right now we are cold in some mountain's communities. leadville sat the freezing point. 32 degrees up there right now. here is the satellite and radar together. we're partly cloudy down south, and high pressure is now moving in from utah and nevada. this is going to bring in some heat today, but it will help to keep me are trying to trickle up from new mexico down in southern colorado today. so that will be a helper to get us back to summer time weather around here. as we look at the futurecast, the thunderstorms do bubble up, but they don't make spite the northern part of the state. if there are any close to denver, it will be park county, maybe southern jeffco and douglas county. but otherwise, most of us stay high and dry today. and temperatures will be higher today, as well.

pressure, we have a little ridge of it, coming across nevada into utah today that iskeeping a lot of this moisture. this high should be enough to kind of suppress some of that moisture. so the thunderstorms that do develop today should be over southern colorado. there might be one or two that just briefly pop up in park county, jeffer son county, and douglas county here, so we'll watch for that. otherwise, it's going ward, eastward, and out west, as well as most of the moisture staying down there in the san juan areas. highs today will be looking like this. 90s and 80s on the western slope. we should be in the 80s and low 90s across the eastern plains today. sterling, ray, and maybe lamar might make it to 81 degrees this afternoon.

a word war ii veteran in new york has waited 70 years to receive his combat medals. john peletti served three medals serving in the navy, but never picked them on friday, he finally got the medals he deserved. and i'm very proud. >> reporter: this is the moment john never expected. seven decades after serve fiscal the navy, at 91 years old, he's getting his three combat medals. >> wanted to say thank you for serving, and you have blessed us all. >> this means a lot to me. >> reporter: he was drafted in 1942. he was sent overseas to help recapture guam from the japanese. three years later, he came home to his sweetheart, and today
