85 the high today. if you don't get spring kle action -- sprinkle action this morning maybe some showers later on today. the five day forecast is coming up later. joel. >> thank you. a developing story out of parker. three cars and a motorcycle crashed injuring seven people. take a look at these pictures. it happened before 7:00 at parker rod and ya morgan boulevard. crews freed several o inside the vehicle. the extent of the injuries the unknown. an update on the larimer county shooting that we reported yesterday morning. the teen suspect called investigators and turned himself in. he was taken into custody last night facing first degree assault charges. a man died after being shot by police. it happened at fox and elsworth. he was armed with

officers. after refusing to drop his weapon they tried to tase him. that didn't work. they shot him and he died at the hospital. >> this is something you wouldn't expect to happen here. it's oo shock -- it's a shock to the neighborhood and shock to the community. >> this isn't the first time the police have been at this home. the identity of the man has not been released. assault suspect in denver. a woman was attacked on the trail. >> they're afraid to walk the trail. >> lisa rhodes said a re cent attack has her neighbors on edge. >> i won't walk on the trail with my daughter. >> a woman walking on the trail was attacked by a man friday afternoon. a neighbor who did not want to be identified tells us he came across the victim

>> i was walking the trail and ran into her at the bridge and she was in tears. >> he was able to snap this picture of the man walking away. by chance the good samaritan said he ran into aman who fit the description standing on the bridge saturday afternoon and called police. >> he wasn't friendly, wasn't happy. >> denver police took 25-year-old demarcus bookhart into custody. >> if i've seen him in this neighborhood, i lived here for 16 years and i've seen him over the summer going skateboarding up and down the streets. >> residents say this is the second attack on the trail. >> it's a perfectly safe lift trail. -- safe little trail. nobody had to worry before. twice in 10 days, that's bad news. >> denver police are now trying

typhoon hit japan the country is getting ready for another one. winds at 127 miles per hour are getting ready to hit japan's east coast. dave, what can you tell us about that? >> here's the satellite imagery. tokyo is in the middle and here's the hurricane. a well defined eye with that. that's gaining strength. as that eye getting tighter and tighter that's evidence that it's getting stronger and stronger. right now lion rock has 115 miles per hour moving north, northeast at 17 miles per hour. that equivalent of a category 3 hurricane if it happened in the gulf or close to the united states here. here we go with the predicted track on this. it will effect areas of japan just north of tokyo on monday it looks like. it's going to be very problematic. they're going to have severe flooding and huge problems. by tuesday on into wednesday it will lose some of its punch but go over into north korea and be a problem out there. this is really going to

at all. we have a very nice weekend here going on. the last weekend of august already. 54 in greeley right now, 63 in boulder and 46 in aspen going on. here's a look out our tech center camera. if you look closely there's a little bit of rain coming out of some of the clouds that are moving in over the air. you might get a little sprinkle going on this morning. dave poleman is our weather watcher this morning checking in with 58 degrees. here's the satellite and radar and you can see the cloud shield just kind of coming right up the pik right up the i-25 corridor. on radar a couple of echoes from fremont county into south denver. a sprinkle this morning and moisture out in grand junction. some light there rain coming over a low that's over arizona here. a weak little storm system that's moving in. now it's picking up moisture. that's the reason that we're so cloudy this morning. through the morning enough heat to get thunderstorms going.

initially showers and thunderstorms in the mountains as the moisture pushes back with the low. in the heat of the day more thunderstorms will move out over the palmer divide and the metro area. more souths from south of fort collins and greeley and down into pueblo into the night tonight. in the mountains 60s and 70s up there. we'll be in the 80s to near 90 degrees. so a pretty average temperature for thisim colorado. we're looking at 85 in denver. isolated storms this afternoon. a better chance of rain than we had yesterday. we cool it down just a little bit. monday, tuesday and wednesday near 80 degrees. isolated storms. back to the middle 80s on thursday with isolated storms on that day as well. what you notice there also is the over night lows in the 50s each night. great sleeping weather. >> it's like perfect . into the 80s. not too cool, not too

welcome back. this is the news on cbs 4. it's 7:30 on sunday, august 28th. we just learned there's an accident inbound along pena boulevard at 56 that's blocking off the lane there. if you're going to be heading out to the airport be sure to allow a little extra time this morning. dave is joining us in colorado's weather it looks like there's some rain today. >> you can see the rain on doppler 4000. a little moisture streaming up from down south making its way up the pike. we are socked in with clouds and pretty much temperatures 61 in boulder now, 64 in engelwood and centennial at 62. bob lockhart is coming in at 50 degrees and a cloudy out there.

