>> ed greene is in the weather center. a nice break from the heat! >> we finally got the rain in the city. temperatures fell, and it was a nice day, a harbinger of what's to come. we can show you exactly what we've got going on. and we do have most of the showers earlier today dying down, even seeing a little spot of sunshine in the city. here comes another line of showers and storms. we might not be quite done with all around the state, we're seeing all that rain beginning to dry out just a little bit. more moisture to the west of us. this is gonna continue for the next couple of days. what we're seeing here, from the hour by hour forecast, dries out by tomorrow morning. we see some sunshine around here but the shower will be back! and maybe you saw the rain but here's what you're really talking about! look at these temperatures over the past 24 hours. dropped 17 degrees by this time yesterday!

trinidad had 25 degrees cooler than they were this time yesterday. when does that trend reverse and warmup? i'll let you know. two tornadoes have ripped across central indiana this afternoon. one twister went through the city 40 miles north of jips. there were no reports of any injuries yet. dozens of cars damaged by flyin a colorado sheriff goes to court accused of sexually assaulting a developmentally disabled inmate. a judge set the bond at $250,000. andrea flores travelled to northeastern colorado for this very important case and just left that courtroom where sheriff tom hannah was advised of the charges. >> reporter: that's right. we were there the entire time in the courtroom. he kept his head

said he plans to contest every charge and says he's not a menace to society. those charges include two felony sexual assault allegations, official misconduct and soliciting charges as well. according to an arrest affidavit, he allegedly took a handcuffed developmentally disabled woman from jail to his home in his personal vehicle. there he allegedly offered her $60 for sex, forced her to strip and perform sexual acts. the victim money back. he handcuffed the woman again at his home and transmitted her to logan county jail. he later deposited $20 into her economiesary account -- commissary account. he is still the sheriff in the county, but an acting sheriff will fill in. we spoke with one ever his neighbors who said she's

new information about a head-on crash involving a suspected dui driver going the wrong way down a highway. the victim, a student teacher. the pickup driver alsollow dyed. speed along with alcohol or drugs a man who caused a 9-hour manhunt in boulder. it ended when the suspect, russell dan yeshlgs got shot buchlts not clear how. he survived and was taken to eye hospital. jamie leery shows us what went down overnight. >> reporter: one woman managed to escape unharmed just down the street behind me is the motor home that russell daniels was living in. this is where the

manhunt. police came to this motor home because it was illegally parked. when they confronted daniels, the situation went from bad to worse. >> as we attempted to make contact with the individual, he immediately became uncooperative. >> reporter: daniels fired four shots inside the motor home. a woman inside with daniels who has a restraining order against him ran outside where police quickly gave her cover. >> officers threw her to t ground and covered her with their bodies to protect her from the shots being fired >> reporter: there was so much commotion outside the motor home, sleeping wasn't an option for those living nearby. >> one shot, and then there were like four bangs right after. >> reporter: daniels was finally taken into custody just after 7:00 am. copder 4 was assisting police with the search and captured the moments paramedics took him.

police put warning out to 6,000 homes overnight and are relieved to sate public is no longer at risk risk. a mountain community has come together to honor a sheriff's deputy shoot to death and -- shot to death and two others wounded while swerving an eviction notice. we've been to park county several times since the attack on those officers and talked to the grieving and angry mi matt skroeshl reporting on kerrigan and the other first responders being recognized for their bravery. kroschel is reporting on kerrigan and the other first responders being recognized for their bravery. >> reporter: it's been six months to the day since that horrible shooting, and for the deputies who were there that day, they were honored with medals at a ceremony in park county. at time, that ceremony was tense. that's because the family of nate kerrigan who was killed in the shootout accepted those medals from the same

suing. >> for me it was important for this day to finally get here >> reporter: one of the worst days in the history of the park county sheriff's office. >> it's been hard on all of us. >> reporter: deputies attempting to serve an eviction notice to a man who had made threats against police before. martin werth launched an assault using a high caliber rifle. minutes that have forever changed these officers and their families lives. >> he shielded the wounded deputy with his body. >> reporter: martin and hancock, officers, carry the scars from that horrible day. >> the assailant opened fire directly on deputy martin and the other officers. he was immediately struck by gunfire and was seriously wounded. >> reporter: these deputies although injured did go home to

>> i award this purple heart to your family posthumanously. >> reporter: his feechl accepted his purple heart and medal as questions about the entire incident and a possible legal battle with the sheriff loom. >> kerrigan died a warrior's death >> reporter: that day broke hearts and forever changed this community. medals won't bring kerrigan back. but the sheriff says he hopes it begins to heal hearts of those whey left behind. his family and loved ones, some of them were there today. we talked to them off-camera. they say they appreciate the continued support of members of this community. and there is a lot of support

dry. the skies clear, sunshine to start your day tomorrow morning. then afternoon showers push in by 3:00. and they hang around for most of the day, into the evening hours. then they're gone. and then friday, 1:30, showers and thunderstorms again. they pass through, then we get another round, about 10:00 on friday night. and they push through as well. and then we see skies clear. and this is your over the place. as we look at big picture, here is that front, now stationary. that's the cooler air that pushed right in along the front range, and is cooled us, only into the 60s today. we didn't even get into the 70s. warmer down to the south, and the southwestern portion of the state felt that. we had 68 at the airport. 66 degrees downtown after starts of 58 and 57. and 86 and 57 are norms for this time of year. 63 and 62 right now, a little breezy, southeast at 20.
