safety board said they might not be able to get investigators into the station until tomorrow. train damaged the building so badly, there's a large hole in the roof, water has been leaking all day, and there is possible asbestos. >> reporter: a packed commuter train barrelled into the hoboken station after it smashed through a barrier during morning rush hour. >> a horrendous exploding noise. and concrete, dust, electrical wires, and the train flying into the depot. >> reporter: the crashd under the first car. >> lights went out. just didn't stop. people were falling over. >> reporter: passengers inside helped each other escape. >> the person behind me was bloody, he had a cut on his head but was very -- wanted to make sure everyone was okay. >> reporter: officials say a woman standing on the platform was killed by falling debris.

that we lost today >> reporter: more than 100 others were hurt. around 50,000 train and bus riders use this station every night. it is a popular transfer point. >> i'm afraid to get back on the train. i'm sure staying home tomorrow. >> reporter: investigators will try to figure out what happened. >> we have no indication that this is anything other than a tragic accident. >> reporter: the engineer has been and is cooperating with investigators. >> reporter: this isn't the first time the train station has had a problem. in 2011 a different train ended up hitting the end bumper at a very high rate, and about 30 people in that case were injured then. we don't know the motive behind a shooting at an elementary school. >> one student wounded in the shooting remains in critical

powerful storm. winds ripped at least 22 transmission towers from the ground overnight. along with the storm winds and heavy rains, there were an estimated 80,000 lightning strikes! no reports of deaths or serious injuries. the northern lights lit up the skies of iceland last night. residents were asked to keep their homes dark. that helped give everyone a much clearer view of >> that doesn't even look real. reenforcements, moisture coming our way, that could change things up. clear skies over the eastern plains, chance for scattered showers over the west. hour by hour forecast, scattered showers over the mountain areas, we do have some clouds move across. tomorrow a good chance for some scattered showers. right throughout denver area, on saturday, just a few isolated showers. sunday maybe a few sprinkles over the north. otherwise pretty much in good shape with lots of se warm temperatures. we have all that moisture pushing into that big upper-level low. high pressure is helping it. at the airport, 88 degrees. hurricane matthew, was a tropical storm yesterday. now a category 1. 75 miles an hour, moving to the west. a northern turn over eastern cube aright here about tuesday, and then it could head for the u.s. coast. so we're watching this one carefully.
