we want to get to our top story this morning. there was an owes o explosion in new york. there is after one explosion went off last night and 29 people were hurt. police found two suspicious devices. this is a live look at the debris scattered there. the victims are going to be okay, but they believe the blast kenneth craig has the latest from new york. >> reporter: bomb-sniffing dogs searched for evidence, after an explosion rocked the heart of new york city saturday night. witnesses say the blast was so powerful it shook buildings and sent people running for cover. >> i heard boom. i thought it might be fireworks, but it was so loud, and it just went through my whole body. >> reporter: witnesses say the

posted pictures of shattered glass on their facebook pages. over two dozen people were injured here, but right now, their injuries don't appear to be life threatening. >> saw a guy bleeding. >> reporter: where was he bleeding from? >> from his head, right here. >> reporter: the mayor of new york tried to calm fears of terrorism, but said it was an intentl point of a terror connection to this incident. >> reporter: the explosion comes less than a be week after the 15th anniversary of 9-11. an nypd said too a second device was found four blocks away from the initial explosion scene. investigators say it appears took pressure cooker are attached to wiring and a cell tone. that device was removed safely.

today, and they are urging new yorkers to avoid the area. just about 45 minutes away from that scene, an equity of explosion in seaside park new jersey, this one anticipated during a marine corps charity race. the blast happened just as runners were due to pass a trash can yesterday morning, but the race started late, saving anyone from being hurt. >> that was actually a very been delayed, we would have been running by where the explosive device was. >> the fbi is investigating. they would not say whether they believe the incident was terror- related, or if the race was targeted. back here at home, friends and family of a 16-year-old girl are mourning her death. haley vargas was shot and killed during a party in thornton early yesterday

shooter. >> it's the worst thing i've ever experienced. >> reporter: emotions ran high at a prayer vigil as friends remembered haley vargas, the an attorney they say was shot and killed at a party overnight. >> talk to her every day, and now it's like i have that part of my missing. >> reporter: teens tells us the party was cut short just before 2:00 a.m. >> some guy just started shooting in the house, and everybody started running to their cars, and i seen street. >> reporter: two sisters who did not want to be identified tried to keep vargas alive until police got to the scene. >> nobody was helping her, so we just couldn't leave. >> i got my friends shirt and wrapped it around my hand and tried to stop the bleeding. >> reporter: vargas's friends

poll on cbsdenver.com. law makers in washington want to pull the plug on so- called ticket robots. that's the software that scoops up coveted tickets at major concerts and sporting events before anyone else, and then brokers resell them at high prices. congress has proposed a bill to end that practice. >> reporter: the producer of the hit musical hamilton im slamming the scalpers who used ticket robots as computerized cheaters. >> every time we put a new block of tickets on seal, the robots have invaded the ticketmaster system the second they went on sale, and electronically purchased almost all of the available inventory. >> reporter: that's what drove ticket prices into the thousands, and led the show's creator to call for a crackdown last month.

cdot is testing out a new tool to use when gathers data on traffic congestion. crews put a high tech drone to work this weekend. we caught up with some of the engine ears behind it to see what it can do to monitoring traffic. >> colorado's department even transportation is getting a bi's >> you can legally fly, and it you can see 37 miles. >> reporter: as part of an faa approved test. cdot along with uavu flight operations are using this six- prop drone to check out road conditions. >> so right now we have the camera locked on i-25 here. >> with a major concert happening at the air force academy, tens of thousands of cars are expected to pack the

colorado spring. this drone will help monitor traffic using its camera and 30 types zoom with video feeding back to cdot and law enforcement. that essentially allow this drone to fly for an unlimited amount of time, while also keeping it in a zone. >> so we're never flying over traffic or schools, never flying objective anything that could be of any use to any personnel. >> reporter: instead of stationary cameras mounted on polls or pricey helicopter right ins, experts say drones like this will provide more accurate and cost effective traffic monitoring for cdot. >> anytime there's an accident or an emergency, or even a road repair, they can just pop this up, take the pictures, manage the traffic situation.
