news: a magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck central italy. the epicenter is a hilltop town 15 miles northeast of rome. the mayor says half of the town is gone. people were trapped you should the rubble. government officials comparing it to one in 2009 which claimed 300 lives. a fake doctor in accused of performing major operations without a license. karen morfitt talked to one of the patients. she told me she felt everything during her 4-hour procedure. >> reporter: she came here to the hernandez fernandez care clin toik get a mini-tummy -- clinic to get a mini-tummy tuck. she said from the first cut, things were not right. maria continues to work toward recovery after a botched

her side helping to tell her story. >> he felt her cutting into her skin, they did a form of liposuction, she felt every minute of temperature >> reporter: operating on her, this man, carlos hernandez who according to investigators is no doctor. she found him online where he had a 5-star rating. she scheduled an appointment and paid thousands of dollars upfront. >> a lot of himself out as a legitimate doctor, a licensed doctor in the state of colorado. >> reporter: the surgery was wrong from the beginning, and she could feel every single minute. >> he did not use an sthetdic. he did -- an synthetic. he did give her some medication >> reporter: she reported her concerns to law enforcement, and at least three other victims have been identified. their goal

again and to warn others from doing similar procedures. >> you should not go forward with a procedure like this until you have fully investigated the plastic surgeon. >> reporter: hernandez also performed facelifts, liposuction, and other procedures here. he is facing 14 felony charges. but it is victims out there. karen morfitt, cbs4 news. following a developing story east of denver. a sheriff is under arrest accused of sexual assault. he was arrested in logan county after a joint investigation with the colorado bureau of investigation.

and two men dead, one of them corporal nate kerrigan. documents from june were missing statements from witnesses. new report does have information from the other deputies who watched the shootout. jeff todd has been pour over thousand was documents for us tonight. and you spoke with the sheriff who says he is proud of his deputies. >> reporter: and you just mentioned those witness statements, some of them coming from deputies who went on this mi a made death threats against police. the sheriff said he knew it was a dangerous situation but never knew directly about the threats. >> it reafirms the fact that my depose did nothing wrong. >> reporter: it was february when the shooting played out at this home. martin wurthd expressed to several people he wanted to kill cops.

corporal kerrigan was killed. >> would i change how we do evictions? no. i've done evictions since. what gets lost in this entire thing is martin had a choice. leave! all he had to do was leave the residence >> reporter: kerrigan's family and other have questioned whether a different approach would have kept him alive. >> i've known nate since he was in high school >> reporter: sheriff wenger who has a constant reminder arm of the day says his deputies did what they were supposed to do. >> i'm sorry but we enforced a court order. it's no surprise. he had the notice. he knew about it. why didn't he go to court and fight it? why did he take the law into his own hands and shoot at my deputies? >> nate was murdered. and it was very hard on the agency. nate died a hero's death.

a nurse accused of sexually assaulting patients facing charges in yet another attack. she accused of molesting ten women in nebraska, fort collins, greeley and thornton. lauren dispirito has the latest. >> reporter: according to police, stems from an incident that happened here, about one month before the hpi in another city. >> reporter: police say last november, he fondled a patient. when a woman complain have had a migraine, he gave her morphine. she told police she woke up to him groping her chest.

women at several hospitals say moore took advantage of them while they were in and out of consciousness, alone in emergency rooms. some of the hospital systems say they performed background checks but did not know about aczags against him. the colorado board that investigates complaints against nurses is closed, meaning information it refers is not public -- receives i made public while it's being looked into. moore began working for them in july of 2015 and was "suspended on december 21st" when the fort collins police department notified them of pending charges.
