white on your screen. we'll talk more about that in a moment. good morning, we saw the drive from copter4 there. take a look at drive times as you make your way southbound into town. speeds into the if i was and 60s in both directions. the search for a person who hit and killed a driver. police have not release description of the driver who drove off from the scene. this morning a look at the new buses introduced along the 16th street mall. you're going to thank this is cool. >> reporter: good morning, the biggest noticeable difference about these brand new buses is the bright red color. let's take a look and see what's on the inside. these buses are totally electric and they can get through an

one charge. brand new so 36 in total is going to replace the old fleet which is actually necessary. the old fleet 16 years in the running so they have seen their fair share of passengers. 45,000 passengers per day. so these buses see a lot of traffic basically 200,000 miles is what the old buses had on them. these are brand new and can get through the day with one they have ac on them to stay cool during the summer. these buses that go from union i don't know station to civic station have seen their better days. there's 36 of them. the public can get its own viewing today at skyline park starting at 11:00. right now this is your sneak peek. live in union station, jamie leary, cbs4 news.

host riory. a shooting at a la airport terminal -- what was reported to be a shooting. police serged the airport but say they found nothing. officers say a loud noise caused the scare. vide man into custody wearing a zorro costume with a plastic sword. they're not saying if he's connected to the evacuation. new from overnight, reports of a bomb outside belgium's criminal institute are false. they say someone set a crime lab on fire and terrorism wasn't part of the attack.

people in belgium still on high alert. monday morning and here's your weather and traffic. good morning, off to a fairly mild start on this monday morning. rain in some areas and a few thunderstorms on the eastern plains. north west you're fairly dry. south side of town there's a little bit of light rain. lighter rain as you head near parker as well. more to the south you see scattered showers down towards colorado springsre heavy rainfall this morning. also out near carvell, a light rain to start the day. for your bus stop this morning, temperatures in the mid 60s on the cloudy side and fairly mild. let's check in with joel. how is the morning drive? good morning, we're watching from copter4. along i-270. we're seeing excellent drive

and 60s. take a look along i-70 it's starting to load up. here we are across the denver metro area. kay couple trouble spots. we're focused on this one near alameda and federal. some curiosity slowing and blocking off the side streets along there so keep that in mind. a man survived a deadl wrong way crash in parker. that crash happened on saturday night near j morgan boulevard and it sent debris across the road. the wrong way driver clipped his mirror before collided with another vehicle. the wrong way driver died. >> the guy was either severely intoxicated so much so he had to idea what he was doing or he was on a suicide mission.

clipped one vehicle and went airborne over two people on a motorcycle. this is the aftermath. parker police say they found small bottles of alcohol at the scene. >> incredible. donald trump says he will be giving a big speech on immigration in arizona on wednesday. there's some speculation he's softening on proposals to start a deportation force. his running mate mike pence says p >> we have a mechanism for dealing with people in the country. it's going to be fair and tough but there's no path to legalization and citizenship unless people leave the country. >> hillary clinton is off the campaign trail today holding donations with big donors.

colorado campaigning this weekend. a major poll shows her 5% of the vote behind gary johnson. >> the democratic party did not deserve you. they were not good enough for you. they did you a favor by liberating you. >> dr. stein wants to create 25 million environmentally jobs by investigating in renewable energy and promises to get rid of student debt free college education if elected president. today could be the day you land a new job. coast to coast career fairs is holding aevent in denver. more than 700 jobs are available and they include careers in law enforcement and customer service and marketing. the fair is at the marriott on south boulevard. today we could get an update on the lingering quarterback

well. mild start to the day. a little bit of rain in some areas but overall not too bad. let's look at what's happening this morning. western side of the state fairly clear and dry. rain in the san juans and rain in the eastern plains. in the denver area it's breaking up quite a bit. heavy rainfall south of denver this morning. light showers and some may not really heavy rainfall earlier today near salida and some rain and snow in higher elevations and eastern plains we have thunderstorm activity starting to ease up quite a bit. the morning rain eases up. here in denver a little bit of sunshine and most of today's storms will stay south of i-70

for thunderstorms and rain. some of it is skirting to the north and here in denver a few isolated storms and rain overnight through tomorrow morning. tomorrow morning you're dry and a little bit of cloud cover and rain. it's scattered from the eastern plains the the western slope and does include denver in the foothills. 63 in boulder. 48 in avon and 59 temperatures today are in the low 80s. feels nice out side. 85 in fort collins and sterling. 83 in lamar. 67 in frisco and 86 in grand junction. a chance for more rain this afternoon. isolated for the denver area and if you get a storm, watch out for quick heavy rainfall and small hail. these storms don't look to be severe though. warmer to end the week in the upper 80s. let's check in with joel, good

