we begin cbs4 news at 10:00 with a developing story. friends and family come together to remember a man who was hit and killed while riding his bicycle in larimer county. jake holden died on september 20 near carrboro lake. investigators are still searching for the driver who hit him. cbs4's melissa garcia has the latest on the investigation. and shows us the new memorial honoring holden. >> reporter: colorado state patrol investigators say they've received several tips about a driver who may have seen the car responsible for the hit and run bicyclists writing up this hill today road with flowers tucked into their backs. flowers they left here on a bike to honor a fellow rider who was hit and killed. >> i can't believe that you wouldn't know that you clipped a bicyclist. >> reporter: bright colored flowers color a white painted bike alongside larimer county road. >> i understand that it's a beautiful place to ride your bicycle. but it's also a dangerous

works nearby says passing motorists often go too fast through this scenic area. 42-year-old jason holden from birth and was riding his bicycle around this curve eastbound when a passing driver struck him and didn't stop. authorities believe holden then tumbled into the westbound lane when he was hit by another vehicle. that driver did stop but it was too late. >> it's really heartbreaking that there's not a better way for everybody to just share the road. it's so crowded up here and so dangerous. there's so much traffic. >> reporter: cyclists from across northern colorado came together for a vigil saturday from fort collins to the side of holden's death to dedicate his ghost bike. a reminder to everyone who passes by to be more careful. >> the vehicles, got to be extra cautious. >> reporter: a gofundme account has been set up to help the family. we have that information on our website at cbsdenver.com. melissa garcia, cbs4 news.

vehicle crash that sent four people to the hospital this afternoon. this was the scene at wadsworth and yale. you can see one of the two vehicles involved hit a ball. denver police officers say at least one of the passengers suffered serious injuries. no word yet on what caused that crash. right now new rules are in effect for colorado's marijuana industry. they changed the way pot is packaged and sold. en behind the changes? >> reporter: well, the changes come after complaints that edibles are sold at shops like this one looked too much like actual candy. so the new rules are aimed at keeping edibles out of kids hands. starting this month, marijuana product makers in colorado will have to include a new universal stamp. not just on their packaging but also on each individual serving

recreational going to be excavation marks with thc. >> reporter: manager samantha black showed cbs4 thc infused chocolate containing the numark. colorado set its new rules to make identifying thc easier. >> now you don't have to taste or smell or look into that product as much because it will be labeled that this is a marijuana infused product. >> reporter: in addition to adding the symbol, all new labels must read keep out of reach of children. candy. cannot claim health benefits. and must include information about its potency. >> in a sense it is a good thing. however in a sense it is also -- i don't want to say a struggle but it is a lot of money to go out to make sure that all your bottles that you previously had are now updated correctly. >> reporter: finally the new rules limit how much marijuana concentrate can be purchased at

while manufacturers have to start complying right away, shop owners have a window. they can keep selling product without the new stamp onto the end of november. next year, colorado goes one step further banning all edibles that are made in the shape of fruit, animals or humans. live in denver tonight, lauren dispirito, cbs4 news. the denver police department says it needs more money to of pounds of marijuana it now sees as each year. dpd is asking the city for more than $125,000 to pay for two more workers in the property bureau. the department told the denver post instead of finding 15 to 20 plants in somebody's basement, officers are now finding 1000 to 1500 plants in a warehouse. a homicide investigation is underway in denver's capitol hill neighborhood.

colfax near pennsylvania. two people were shot. one later died at the hospital. tonight officers are still searching for the gunman. brian maass learned that shooting was just one of many reports of shots fired that kept denver police officers busy last night. >> reporter: police say this started as a disturbance. escalating to shooting. >> investigators are working to piece together the circumstances that led up to it. as well as to try to identify who the suspect is. >> reporter: at the fired all across denver. >> my grandma woke me up. she said she heard gunshots. one in the morning. >> reporter: near 31st and lafayette, arturo said his grandmother woke him up after a series of shots. >> around eight or nine. she doesn't remember. because it was like 1:00 a.m. >> reporter: gunshots? >> yes. >> it made me feel unsafe because once i hear the gunshots, all of us have to go down. >> reporter: that's right. it happens often enough that

his family hit the deck when they hear gunfire. >> we turn off the tv and turn off the lights and lay down on the floor. >> reporter: in southwest denver, residents woke up to find these flyers from denver police. letting them know there was overnight gunfire in their neighborhood too. >> it's very scary. and that's when you turn off the lights and close the curtains. >> reporter: frankie casias has lived in west denver 18 years and says the shooting has gotten worse. >> a little neighbor that used to live in the third door had a bullet go through her kitchen window. >> reporter: while bullets found here in other neighborhoods, they worry it's only a matter of time. >> pretty scary. yeah. pretty scary because usually there's a lot of criminals around here or thieves. like that. and lots of action. >> reporter: brian maass, cbs4 news.

election. both candidates are fighting to earn votes in key swing states including colorado. this afternoon arizona governor jan brewer was in our state leading a get of the vote effort for donald trump. she spoke in adams county. voters typically support democratic candidates but adams is now considered a battleground county. governor brewer believes it is because the working class is supporting trump. >> donald trump indeed is the candidate of all people. he wants us all to be susf tired of the same old same old that we've had. and they want change. and they don't want an insider. they want an outsider and someone that speaks their mind. >> trump was back on the campaign trail today, he rallied voters in pennsylvania while opening a new -- a new line of attack on hillary clinton. >> at a rally saturday night in pennsylvania, donald trump brought attention to a leaked recording of hillary clinton. in which she appears to speak

