garcia. >> reporter: that girl is being treated here at swedish hospital for smoke inhalation. and the hospital staff were not able to tell us how she is doing tonight for privacy reasons. but she almost did not make it out of the fire had it not been for a dangerous and remarkable rescue. her family escaped while she was trapped inside. >> this one hit home. choked up talking about their latest rescue. >> i have a little girl at home too. >> so do i. >> reporter: they rushed to a lakewood home where a 5-year-old girl was trapped inside. >> we knew that we had to get in there and find that girl and get her out as fast as we could. >> reporter: they put their life on the line. >> i was screaming, yelling,

police are now blaming sun glare for a deadly crash that killed a man in a wheelchair this morning in lakewood. the electric chair was going westbound in an eastbound traffic lane. the man died at the scene. the action of a few aurora police officers is under fire after they tazed an innocent man. >> jeff has been lookingnt >> this happened in february but the charge of failing to obey lawful orders was dropped last week. this camera is on an officer who arrived seconds before the tazing occurred. >> put your hands on your head! now! >> yes.

[ all talking ] >> you can see that contact , that interaction with the officers. you can see how the officer would ask for them to comply with his orders, and there was mr. pality who had some questions and he was ultimately tazed by one of the officers. >> stay there. >> reporter: the man tazed in this case dar sean kelly was injured. police were in the at a child. neither kelly or the man in this video were involved in that original call. an internal aurora police use of force board found the tazing to be within policy. the aclu says that policy needs to be changed. >> because this video shows what police should not be doing what they need to calm a situation, when they need to deescalate. >> the city of aurora said they will convene an independent review board that does include community members to look at

a standoff in boulder this morning, police accused kelly engel of attacking his roommate. they say he left, came back and threatened the roommate. police managed to get roommate out safely. >> >> a developing story many of you wanted us to follow. recovery of dan bright who survived a shootout with a man described as troubled and recluse near a soo we parker police officer fired the shots that killed that suspect. doctors say that detective bright is in critical condition. but he is responsive. >> officers arrived and upon arriving at the house, he immediately started taking gunfire from a large caliber rifle. >> reporter: detective bright was shot in his chest. fellow law enforcement rendered life-saving aid on-scene.
