we do not know yet what sparked the fire. here's a look at the effort to contain the fire, about 50% contained right now. we'll continue to follow it closely. break news in denver: an overturned semi has the northbound lane was colorado boulevard closed this rush hour. traffic having to divert onto 17th near city park. the cause of the crash still being investigated but there are no injuries. volunteers gathering to from lakewood. he mysteriously vanished last month. the 25-year-old was last seen in the green mountain area. jeff todd is live this evening at the green mountain church. and it sounds like those searchers are about to head out. >> reporter: searchers and even volunteers are gonna start getting ready at 5:15 and will be concentrating on this green mountain area. this all started in late july, and there were a

without any clues, it was called off. today will be the first search since then. this case goes back to july 22nd 22nd. a conversation got heated as they were talking about recent police shootings. he said he needed to cool down and walked out of the apartment. he didn't even have any shoes on and left his car behind. he was an emt for the south park ambulance. many other first responders have helped search fom. his disappearance is very unusual. in the days after he went missing, people were making play mrooes for his safe return -- pleas for his safe return. they were told to be prepare forward any kind of hazardous areas. that gives us an indication they're not gonna be search the popular trails here. they're gonna be searching other

new information involving a police officer and suspend carjackers yesterday afternoon near 12th and federal. the suspect who was wounded is a juvenile. investigators he and two other juveniles were in a stolen car when they were approached by officers. the driver was arm and was shot in the leg after a short chase. and they arrested the other suspects. looks like more security changes in the 16th street mall in downtown denver. this follows recent violent attacks caught on camera. the downtown partnership is fighting back. >> reporter: these private security guards are already out patrolling. now they don't have handguns, but they do have handcuffs. it's images like these coming out of the downtown that have horrified and frightened people down here.

>> reporter: business owners along the mall held their own worries. >> a man came into the store and demanded all the money. there was no security around or anything. i ran out the store, asking for help, no one was to be found. it was really scary were >> reporter: that's not the image downtown promoters want the city to have. so they're working to include safety, and trying to change the sentiment on the 16th street mall. >> the addition of the security reflection of offsetting a need for police officers in the mall. >> reporter: downtown officials say they'll likely start with two private security officers' first shift, with shifts running 24 hours a day, seven days a week. >> i come downtown for work every day. and i generally feel very safe. >> reporter: nearly 200 new lights will be added to the mall, and they will work to make the alleys safer.

lauren whitney joins us with colorado's weather. >> we're hoping for showers toward denver but they're mainly off to our west and south. a lot of activity south of through the telluride area, aspen, vail, and colorado springs, a thunderstorm heading that direction. and a little pi peaks just a little more snow today. some of our weather watchers, a little rain today as well. in alamosa, a nice afternoon shower. it's a good night to be outdoor. it does feel pretty nice. we could have a few of these head over into
