5:45 am
eastern plains from oklahoma to texas and new mexico severe thunderstorms popping up. this high is coming in for the weekend so our temperature will slowly inch back up. by the time we're done with the weekend we may have a hint of summertime by the time we get to sunday. futurecast now, a couple isolated storms in the mountains and eastern plains here and there but there's a long shot to get measurable moisture out of those. a lot of green on the map and this denver's high should be around 72 so a cool, comfortable day. isolated storms possible this afternoon. 47 the low tonight. 77 tomorrow with isolated storms and the 80s come surging back for sunday, monday, and tuesday. middle 80s with mostly sunny skies. so you have a range of nice weather there. >> yeah, not bad at all.

the brojs will likely get physical with colts quarterback andrew luck on sunday. you can see the game right here on cbs4 and romi is in the house with what to watch out for this weekend at mile high. i read a miller hasn't got his hands on andrew luck so maybe that will happen this weekend let's hope so. for the fifth time the broncos face the colts, more like andrew luck and the colts. the broncos are 1-3 in the previous four meetings and the broncos biggest problem is the same -- beating andrew luck. how tough is it to beat luck? look at last year's team. they sacked luck once but they
5:49 am
lacerated kidney yet the colts still won 27-24. >> one thing about this guy, he's so tough and strong. that's part of his game, sitting there holding the ball until the last second getting it gone. he has a lot of speed. very dangerous from that standpoint when he extends plays it gets difficult. obviously they got it done against this last year and did a good job. >> so what do the broncos need to sunday? well, for starts the defensive backs have to hold their coverages longer because luck holds the ball and he's willing to take punishment to make a place. most quarterbacks aren't about that. because luck isn't afraid to take a hit from the league's feared defenses, the easiest way to keep him from scoring is keep him off the field. so trevor siemian's biggest job in his second nfl start is to
5:50 am
field. last week lions quarterback matt stafford had a field day. he went 31-39 for 340 yards and 3 touchdowns. britt, what this means is trevor siemian could have the opportunity to throw a lot more than the 26 times he did in last week's opener. >> did you feel trevor siemian has fit into the team at this point? there's always growing pains but do you feel like the team is synergetic now? >> absolutely. every game they play and eve chemistry. i was talking to john elway yesterday and he said they knew last year they saw in trevor siemian he could be a leader and it will take more time with the team and they know what kind of person he is and they know he can lead the team. von miller hasn't sacked andrew luck but he mentioned he would like to do this. can the team get him there?
5:51 am
they hit him a bunch. von miller wants it this year and he's in better shape and looks at every game like it's his best. >> how are we on the injury front? everybody okay? >> i'm so glad you asked. thomas did hurt his hip in the carolina game. a couple days ago i would have said i'm not sure if he was ready to go. he looked like he was really sore but yesterday he looked more comfortable and looks i think he will be fine. thomas should be good to go. >> thank you so much. you can watch that game right here on cbs4. kickoff at 2:25. hear more from romi on denver sports 760.
