and amber alert out of colorado springs is now canceled and authorities say jonathan beatty took his three- month-old after getting into a fight with the child's mother and police say that beatty threatened to call the baby and mother, police caught him a short time ago and that baby we're told is fine tonight a man is dead after an officer involved shooting

police say he was holding at the time and what they tried to do before opening fire and dpd said the men had a warrant for his arrest but it is not clear what it was for, cbs4's melissa garcia has been combing through the details. >> she joins us live from where the shooting happened. >>reporter: kathy and tom police say the man inside the home advanced with a knife towards officers and refused to comply with orders to drop it. one officer deployed his taser but police say when that did not work they opened fire. out of the house on fox and ellsworth investigators entered wearing masks and the house with a sign that reads the visitors after 10 pm and shade covered windows is now surrounded by red caution tape. officers responded to the home just before 3 am on saturday to pick up a man that was wanted but the suspect inside who police say was armed with a knife that did not come out without a fight. police ended up firing shots of the suspect hitting him and he

happen and too bad they could not have got him out without killing him. but it is what it is.>> several others were in the home at the time the shooting including one man who police say head on the roof and a fire truck crane lifted swat officers to the rooftop where police took him into custody. >> this is not something you would expect to happen especially here and so it is a shock to the neighborhood.>> a committee and a baker neighborhood that uneventful except for the house on the corner where police have been called before, a house that neighbors say is an eyesore not just for what is in it but also for what happens there. we asked police that they could confirm what kind of activity was going on inside that home and they were not able to give us that information. the suspect who was shot by police as i had his identity

for 17-year-old accused of shooting his brother which happened earlier this morning at near the csu foothills campus and there is no word on what led to the shooting or the victim's condition. the suspect is a 5'7" hispanic male and he could be wearing a bloodstained white t-shirt and shorts. more breaking news, this from douglas county where firefighters worked to put out the brush fire about one hour ago when it burned around 10 acres near highway 85 and airport road but it is not overall it is been a beautiful day but will storm clouds stay away from mile high stadium?>> meteorologist dave aguilera and hopefully mother nature will call off the dogs. spin i think so but if the dogs come out they will be maybe some puppy chihuahuas that they do make it out and there is the stadium, partly cloudy skies which is great for tailgating but there is moisture coming in from the west and southwest right into colorado and we do

welcome back to mile high, last year the broncos won 11 games via touchdown or less than you do not do that without a a broncos defense that has proclaimed that there will be even better in 2016. the denver defense is looks good so far in training camp and they have been good in the preseason as well but we've not seen the first team together that much. the starters have not given up that many points. what the broncos consider the number one defense, they've only been on the field for 18 place together and so tonight against the rams will be there first and only extended work together. >> i think it is very critical

come in and played against third and fourth string defenses but we've seen paxton become much more comfortable in the office within the last few weeks. the numbers are the first two preseason games, 21 of 33 and 187 yards and two touchdowns and one interception. we saw the practice this week so expect to see a fair amount of him tonight and it is clear that the rookie paxton lynch has become much more comfortable with the broncos offense.>> we see guys like trevor and them to know what is going on and pick up on stuff quickly. you know i am a little behind them, but i definitely feel a lot more comfortable with where i am and when we put new stuff then i had to pick it up quicker and come out here practice.>> he had a good week of practice and he is confident in what he is doing and i think he has confidence in us to do what he does best. i think is made a lot of

welcome back to cbs4 news at 5 pm beautiful shot there was clouds building, broncos play in one hour.>> isn't it hard to come into work when the days are this nice? it is hard to the suit on and come in today but look at doppler 4000, when thunderstorms down southwest and a few out east, the cow dry it is from de to sterling and it is not until you get from burlington up to ray colorado thunderstorms fire up in this one is been a severe storm out in cheyenne county. this goes until 6:15 pm and as it exits the state it is 60 mile an hour winds with quarter sized hail possible. we do have storms and showers trying to make it out of the foothills into the denver metro but so far we've seen clouds and light breezes, there is a
