colorado state patrol officers, fort collins police officers, and a lot of construction on this part of 287. they have the highway shut down. this incident happened a mile down the road as people are familiar with this area. there's a jackson ranch nearby where this officer-involved shooting happened. fort collins police say this happened around 8:00 tonight. as of right now,s there is a multiagency response team that has come to this area and investigating this incident. so far we don't know if the officer that was involved is injured or what kind of shape the suspect is in. we'll bring you more information hopefully in this newscast. new developments in a case we've been following for many years. this is a new picture of

7-year-old daughter in aurora in 1984. another daughter survived. karen morfitt is at aurora police headquarters. >> reporter: far beyond a sketch, this image is generated using the suspect's actual dna. it's fairly now technology. and the aurora police department is the first in colorado to use it. detectives are hoping these leads in a case that has been cold for years. investigators believe this is the face of a murderer. the suspect in a nearly 33-year-old cold case. >> this case has never been put on the shelf completely. probably because it was such a horrific case >> reporter: detective connor was securing the scene the day the bennetts were found bludgeoned to death with a

another daughter was left for dead with a shattered skull and broken jaw but she survived. she spoke with cbs4 ten years later. >> every time somebody asks me what happened, which is almost every day. >> reporter: investigators have worked and reworked evidence found at the scene. it was detective connors who considered using dna genotyping. >> they have backgrounds on the case and they can put some kind of a face to the person. >> reporter: the result this was photo of what the suspect might have looked like at the time of the crime, and this one of what he could look like today. connor is hopeful these images will prompt new leads in a case that may have gone cold

this is shut down near terry lake. we have another camera overnight scene. rob mcclure is much closer to the scene, and it shows that 287 is shut down. that's part of this investigation. he has seen a lot of officers walking across the highway as they are looking for evidence. this happened at a business on the south side 287. close to shield drive. we are told this is a multiagency operation, and i would bet this highway would be closed for quite a long time. children as young as 11 years old being rescued from asian brothels. this humanitarian work is undercover and risky.
