e. developing now, a fast- moving brush fire is evacuating homes. the starwood fire broke out this afternoon near county road 59 and star wood trail in livermore. we go live tonight. obviously that fire is keeping crews busy out there. >> busy all day. unclear how many people followed a mandatory or voluntary evacuation. crews behind me are working to keep people out of the area until tomorrow morning when they go back in to fight those flames. >> go when they tell us we need to. >> reporter: evacuations are in order for the area around wyoming border. when the fire grew.

structures destroyed. >> reporter: many remain in danger. looking at hundreds of structures. >> reporter: residents kept an eye on the flames, at one point, they say the smoke came too close. >> you could hardly see across the road. >> it was thick and you can see ash coming at you. >> reporter: hot temperatures and dry conditions. there was a fire weekend. i saw campers with fires going. that is what i was concerned b. we also had lightning storm last night. >> reporter: more than 120 firefighters, working to tackle the fire come monday morning, they say all they can do is sit and watch. >> it is scary. people's property and you know you hate to see a fire on somebody's place. >> reporter: now the cause of the fire is still under investigation. no word yet on when it may be contained. again those hot and dry temperatures could effect their

flames under control. reporting live in larimer county, cbs 4 news. >> thank you. another brush fire broke out on dear trail. it burned 200 acres and it is now fully contained. no structures were lost. corals were damaged. no word on what sparks that fire. our meteorologist is standing by in colorado's weather center, dave we heard there was lightning where the fires broke out today? >> yes. a lot of lightning. now, if they say lightning caused the fire i ul a lot of lightning and wind. things are calm now. breezy out there. nothing showing up on the radar. if we take you back to this afternoon you can see dear trail over here, watch as we get to about 3:00 or so, lightning starts to fire up around here. they were fast-moving storms so they did not last long. we had lightning and winds up

along with that, storms over eastern colorado. we had up to softball-sized to baseball sized hail from fort morgan all of the way out to sections of jewelsberg, all of the way down to alvin. and in jewelsberg with the golf- ball sized hail they had windows broken there. there is fort morgan, half an inch to 1 inch hail up golf ball-sized hail falling. now, we had power poles coming down. some of the winds were going 61- 95 miles an hour in some locations. here is a twitter picture from chris. a power pole leaning over the roadway. kind of crazy as you look at that. then, there were several reports of those power poles that were blown down with all of the wind down there. tomorrow, it will will be a calmer day and it will be another warm day.

weather lucious weather and others not so much. we t was mostly dry here in the front -- on it was mostly dry here in the area. later in the day we had some -- just a handful of storms that went severe for awhile near hillrose here in washington county. they had funnel clouds sighted by some of the law enforcement there. th a lot of hail out of the storms. tonight, calmed down. drier air is rotating into the area. what got the storms going today is a combination of southwesterly flow, bringing in moisture in. and a good jet stream flowing around this low pressure trough over california. zooming right into colorado. that provided lift for the storms to get going today. now, tomorrow what should happen is jet it will lift further up to the the north and takeaway some of the gusty winds that we had.

some of the lift will be gone as well along with drier air coming in. calmer conditions coming in for monday, tuesday, wednesday as well. tuesday we have a slight chance of seeing storms. you will see that in the five day forecast. today, a warm one. making it to 90 degrees out at the airport. officially, 87 downtown, 83 highs, the record, 97 set in 1995. so, 7 degrees away from the record high today. 67 out there now with the northeast wind at 10 mi hour. rising pressure as well. future cast tonight, through tomorrow morning, mostly clear skies across the state. tomorrow afternoon, look at this. thunderstorms across southeastern areas of the state. most the rest of colorado should be in the sunshine area during the morning and afternoon. and, in fact, clear skies throughout the evening tomorrow. overnight tonight, in the 40s