>> a new audiotape shows her demeaning and mocking bernie sanders and all of his supporters. >> reporter: in the recording clinton sympathizes with young voters frustrations but also says -- >> some are children of the great recession and they are living in their parents basement. >> reporter: delete audio comes after clinton called out trump for his tweets against a former miss universe. >> it proves yet again is temperamentally unfit to be president and commander in chief! >> reporter: cybersecurity is now becoming an issue in the campaign. hackers have gained access to some state voting systems. the department of homeland security says there is no evidence that information has been manipulated. but there is potential for more hacking attacks. trump will campaign in colorado next week with rallies in loveland and pueblo on monday.

new developments after a school shooting in south carolina. a six-year-old boy who was hurt during the attack has died. jacob hall died in the hospital today. he was one of three people shot wednesday at an elementary school. jacob's mother says the bullet struck an artery which led to a massive blood loss and a brain injury. this afternoon she spoke with the media about jacobs life.

forgives already. he's in heaven smiling down at us. and he's asking his mommy to be able to be strong to forgive just like he would have. >> the other two victims have been released from the hospital. investigators say the gunman is a 14-year-old who killed his father at home before coming to the school. the suspect will now likely face two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder. here's the latest the investigation into a deadly train crash in new jersey. one woman was killed and more than 100 people injured thursday. when the commuter train crashed into a bumper at a station and went airborne. today the ntsb interviewed the train's engineer thomas gallagher. but investigators have yet to access the trains data recorder. debris and possible asbestos contamination at the crash site are preventing crews from gathering more evidence. developing tonight the u.s. government is giving up control of the so-called internet address book.

for internet users worldwide. >> reporter: no one owns the internet. but for nearly 20 years u.s. government has controlled the official list of every website address. as of today the government's control is no more. the job now belongs solely to a nonprofit based in los angeles and advised by a global committee that includes china, russia, and iran. when you look at the website your computer information on another machine. like one of these. and it uses a unique identifying number a bit like a home address. for the internet. if i can -- if icann deletes an address it could delete a website. a threat that caught the eye of texas senator ted cruz. >> russia, china and iran don't have a first amendment. they don't protect free speech. and they actively censor the internet. icann could do the same thing putting ridden countries in charge of what you can say

countdown to the day america quote gives away the internet. donald trump campaign joined him. hoping to save the internet. but in a statement, stephen crocker praised his group's inclusion of all voices. and said the fear is missed placed. tech writer ingrid bergman is an expert on the structure and she agrees. >> ted cruz's under the impression we owned the internet to begin with and user should have no worries about this transition? tomorrow morning your internet is going to keep working the same way it has. >> reporter: cbs news, new york. right now hurricane matthew is moving across the caribbean after drenching parts of columbia. it is now threatening jamaica, haiti and cuba. matthew had strengthened to a category five storm on friday. making it the strongest hurricane in the atlantic ocean

to a category four. let's go to meteorologist dave aguilera. do we know if the hurricane will hit the u.s.? >> we don't know for sure yet. all the models are indicating is going to be awfully close. and if it does, this could be really problematic from florida all the way up to southern new york. if the models pan out correctly. here's the storm as you were talking about at this point yesterday, category five and then overnight we can somewhat. just wobbling around south of haiti at this point. 340 miles south of port-au- prince, only about seven miles per hour. here is the latest predicted path on this. this is the tone of influence, if you will. it should sometime monday morning, cross haiti at least the west side of haiti. and then by tuesday evening, cross the east side of cuba. maybe as a category three hurricane. if we follow the weather models, it puts it off the coast of florida. here is florida.

end up, matthew, will end up. right up here are the carolinas up here. so if it continues on that track, the carolinas from raleigh all the way up into washington, dc have the potential of this hurricane making landfall. there's no real big storm system coming in to skirt it out to see. so this is really a big worry for the east coast. we'll have to see. right now it looks like friday into last weekend it will be really close to that area. tonight we have a few showers go divide but nothing severe but a few showers lingering tonight. thunderstorms earlier this evening. now we are watching a big trough of low pressure off the coast of california. that's going to start to scoot this way. high-pressure for the weekend at least the start of next week will hold it up here, high over texas moving slightly to the east. but it's going to take a wow. sunday looks pretty good. monday looks good but it will be windy as the jet stream starts to move into colorado. and here's the big trough that

and maybe a little bit of moisture by them. high today was hot. almost summerlike. 80 degrees for the afternoon. normal high is 72 this time of year. we're at 62 out there right now. bob maccabee in brush cut this dust devil here. with the heat rising up into a cool pocket. sometimes you get a little swirl on some of that moisture going up or just going up i should say. tomorrow we'll be clear across the state with a few isolated thunderstorms. but denver i think will stay dry. tonight looking for 54 for the overnight low. partly cloudy and tomorrow high temperature right around 80 degrees again. breezy at times and mostly sunny. looking ahead, 80 on monday, and then we cool off two thursday, 50 degrees with a few showers. and we keep it cool into the
