good morning, everyone. thanks for joining us. we're following breaking news out of new jersey where two buses have collided here. five people are injured. we're watching what's happening here, and we'll update you on that. >> we'reng that. take a close look at this. snow in the mountains, and it's still summer. it's colorado folks. the changes we can see in the weather as we head into the weekend. >> u.s. swimming officials are blaming lochte for a lack of judgment. when officials say the story of a robbery was made up. and rocky ford rumble in full swing. we'll tell you why

and why they may be in stores longer than usual. that's coming up on cbs4 morning news. the rumble makes me think people are going to be diving for the cantaloupes. we're talking about the weather related to that. we want to look at the forecast. >> chris spears is tracking the friday's forecast for us. good morning. >> good morning. the cool down made it in here and i think a lot of us welcomed it, but got rain showers. could we get more. we'll give you details in a bit. >> chris, we're watching cones. that's the only thing slowing you down. northbound along i-25 as you get from the tech center into the bridges and you got to be pushed off into that left lane pretty common by now. they're used to it. but it means a shorter ramp along 225 northbound onto i-25 as well. and much slower speeds. alan and britt. >> joel.

this is broad street. if you know new york, new jersey right in the middle of downtown. and a very serious bus crash this morning. >> you know, we've been watching this picture for about half an hour now, and we've seen a handful of people being put on stretchers and carried away, so we do assume people were onboard and there are injured people. our cbs affiliate in new york are reporting 5 people could be injured. we don't know how badly. this intersection jersey and the rest of the transit situation is on a delay. james fagan says his client is going to pay -- it comes after u.s. swimmer lochte claims that robbers pointed a gun at his head and took money.

-- >>reporter: they're apologizing. the move necessary according to sports analyst kristin brennan. >> the nation is looking at this and saying you're representing us and in a country, brazil where the crime issue was important, to tell any tall tail, a lie, whatever it might be that ryan lochte and the others told >> according to civil police, gunner and bence, interviewed says they denied being a victim of a robbery and says lochte's story was not true. britain authorities have not asked for assistance. officials in brazil says they're working with the u.s. to interview lochte again. likely no criminal charges will be filed, this incident could cause problems for the athletes.

2 years. lauren dispirito has more. >>reporter: cbs4 learned denver's plan to settle a whistleblower plan with city attorney steward sha peer row agreeing to may more than $600,000 to settle his claims of retail asian by the office he worked for. it was after handling the case of a jail inmate who sued the city for injuries and got more than $3 million. that chipero w the city says their handling the case was questionable. for 2 years, chipero we mained on paid leave. -- and remained on paid leave. scott martinez was questioned. >> where does the buck stop.

you'll give me a you tube moment here. when the sun comes up, we have clouds hanging out and we may get a peek of sun here. i'll show you in a second. let's check the temperatures. comfortable around colorado this morning. that cold front came through yesterday. 50s along the area. 60s in the southeast. 30s and 40s in the higher elevations. 40s and 50s on western slope. you did not feel this cold front. this is an eastern colorado weather system w tracking. 58 in the grangers in -- he's looking for rain. we have moderate drought from the northern suburbs of denver. this is not a drought buster, but there's rain in the forecast. we have clouds around and a few sprinkles. as we go through the morning, you may get peeks of sunshine before the wave comes through early afternoon. one more surge of cooler air come from the north. it's going to kick up showers and storms as it rolls through. we could see locally heavy rain and potentially thunderstorms

into the evening tonight. and there's a slim chance that one or two of these storms could be strong to severe. they clear out by tomorrow morning. the i - the i-25 corridor, we could see -- western colorado, west of the divide, same forecast you've been having. you do not feel this front. 60s and 70s up high. near 90s on the western slope. bad news for at the cubs, rock ease game. there's a good chance we'll have storms. it will be chilly in the 60s. we'll be unsettled today, but joel it's a quick turnaround tomorrow. we'll get afternoon sun and the temperatures respond back into the 80s as we roll into the week ahead. a nice drive. this is our cbs4 mouse tram cam. no beings
