30-year-old luis urribe was sentenced for was far less. two count was marijuana possession. >> the evidence was such there wasn't a money laundering case. we didn't pled guilty to a money laundering charge, and while those were part of the allegation, they're not part of the outcome. >> reporter: a photo of hector diaz of columbia in a cherry creek village home. eventually pleaded guilty time served. charges against denver attorney david fur taddo are being dropped. he was accused of illegally bringing money from columbia into colorado to purchase a marijuana grow house. the other person charged was gerardo urribe he want got 90 days behind bars. >> colorado faces a challenge.

>> reporter: while marijuana may be legal in colorado, it's still a violation of federal law. >> reporter: the charges against the attorney david fur toddo were dropped. $450,000 was seized from him. he will not get that money back. rick salinger, cbs4 news. the latest on the men accused of selling fake broncos gear at theil two of the men have pleaded guilty. they wired $1,900 to china, and fake gear would come back to colorado. investigators say the ring sold $868,000 worth of illegal knock-off merchandise. a former colorado springs cop is also charged in this case but has not

it's national voter registration day. on the day after the most watched presidential debate in history. teams were out in civic center park this afternoon getting people registered. >> mroent of coloradans are already registered. >> colorado has the highest percentage of registered voters in the country, 87%, in part because of our secretary of state makes it so easy to get registered. colorado or co to 2vote. or go to our website and we have a link. ballots go out in a little over three weeks, and is colorado could have record turnouts. >> reporter: what better way to celebrated national voter registration day than with some backporch blues? >> hell oh, sir, you are registered to vote? >> reporter: denver election set up a tent in civic center park. it's seen more than 1,000 new registrations in just the last 24 hours.

debate ended to midnight. >> a local twitter account here in denver, and it said come down to civic park and register. >> reporter: he doesn't typically vote. >> i feel like this is something i need to do this year. >> reporter: the number of active voters is up 125,000 over 2014, and the democratic party is seeing the most growth. there are nearly 80,000 more active democrats over the last two years, just 27,000 more republic outnumber democrats but by less than 2,000. despite the two unpopular presidential candidates in history, secretary of state wayne williams says colorado ans are motivated to vote. >> and you see that excitement from people some of whom haven't been excited and some people are excited against a particular candidate on either side. >> reporter: he says voter turnout is always higher in presidential years.

>> we have had stye wide races decided by just over 100 votes. so your vote very well make dafrns. >> they say if you don't vote, you can't complain. just making sure my voice is heard. >> facebook also helping boost registration numbers. it posted a registration reminder on its news feed friday and statewide, there were 14,000 new and updated registrations. compared to just 3,000 period thursday. a messy disagreement between breckenridge and the popular ski resort. the city council passed a lift ticket tax promising to use the new money for major partnering upgrades. now the resort is crying foul after the town decided not to build a new parking garage. matt kroschel has been following this controversy from the beginning.

when the town originally went after that lift ticket tax last year, the resort fought it. then they came up with a compromise, both sides working together on that. but it appears that that compromise and that work together attitude has been erased. it has been relaced with anger and frustration. >> reporter: >> i think this is bad. i don't like this. it doesn't makeng mayor of breckenridge fun. >> we feel like we've been let down on a trust issue. >> reporter: a compare a chief operating officer facing off over an issue most thought was settled. >> they're coming up with this line that it was all about a parking structure. and that is not the truth. >> reporter: breckenridge resort officials launching a public campaign demanding the town construct a new parking garage, something they say was promised. the town changing

that garage. instead directing the new lift tax money to the transportation spending. >> we are pressing ahead with what we feel is the needs of the community and trying to fix these problems that we have. and it is a real shame that the ski area is now deciding that they don't want to be part of the solution >> reporter: for the resort it comes down to that garage f. it's not built, they say they won't back down to pressure. >> the parking structure was the core of the debate, and the for it now. so no, we don't think it's fair to change and move away from this process. >> reporter: a resort town fighting over how to handle the major parking problems here, creating tension as the ski season is only months away. >> reporter: the town right now is paying for more studies on parking and is transportation here. they're waiting for that information to come back, and they're directing a lot of those funds toward improving their bus services. as for the resort,

they're -- not an issue they're going to back down on. new information on a brush fire in jefferson county that closed highway 285 and kipling. the fire ended up being a little more than 12 acres. video of firefighters battling the fire. it was out within two hours. highway 285 did reopen around 4:00. chris spears live in the mobile weather lab in arapahoe and we're seeing dry conditions all over the metro area. >> reporter: so dry we're having to use a word we don't like to use, drought. the dry conditions are a little more of an agricultural concern. you may be noticing a little stress to your trees and yard. we've been seeing the threat for grass fires. it's hard to believe we just came through a nine-month stretch with above normal precipitation. but this past june, all that seemed to change.

turned dry in parts of colorado, including denver. the city has had just a little over 3 inches of rainfall since june. that's only 47% of normal. much of the northern and western part of colorado remains ashnormally dry, as well as a few pockets in the south and southwest. along the front range, modzerate drought has developed from denver north to fort collins, and on the eastern side of the palmer lincoln county. i brought a couple of gages from home to give you a visual of how much rain we have had at the airport since june 1st. 3.19 inches. this age on the right, how much we should have referred over the period from june to now, 6.79. huge difference. toward the mountains, the current 90-day outlook calls for no real trend

extra patrols at greeley schools because of an online threat claimed people dressed as clowns would carry out school shootings. they would happen on halloween in the area of island grove park. ketty werthmann explains parents and police are taking it seriously. >> reporter: many parents kept their kids home from school because of those threats. greeley police are investigating but authorities do not know the

a post on facebook has become a viral threat of clowns carrying out shootings at multiple greeley schools. >> i think it's just immature and stupid. >> reporter: so many of his classmates are spooked by the online threats, they didn't go to school tuesday. >> i only had five kids in all of my classes today. i think that's kind of just a waste of time for the teachers. >> this is interfering with >> reporter: his office as well as greeley police believe the threats are a hoax made by a 15-year-old student. but after several clowns were arrested in states like alabama and north carolina for make similar threats and in some threats trying to lure kids into the woods, these clown rumors are no laughing matter. >> whether somebody is using a clown to make it a joke or not,
