a weather alert: quite the lightning show. a storm moved through the metro area. and the rockies had a long rain delay. >> a few scattered showers out

mostly on the south and west side of town. heavier rainfall to our north. a little thunderstorm in that area. for the most part, the rain in denver is starting to ease off. and our inches of rain in arvada. took a little longer than expected. it looked like it stalled over the denver area. we need this rain. so far we've only had 0.03 of rain so far.

average. a denver officer opens fire, sending the suspect to the hospital. and the suspect is now in custody. karen morfitt is live on the corner where cops spotted that stolen vehicle >> reporter: exactly. that vehicle still in the parking lot here just outside of this credit union. this is also wre run from police officers and shortly after, they heard several shots. withins say when police swarmed this parking lot, this gray volvo took off. rita salazar was in the park lot waiting with her grandchildren when the shots rang out. >> they were right on them.

denver police, two men and a woman were inside that vehicle they believe was involved in a carjacking in arapahoe county. >> at some point, the suspect brought out a handgun, and officers opened fire. >> reporter: one of the suspects wounded, the other 24 in custody. police did not say whhe shots, only that no officers were hurt in the shooting. a spokesperson for the police department says the officer involved in the shooting has been put on paid administrative leave which is standard. this man is accused of

disturb comments. >> reporter: engelwood police say the man was approaching students as they got home from school yesterday close to this park. this is the face of a man police believe is trying to lure kids into his van. it happened after school monday as elementary students were baker park in engelwood. the man approached them making disturbing and inappropriate comments according to police. students avoided the stranger person, telling their parents about what happened who later report today to police. the man is described as white, 20 to 30 years old with brown hair, driving a black and gray astromini-van. one man says he

tuesday afternoon. that neighbor says he saw the man in a gray-colored van writing something in a notebook. then as he was approached, sped away from the area. >> reporter: we did speak with other family, and is they're definitely keeping their eye out for anything suspicious. school district has been notified. anyone who may recognize that man is irjed to a denver mother pled guilty in the death of her young son. her 2-year-old son died last summer. he was brought to the hospital with injuries consistent of being beaten and burned. denver police really want to find this man they say broke into a garage and stole two bikes.

near sixth and ga -- galapego. a man and woman accused of stealing from a center in broomfield. they store wallets and is car keys. the pair was last seen in a silver chrysler sebring. parents are calling it a crisis. the price of the epipen has gone up 5% years. jeff todd has been looking into the tough decision parents have to make. >> reporter: experts say the actual medicine inside an epipen isn't that much. and you just insert it into your leg for 10 seconds. without insurance, these cost $600! even the

better than 80,000 people evacuated. another fire in northern california was intentionally set. today police announced an arrest. >> it is my pleasure to announce the arrest of damon anthony pashil, age 40 of clear lake. >> he is a career criminal. he actually trained as a firefighter during one of his stints in prison. investigators believe this fire is one of 17 the fire started fire, has burned more than 4,000 acres, nearly 200 homes and bes are destroyed. >> that's all we got this is shop. >> reporter: holseone of the lucky ones. the fire burn the several cars at his mechanic shop. >> i feel really lucky compared to most of the people. >> reporter: he's been standing guard and watching for looters. >> making sure nothing gets stolen.

will clear. by tomorrow morning, sunshine. a pleasant start to the day. a few clouds around town, a few clouds town to the south. the morning hour, pretty nice! get your walk done, temperatures overnight will be on the cool side. a couple of scattered showers tomorrow morning in the northwestern areas. heavier rainfall toward the southwest by lunchtime. then it does get more widespread mainly in the high country and off to our west tomorrow. here in denver, a few isolated storms possible on the eastern plains, times tomorrow evening. temperatures right now, it's nice outside, 70 degrees in denver right now. 70 in boulder. we still have that humidity, light rain in spots, 72 in burlington. and the high country, 64 in avon, 68 in steamboat. and grand junction at 79. earlier today, we were hot and sunny. 91 degrees at dia, denver downtown. close to our average. our record high is 100.
