good morning, everybody. great to have you with us. i'm alan gionet. >> and i'm britt moreno. thanks for joining us this morning. we had a great weekend. let's get to dave and figure out forecast. good morning, a hot monday around here and by the end of the week, big changes coming into play for denver. here's a look at current temperatures this morning. a lot of areas are warm. 70 in green wood village one of our early weather watchers, arvada at 63 degrees this morning.

eastern plains but we're going to start the day sunny and it will be nice. 76 by 9:00 a.m. unshine by noon at 86. 91 is the high today and a 10% chance of isolated thunderstorms after 3:00 today. i think it will be nice today. let's see how the traffic situation is looking. both fingers crossed morning. there are lane restrictions there but no full closures at i-25 and arapahoe. some road work going on u 36 but nothing enough to slow anything down. c-470 some slowing in the southbound direction as they continue to do paving work and anover night accident closed down a portion of highway six out of central city this

thank you very much. four robbers on the run after targeting a marijuana dispensary. the thieves were armed when they held up a pot show on yale. police aren't saying much about how much marijuana was stolen. 0. >> reporter: marijuana promoted as the cure were whatever ails you had no cure. >> no an arapahoe sergeant told me three people entered thereto back door. >> three black males had on a mask and the female did not have a mask. >> reporter: a passenger in a getaway car yelled at the female to hurry up and get in the car. >> they are associated with a white four-door sedan that fled the scene. >> reporter: the ar gent says

store, one employee and customer. the robbery itself came as no surprise to a neighbor. >> they have to deal in cash because of the laws that exist. the perpetrators or whatever you want to call them know that so it's basically easily pickens for them. >> but does having a dwun change that? >> we're so used to having armed bandits and robberies, etc. we have become numb to it. until there's your face. then it's a different story. >> there were no injuries but people's nerves were definitely rattled by the robbery. an update on the fire burning on the western slope. crews are using airplanes to keep the spring creek fire from burning. officials say the fire is 20% contained but so far only

the beaver creek fire remains active. it's burned for 57 days and the fire is 41% contained. there are concerned about drier and warmer conditions over the next few days. a roof has collapsed and sent two people to the hospital yesterday. it happened on columbine trail off of highway 86. a man a tearing down the outbuilding when the roof came crashing down. the man was air lifted to the hospital and is in critical condition this morning. the was also taken to the hospital but no word on her condition. a fire in steamboat springs yesterday burned a home. the home is a loss and no word yet on what started the fire. another person shot during a

no major rye yours trulying like we saw over the weekend. the milwaukee police chief said the suspect had a gun in his hand and turned towards officers and that's why the police shot him. this crowd was throwing objects at officers. the person who was hurt was taken to a local hospital. new lanes open to bikers, south broadway is getting a new lane this morning. it's going to be dedicated to bikers. one lane of the stretch is going to be real handy. shawn chitnis live in south broadway this morning to tell us about it. opening new options as denver tries to become more bike sen trick. also the goal of course to make sure everyone is safe while traveling around south broadway off of cedar.

two way bike lane so bikes can go in both directions and just behind me are the parking spots and that's going to create that buffer or level of protection as boikers as they work away from moving traffic on busy streets like broadway. it's certainly something the city wants to test out as they move forward with the new project. it's the start of a different situation here and a chance to see how traveling along this everyone here making the corridor safer. it will run to virginia and it is considered two way lanes as we mentioned so bikes can go in both directions keeping them away from traffic and providing the parking lane. today's opening is the start of

volkswagon in germany approved a tech update for 460,000 smaller cars. volkswagon sold 11 million cars with the emissions cheating software. president obama's play list surged to the top on spot few. it includes "sinner man" and "good vibrations" the president's welcome the company once his presidential term is over. >> he has a wide variety of music on that list. water is high and there are thousands of people waking up in shelters after being rescued from homes and cars and trapped in rising water.

doctors reporting overseas that cancer now ranks above heart disease for leading cause of death. new concerns over the west nile vie in our state. a record number of mosquitos are testing positive for the virus in boulder, weld and larimer county. colorado has seen 13 human cases so far. melissa garcia explains the greater risk this summer. fort collins residents took cover inside their homes as trucks sprayed pesticides to kill mosquitos on contact. mary's neighborhood was one of three counties in the major risk category. up to 90% of the species trapped

and transmit the virus. >> west nile virus is a concern so if there's a chance of mosquitos being out we normally stay inside. >> reporter: zika may be the topic of concern but state health experts say west nile is the real risk in colorado. >> it can be deadly to people. it's here. we know it's here in our bird population and unfortunately every summer we see cases. mosquito control has sprayed the fort collins in the last decade. they may need to deploy again in the next couple of months before the first freeze of the season. >> i'm surprised fort collins has a higher standard for spraying than the county. i wish they could spray more often. >> reporter: melissa garcia, cbs4 news. for ways to protect yourself and property from mosquitos

head to our website, cbsdenver.com. a warm one today. if you look at the temperatures that shows it. it's 76 at dia. 48 in aspen and 64 in grand junction this morning. satellite and radar together, not much moisture out there. clear skies from denver to the high country and that will change this afternoon. there's enough moisture that we might get thunderstorms going. there's a high pressure area over arizona and you can see nevada and utah and that's where our storms are coming from. all the storms we talked about earlier that pounded louisiana now have just jumped into the pipeline of the monsoonal flow and st. louis has the target today. huge flooding problems there going on today. texas, there's a lot of heavy

here's our futurecast. isolated thunderstorms developing after 3:00. thunderstorms firing still the same. isolated in nature so not everybody will see rain out of this. 90s across the eastern plains with 70s and 80s in the mountains so warmer for communities up there in the high try. 91 for the high today with isolated thunderstorms this afternoon. 88 on tuesday with isolated storms and we wednesday, thursday. friday is a major change coming and could dip to 76 for the high with a little taste of fall there and a better chance at seeing scattered afternoon thunderstorms by then as well. joel, looks like a typical summertime week there. >> yeah, not bad. back to school for some of those kids, the temperature is just

direction from southbound i-25. as you look across the map here the earlier trouble spot we had along highway six is up to highway 119 finally being cleared out of the way as the investigation has wrapped up. the one trouble spot we this morning is the closure of alameda east of i-225. they're doing repair work on some damage that they had from know it seems like a circular pattern -- they do construction work and damage the road and have to repair it. >> yes, joel. right. if you happen to be at a best buy yesterday you may have seen a familiar face, super bowl mvp and von miller put his skills to test. some didn't know von was in the
