside it.

this was one of 68 cases around the country last week in which a firearm was discovered in a bag going through a checkpoint. 21 of those had a round in the chamber chamber. in this case t.s.a. agents determined that the man did not have any ill intent. so they didn't charge him and gave him a choice to check the gun or just leave it there. for reasons we don't understand, he just left it plane. douglas county passes new marijuana grow regulations. the ordinance is in response to complaints from citizens who have discovered large grows in their neighborhoods in. january marijuana plants were discovered inside this larkspur home following a fire. the quintanilla's new ordinance caps the number of plants per home to
