6:30 pm
hello everyone welcome into xfinity monday live it is cooling off outside but one guy
6:31 pm
couple of weeks broncos tight end virgil green how are you doing. >> i'm great. >> you're having a heck a couple of weeks. >> i'm doing some good things. >> that's a nice way to put it let's run highlights. what's been working well it seems like they are the guy they go to when the quarterbacks need a first down. >> i'm just out there working hard trying to have fun see the defense see what's going on and take advantage of that. >> what has been the biggest difference for you maybe from this year and what did yo on in the off season that's allowed you to come out and be a star? >> i think a year in the system and watching film understanding some different ways on thousand get up and different things i can do in different situations and based on coverage knowing how to attack those different things. so, just a year in the system getting acclimated. >> you had that one preseason training camp practice you had like four touchdown grabs then you come out you got 7
6:32 pm
what has it been like to all a sudden everybody is talking about virgil green? >> i don't pay too much mind to it. you know, the main thing i know i focus on is do my job. you can't sit on the high horse for too long. you got to keep doing those things over and over again. >> let's take a look your numbers. 7 reacceptings that is most among tight ends in the nfl. 83 yards long reception of 18 yards and 6 of your 7 re singles have been for first downs. don't underestimate the impact mr. greene can have on this offense his head coach isn't under sitting it either. >> virgil has done a really good job. he's taken advantage of an opportunity. virgil i can't speak for when i wasn't here but he's always been a 2 type of guy. virgil just keeps plugging and making plays. very excited about him taking
6:33 pm
and players have been really high on your play. let's go back to last year though because that was really kind of a break-out year for you. a career year in receptions and in yards. what was that like for you to kind of burst on the scene and really start making an impact on this offense? >> it was great. especially having a guy like owen there. you know he's a great tight end a great guy to learn from. so, having him to piggy back on whenever i ed answered was tremendous, but to go out there and enjoy myself like i did last year get a touchdown early in the season i had high hopes of doing some more things throughout the season, but i took advantage of the passes coming my way and my main goal is to never get tackled by one guy. >> all right. that's a good-when did you come one that? >> ever since i was in high school. one guy can never tackle you. that's got to be the motto.
6:34 pm
play with a future hall of famer peyton manning what were that like to catching footballs. >> it was great he's such a smart guy. we learn so much from him on and off the field what it's like to be a true professional how to watch film, how to take advantage of defenses and also how to have fun. you know peyton he does like to have fun. he likes to enjoy himself but he also knows when it's time to get to work and handle business. >> goinfr the start this week. the quarterback competition mark sanchez and trevor simeon how are those two guys different? >> you think mark is just a more veteran guy he's been around a little bitty understands how to carry himself he understands all the other you know watching peyton he was always in the training room always doing things and that's the same kind of thing mark does. he's always in the training
6:35 pm
body's right and in that sense. trevor he's a young guy he's a smart guy he does play with a lot of poise a lot of confidence and he likes to have fun too. so there's a lot of similarities , but there are some few differences. >> you obviously had the chance to work out with mark sanchez i thought you guys had a good connection early but it seems like you have a good connection with both guys and of course the other guys is paxton lynch and he has really come on lately. what have you seen from paxton lynn inch the first couple preseason games and throughout training camp. >> he's a the other night i couldn't believe he got out of some of those things. he's a big guy. has a strong arm. he works hard to try to understand everything that's going on. and you know he's just a great competitor and we love to have guys like that around. >> he's taking after your motto. >> yeah. >> no one guy is going to bring paxton lynch down. >> he's 240. he can't come down with one

6:42 pm
bobbled it a little bit too. >> what i remember is losing the ball in the light i was like no we need this i got. let's go. get those feet in. >> this was important because that tied the game before halftime and gave you twice the win. >> it did. great play by peyton lobbing that ball up there me somehow find a way to get inbound hold on to the ball and go on to win the became. >> does your heart drop a little bit when you bobble it? >> a >> just a little bit. we've got much more coming up with injuryville green we got you back into the jim benemann. >> you would think with all the new technology in cars they wouldn't breakdown as much.
