i think that puts the pressure on the other guys. the offensive line needs to play well. they need to open up holes for anderson, get that running game going. if that's can happen, it's going to allow trevor more time to throw and get more comfortable in his first game. >>reporter: defensively for the broncos, it's important that they get to carolina's quarterback in cam newton, we saw him in super bowl 50, and i think if they can do that tonight, then they'll have a good shot at winning this game. >>reporter: von miller said this week that carolina plays out there -- he's not going to call it easier than the super bowl, but they expect carolina to execute better than they did back in february, so broncos need to execute better as well. >>reporter: the bottom line is i think everybody is happy football is back and certainly mile high will be rocking later tonight. >> all right, guys, thanks a lot. broncos say you might want to be in your seat at mile high before the pregame entertainment starts at 6:20. that includes a championship celebration, recognizing the

there is plenty of star power. you've got the league mvp in cam newton on one side, and you've got the super bowl mvp in von miller on the other. all of this in prime time on a night when the broncos will celebrate their super bowl victory one last time. let's take a look at some key matchups in tonight's game. the bronco's defense must contain newton. with 35 passing touchdowns and 10 rushing touchdowns, newton can wreak havoc. he's as big as a defensive end, runs like a running back and throws the broncos need to keep newton inside the pocket and much like they did in the super bowl, rush with discipline. and the broncos have to block luke keekley. there is nothing this panther's linebacker cannot do, especially against a young quarterback. keekley drops into coverage, stuffs the run and makes all of the panther's presnap adjustments. if you're trevor, you have to locate luke on every play. while trevor is making his

rookie quarterbacks, bradbury and whorley. this opens the door for wide receivers, sanders and thomas to make the kind of plays we didn't see in the super bowl when the broncos had only two completions of more than 20 yards. so i guess it's a good thing the broncos sign sanders to a contract extension yesterday. alan, you gotta love this matchup >> you know, the thing, romi, i'm thinking about, okay, they're going to watch that tape like crazy from the super bowl an that's where trevor simeon in a way has an advantage, right? >>reporter: absolutely. the panthers are going to watch the preseason tape, the super bowl tape, some tape on the broncos last year, but what they don't have is a lot of tape on trevor simeon. they have a couple quarters of preseason and that's really it. that can give the broncos an advantage. last year it took teams a couple weeks to adjust. hopefully that will play to the bronco's advantage. >> when you play peyton manning and you have trevor simeon, that's a different story. thank you.

visibility. and on our satellite and radar, we are quiet this morning, and looking at our red-flag warnings, we still have one of those for jackson county starting at noon today. it's going to be windy up that direction and into wyoming and just breezy as you head a little bit farther south. taking a look at our futurecast for today, mostly sunny skies, and it should be a really nice day for all the pregame activities if you're heading to the nfl village. we could get a few thunderstorms out on the eastern plains, but we will stay quiet in denver and all the way to the western slope. 89 for us in denver today, 88 in boulder and greeley and 82 in the high country, 80s and 90s off to the west. for the broncos game today, nfl village, if you're heading out to all the fun, 88 degrees, it is going to be a warm afternoon, 85 for kickoff. again, sunshine, maybe a few clouds out there for us, and then looking at our five-day forecast, temperatures are going to be in the 70s tomorrow. we do have the chance for some windy conditions as a cold front comes through, and then we're in the 80s again on saturday. but 82 and sunshine on saturday, really going to be a nice week. >> sun is going to be shining
