forecast straight away this morning. we're going to find out how long this cool wave is going to be with us. dave aguilera, what do we have? >> 57 this morning. we've had a few sprinkle that is morning, but i think those are moving out of the area. so we'll be cloudy through noon. 68 degrees and 76 to be the high. we'll have more showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. the 80s, joel, may return weekend. we'll talk about that in a little bit, but you know you have traffic to tell us there's a rollover that crossed off a ramp to i-225 getting onto iliff. we're watching i-225 at 17th place. probably related. breaking overnight. one 1 man dead after fort collins police officers shot him. cbs4 jaime leary is live at college and shields not far from where this happened. investigators -- i can see they're gathering evidence. >>reporter: yeah, they do have a

you said closed down. that's east of me. we can't get closer to the scene. that was the same situation for reporters on this story late last night. they're still processing it is what i'm told. that portion is closed off. police tried to subdue the subject in a domestic violence situation. but we're told not only was he armed but he was uncooperative. they tried to do so using non violence methods. after 7:00, a woman claimed the suspect was b others. when officers arrived to her home to interview and other witnesses, the suspect came back. officers watched him illegally enter the victim's home. a team of officers instructed the man to come out which he did, but he was allegedly advancing towards the officers. he ignored their commands and they tasered him. he continued to advance towards them so they had to make the decision to fire the weapons.

the suspect was taken to the local hospital where he was pronounced dead. a portion of college is closed off just east of new york and shields. they're going to process this scene this morning. we're going to keep an eye on this investigation. jaime leary, cbs news. a bicyclist is hurt from a hit-and-run. police say the vehicle hit a bike at la may and bull and mulberry. police do not yet have a vehicle's description out there. breaking overnight in denver, firefighters were mopping up after a small fire in the 600-block of merra posa street. the address comes up as a construction building that houses a special education school there. we're going to let you know if we find out what caused that fire.

today. in italy, shocks rolling through the 3 towns hit by a big earthquake witness. they're bringing down more buildings and homes. 267 people are known dead. 400 are hurt. and parts of those historic villages are piles of rubble. we have footage from drones showing damage. there have been strong dimming hopes of pulling out anymore survivors. it has been more than a day and a half since the last person was pulled out alive. funerals are going to begin today for some of the dead. saturday is a day of mourning in italy. there's a burkini, ban.

truck attack by an isis inspired clothing. officials say the clothing may make those feel unsafe. a woman had to remove -- women canning fined. more than a dozen other cities implemented that ban calling it a religious display not compatible with french values. let's go to weather with dave. >> if you have an early bus stop you have to wait for, it will be mostly cloudy and sprinkles out there. 55 degrees this mo you can see the sprinkles on the wide doppler 4000. they're falling apart. we have a good little soaker going through the northern part of the city within the last hour here. i don't think this will last all morning. temperatures around the region is 55 in boulder right now. 57 in englewood and 53 in castle rock. we'll be cloudy and sun breaking through in the mid-day and isolated thunderstorms popping again this afternoon.

he works for denver public schools. he wasn't hurt, but there's a lot of damage. there's an effort to crack a case we've been following for many years and it involves a case of an aurora family murdered in 1984. karen morfitt has new information. >>reporter: investigators believe this is the face of a murderer. the suspect in a nearly 33-year old cold case >> this case has never been put someone always poking at it probably because it was a horrific case. >> cold case detective connor was securing the scene that bennett and his wife debra and their 7-year old daughter melissa were found -- another daughter 3-year old vanessa was left for a dad with a shattered skull and broken jaw, but she survived. she spoke to cbs410 years ago.

a shot the moisture through denver and northern colorado. a little dryer shot is coming. we start off cloudy and see the sun break through. another line of moisture moving into western colorado and that's showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. what's happening is we still have cooler air in place over the east side the rockies with a little disturbance shooting through and that's providing moisture. there's high pressure in california. that will move in through the forecast. we'll break through with sunshine and more shower and thunderstorms this afternoon popping across eastern plains. about a 20 to 30% chance across the east. anything east of the divide here. so a good chance today of getting at least a little moisture. 70s and 80s down low. 60s in the mountains today. so the forecast for denver, 76 is the high. showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. 83 tomorrow. a little more sunshine with isolated afternoon storms, so we keep the 80s rolling through the

thunderstorm. so right now, joel, i know you guys work monday through friday and wondering with the weekend. it looks good. >> we like that. that's a lot of 80s. i feel i need to tight roll my jeans. there's a traffic alert northbound along i-225. this is not a good start to the morning commute. looking at this. we have lanes blocked off as you access i-70. this is a mess for drivers. look at that stop and go traffic. due to an accident at 17th. in the southbound direction we've seen slowing as there's curiosity. that's not our only trouble spot. there's a ramp closed from southbound i-225 to iliff. the investigation and cleanup of a rollover accident continues along there. unfortunately that is not our only trouble spot. we have tire in the road northbound along i-25 passed santa fe. it looks

we have a ramp closed from southbound i-225 to get onto iliff and there's -- the larimer sheriff's county is taking over the shooting of a man last night. it happened in the mist of a domestic call. jaime leary is live where the incident happened. jaime. >>reporter: alan, this is the scene where it happened. police investigating the incident. but they have cleared the scene at this point in time. now, this all happened when police say that a man was advancing towards them, brandishing a weapon. they say he wouldn't listen to their commands. they even tried to taser him. it started when he was bothering a woman here with several other people. the woman called 911 after 7:00 last night. when police arrived on scene, the suspect came back, really entered her home,
