rain, cooler temperatures coming to the metro area. the first round moving across the front range this afternoon it. has already produced snow in high elevations. images from pike's peak. you can see the snowflakes flying. dave aguilera is tracking the moisture in colorado's weather center. we begin with jeff todd at berthoud pass. the temperature dropping there fast. >> reporter: it is quite chilly for it to still be august 18th. under 30 degrees, 39.8, and the humidity, 94%. we have had some rain for more than the past hour. and quite a bit of fog. it's still too warm to have any snow accumulation but we did find some today. look at some of the video we were able to shoot from up here on berthoud pass. this is looking toward the james peak area. we talked to a lady

really big thunderstorm come through in the early afternoon. she thought that was hail. we checked with chris spears. he said he doesn't think so. he thinks that is snow. that is also something we obviously just saw on pike's peak. we also woke up to a picture from the folks in leadville, snow up on mt. elder. at 11,000 feet, this cold front starts in settle in. we could see some snowt elevation. loveland pass, berthoud pass, even vail pass. quite a bit of weather in the high country. still some storms along the front range. >> that moisture is moving in our direction. we had cool air

at the same time, we had a little bit of moisture overrunning that. that's where the thunderstorms coming from tonight. thunderstorms rolling through boulder county, the next batch of moisture coming through. just moving through allen's park there. and if you look closely, you notice a few of those pink blobs that are showing up that is correct is rain mixed with snow. a little snow at higher elevations. already few flakes in a lot of locations. i don't think we'll have much accumulation. the future cast for denver, overnight, a little shower coming through. after midnight, it starts to move out. we may have a little bit of fog and low cloudiness for the morning commute temperature. and it is going to be a much cooler day tomorrow as well.

a man will spend 20 years in prison for the death of his girlfriend's toddler. jones was sentenced this afternoon. karen morfitt is live in arapahoe county. he has never offered an explanation for this crime. >> reporter: exactly and the judge addressed that earlier today in court before agreeing to that 20-year stipulated sentence. he said he hopeha to help the family heal by providing them intrs exactly what happened. on the second anniversary of the death, her killer is sentenced, 20 years behind bars. >> this is not a sentence that i was looking for. >> reporter: deputy district attorney prosecuted the case. against jones. >> reporter: jones was shot and

shooting years ago involving terrence robert. investig say the 2-year-old girl died of internal bleeding while in jones' care he want pled guilty to child abuse resulting in death. >> we do know that the child was violently beaten. it caused her to lose about a third of a liter of blood. and she eventually went into basically a septic shock and died. >> reporter: of the he will not bring that child back, it the bring her some justice. the judge says jones owes the family an explanation. >> i don't understand why it happened or how howe it happened. we still really know how it happened. and i think that's their biggest question right now. >> reporter: a jury did find terrence roberts not guilty of attempted murder in that skwloenz case. as far as jones goes, he was facing a murder charge originally and up to life

have a little problem with hoe cloudiness in the morning. and in the afternoon, another surge of moisture comes through. some is of these storms could be rather large. they continue through midnight tomorrow night. it could be a soggy end to the week. and some of those storms have a marginal chance of being severe tomorrow. a lot of 40s and 50s showing up. a lot of 70s showing up here in northeastern colorado. mountains, 89 in grand junction. still a chan for some showers and thermz in the next couple of hours. 50s for the overnight low. 73 for the official high. and a better chance of showers and thunderstorms late in the day. 75 on saturday. quite a few clouds. isolated storms, and 80s return sunday, monday, tuesday, drier, slight chance of late-day thunderstorms each day, and that
