moment. it's a food frenzy downtown this weekend. around civic center park some roads are already closed and the road closures will be in place until tuesday morning. we have the rockies game. i would use public transportation. thank you for that. back to the hurricane now. hurricane hermine made land fall along florida's big bend area. it's been downgraded to a tropical storm but it was a category 1 storm when it brought the 80 miles per hour winds on shore. it was the first hurricane to hit florida in 11 years. don champion has the latest. >> reporter: hurricane hermine plum led parts of florida's panhandle with heavy rain and forceful winds shortly before making land fall overnight in

florida panhandle. >> those people are getting lashed by rain and the mayor of tallahassee says half the city is without power right now. residents of hawaii's big island are dealing with the aftermath of madeline that started as a category 1 hurricane. businesses boarded up store fronts and popped up sandbags. the safety measures have to stay in place because lester, a category 3 storm is on track to affect the islands this weekend. the national spotlight is focused on the jonbenet ramsey murder mystery. cbs is airing a series of special reports on this crime this month. the boulder police department is flooded with interview requests as the 20th anniversary of her death approaches. we see how the police chief has released a statement on video. >> the boulder police department is committed to finding justice

cbs4 news. sports authority executives are getting bonuses despite the company folding and leaving 14,000 people out of work. the judge ruled they could pay three unnamed senior executives up to $1.5 million. federal bankruptcies protested to stop the original bonuses which were $2.58 million. they filed for bankruptcy in march and shut the doors at then here we are going into labor day weekend. for some, heavy rain is rolling through the western slopes. here across the frang and eastern plains we are dry now and there's fog out east, not quite as bad as yesterday. you can see up to rifle and colburn near glenwood springs he have a rainfall and some of that is getting closer to aspen.

crested butte your rain is developing. scattered showers filling in more from steamboat springs up into walden. red feather lakes you're getting a bit as well and boulder county some light rain. this afternoon there's a chance for bigger thunderstorms here in denver in fort collins and all the way down south and east into the plains. the biggest threats today are hail and heavy rainfall. some could produce hail we hit earlier this week. let's take a look at futurecast. that heavy rainfall is coin few showers quickly this morning here in denver, probably around noon and a better chance of that coming in later this afternoon and evening. we could get storms to head our way after 2:00 or 3:00 just because it's not rolling through downtown denver doesn't mean we don't have the potential. the crews to the eastern plains this evening so tonight we'll be okay for the activities but before that there could be wet weather for us around town with these thunderstorms and we wake up tomorrow to clear skies with

isolated storms rolling through denver in the late afternoon and evening hours. if you're going to the high country for the holiday weekend there's a chance for storms tomorrow so be care. 64 in denver and boulder. 45 in leadville and 61 in grand junction. 83 in denver and greeley and for fort collins, 79 in burlington and limon and 68 in aspen and 84 in grand junction. tomorrow in the upper 80s and some areas may hit sunday. take a look at this drive. expecting a typical friday morning commute. maybe lighter volume because of the labor day weekend. a lot of company on that drive starting to slow down. average speeds in the upper 60s. along i-270 both directions speeds in the 50s and 60s.

the mix up happened on august 17th and yesterday we heard from the mother who says she feared the worst. her son was supposed to travel on a jetblue flight from the dominican republic to new york. he was traveling alone so his mother paid an extra $100 to have him accompanied by a flight attendant but somewhere along the way a passport mix up sent the boy to boston and another five martinez says hours passed before jetblue realized the the error and connected her son to her. >> when he came he had stomach pain and pain in his knee. >> he arrived back at jfk later that day. jetblue has apologized and offered the family $2,000 in