70 degrees by 9:00 a.m. with just a passing shower going on. by noon it will be about 80 with partly cloudy conditions. by 2:00 it will be 85 degrees with showers and thunderstorms and a better chance of getting some rain from some of those storms today. we'll take a look at the week ahead and the end of august is on wednesday. we'll see if we have anymore rain on the way before we finish out the mountain. >> where did august go? thanks to a tip police were able to find the suspect jonathan beady and take him into custody. he took his 3-month-old son after getting in a fight with his child's mother and threatening to kill both. the baby was unharmed. family and friends are remembering a man killed in a street racing crash. john jefferson was t-boned on federal boulevard last week. howard nathan talked to the woman that

i want to take you out to our cdot camera at i-70 at tower road the airport. watch your speed. the traffic not bad i -70 at tower road. the dia said that inbound pena boulevard there's an accident at 56th that's reduced things down to one lane. it's actually a vehicle fire there. security lines are up to 20 minutes long right now. of course, dave, if you're heading out to the airport it always seems like you check and it's 20 minutes and get there and it's really more like 40. >> yeah. it looks like somebody was unlucky there.

>> too bad. hey, here's a live look looking at the little wind farm that we have on the way to boulder. just south of boulder over by the flatirons there. some of those turbines are spinning around a little bit. a little breeze coming off the foothills this morning. a few clouds and showers as well. air quality is moderate today. no alert day. breathing shouldn't be a problem if you have any issues there. future cast now does show clouds moving up few sprinkles of rain are on the radar this morning. so we have a chance of that. then we'll get a little brief of pocket of sunshine in the midday, enough to get showers and thunderstorms fired up this afternoon. a little better chance of actually getting some rain out of the storms later today. most likely after about 3:00 or 4:00 that will happen. 87 in fort collins today, should be about 84 in boulder and denver, evergreen in the 70s this afternoon. so pretty typical day for august around here. we'll take a look at the five day forecast and take you all the way through

time now for today's top stories. look at these terrible pictures that just came into the news room. seven people hurt after a three-car and motorcycle crash in parker. it happened just been 7:00 last night at parker road and jay morgan boulevard. we don't know the extent of the injuries or what caused the crash. crews from -- crews had to free several of the victims who were trapped inside the vehicles. two men remain missing after a small plane crashes into a lake near a new orleans airport. officers responded to a report that is cessna airport carrying three people crash ed into the lake. they are looking for those missing. italy's state museums are going to be donating proceeds today to relief and

coming in at 57 degrees. a cool morning out there. not as cold as yesterday. yesterday we had 48 to start the day that tied a record low. cloud cover this morning. there we are socked in the cloudsful clouds. you can see a few echoes on doppler 4000. you can see them making their way towards denver. i'm picking up over bertha pass some right rain mixed with snow. swath of rain from grand junction into meeker this morning. this is from a low in northern arizona spinning up now getting the moisture caught up from texas and new mexico up into colorado here. so a cloudy start to the day. we'll have some sun breakthrough in the midday and then get back into the thunderstorm action this afternoon. here's how the future cast plays out. by noon some sun and then bam, it gets going in the mountains. you're going to get some rain today the

afternoon about 3:00 some of those storms could pull off into denver and fire off over the palmer divide. rain through denver and trinidad through the evening. that's the weather map at 10:00 tonight. you could get some measurable rain at least for your neighborhood. highs today will be in the 80s primarily here to the east, in the 60s and 70s in the mountains. a mixture of 80s and 70s out there on the western slope. in dento and thunderstorms but a better chance of rain than yesterday. 81 tomorrow. we bring it down with isolated rain. we keep the 80s rolling all the way through thursday. a chance of storms popping up each and every day as well. so the first day of september looking at a high of 84 degrees. >> can you believe it? no hoodies quite yet? >> not yet. i think we can wait for that. >> we can enjoy summer. >> maybe a thin