and federal. look at that volume this morning as folks make their way into town. it's time to back to school and work. we're starting to see some of that loading up affect the speeds as you're heading through town. nine minutes on the drive from 120th to i-70 with speeds in the upper 50s and similar situation webb along i-76. we're we are across the denver metro area. lights malfunctioning south of i-70 there. a couple other trouble spots where they're doing construction work. some police activity blocked off some of the side streets as you get along federal near alameda. we have seen some curiosity slowing because of that. here's a look at drive times from the east. northbound along parker road speeds into the 40s. southbound along i-25 loading up

italy are still recovering bodies after last week's powerful earthquake. hopes of finding anymore survey vors as the days pass. the earthquake hit before dawn last wednesday flattening three italian towns. investigators are promising to figure out if building code negligence maybe led to the high number of deaths. people are preparing for a inches of rain on the southern half of the florida peninsula and florida keys. another storm, gaston, is getting stronger as it moved in the atlantic. this is located southeast of bermuda right now. that storm will likely not threaten the united states. >> that one will not but the tropical depression bringing rain into florida's gulf side of

chance coming in and mainly south of the i-70 area, a couple pops here in denver and foothills and the best chance is in southern colorado. a trouble spot we're following southbound along i-25. this is near 104th. police have arrived blocking off the left lane. they pulled out of the hov lane a few moments ago. the express toll lane is open but there's the left lane blocked off and you can see the one car involved and the other is down on the right shoulder. that blue car looks undrivable. the drive time southbound speeds dipping in the 40s now. . thank you for that. denver police are looking for a driver who hit and killed a pedestrian and then apparently drove away from the scene.

headquarters. police are still looking for the driver. that investigation continuing and they had quite the scene last night as they closed off alameda but they were able to open it back up early this morning. if we take a look at the video overnight we see the extensive damage in this crash. we see the red sedan and the extensive damage including a broken windshield and part of the bumper smashed in as well as the airbags deployed. we don't know who was driving that car and if they have any injuries but looks like they were able to leave the scene. the victim died on scene baseden what we could see there. no other details about that pedestrian. we are waiting to hear back from them to find out where they go in this investigation and if they have details about a

motive for the crime. mosquito spraying is over this morning in larimer county. crews were out late last night trying to cut down on the spread of the west nile virus. they are asking people to empty standing water on their properties. a scary ride for people during a storm on red mountain pass. >> why do you want to go through here? >> look at the water down. silver ton extreme posted this video. heavy rain pushed debris on the road and water was coming down the mountain there and rocks nearly hit cars. >> you can see the rocks on the road there. that is a frightening drive and that can happen this time of year. >> yeah, you add that into the conditions outside, that is not fun at all. skies are a mix of sunshine and cloud cover. it's gorgeous in denver now.

65 in denver and 63 in boulder and 61 in greeley. 40 in leadville and 52 in salida and 53 in telluride. scattered showers in the south western koern er corner of the state. south side of town a few isolated showers to start the day south of bailey and salida out near bonanza as well. down near coloradin rain continue k as well. we'll see that stick around this morning and it will start to fill back in throughout the early morning afternoon hours. some of it is popping up to the north. there could be thunderstorms that produce heavier rainfall and small hail. they don't lack to be severe but small hail with that and we'll see that continuing on and off throughout the evening. 82 in denver.

today two united airlines planets accused of getting drunk before a flight are going to appear in a court in scotland. they arrested him while the passengers were boarding on saturday. the plane had been scheduled to take off from glasgow headed for newark. there was a ten-hour delay. a man is showing us just how close he came to a wrong way here's howard nathan with the story. >> we may learn the identity of the man driving the wrong way on southbound parker. >> not much left of this red toyota tacoma after the driver passed george hum friday going the wrong way. >> it happened atmore began and i passed him right about here. >> george was driving south in the middle lane of parker road when the wrong way driver

sidelines. the broncos face the cardinals this thursday in arizona and kick off is at 7:30. 49ers quarterback colin kaepernick is protests racial tendencies in america by sitting down during the national anthem. this comes after he stayed seating during a preseason game last friday. he says he's protesting the way african americans are treated in this country there's a lot of things that need to change. killing people. >> some fans are reacting and burning his jersey but 49ers head coach chip kelly says the team will not stop him from sitting in the future claiming it's his right as a citizen. new faa regulations make it easier to become a certified drone pilot.

fly an airplane before today. just in this morning the makers of epipen are announcing a product change after outrage over the pricing of the medicine. mylan says it will make a generic version available to people. this will cost $300 for a two pack. the company charges f $00 for a two pack. mylan anticipates having the generic version next several weeks. a crew spends a year in a dome in a simulated environment. they could only go outside if they wore space suits. their year was finally over and they were allowed out. look at that. there's a great world out there. a few were unable to communicate easily during that time.
