it is sunday, october 2. this is the news on cbs4. an update to a troubling story at a pebble -- pueblo where people were allegedly tortured and abuse. strachan with a deadly officer involved shooting in california stirs up more controversy. what happened when police tried we are concerned about making sure the type of incident so we see across the nation do not happen here. colorado and's sitdown with local law enforcement about race in recent police shootings. live from colorado's news channel, this is cbs4 morning news. good sunday morning to you.

we will have more other stories but first, let's get a check on your weather with dave aguilera. good morning. here we are, the first sunday of october. it will feel more like august around here. we have a warm day on the way and a warming trend before he called outcomes in the week ahead. if you were headed out, it is beautiful outside. it is 55 and stapleton. before in lewis bill this morning. our weather watchers are checking in this morning. just a good-looking morning. as we look at the map, yestda had a shower thunderstorm go through albert county and parts of douglas county as well. a weather watcher parker had about a 10th of an inch. that is washed out. we are clear this morning. we are starting out nicely. here is our forecast. mostly sunny. mostly sunny by noon prepare warming up to 75. we should have a high today of 81 degrees. that is above normal for this time of year by 10 degrees.

thunderstorm coming off of the foothills. it is really small, kelly. i do not count on a whole bunch of rain for many of those that do develop. it will be a mostly sunny day today. not too shabby. in the weekend, we do have a major change coming. will talk about that in a bit. new details about a center for the disabled in the middle of an abuse scandal. ever -- governor john luper said an independent reporter will be some residents at the pueblo regional center had die or kill scratch into their kill -- scan. employees blanket on paranormal activity. some employees were fired and they are improving staff training. mesa county sheriff's deputies say that a body of a man who went missing last week has been found.

last weekend and did not. crews look for him for days west of to back. they found his body just south of that area. officials are waiting for toxicology results to determine how he did. information about a crash that sent for people to the hospital. it happened yesterday at wadsworth and jail. one of the vehicles involved that hit a pole see from this video, it is a pretty gnarly crash. one of the passengers did suffer serious injuries. it is not clear what caused the collision. friends and family came together to remember a man who was hit and killed while riding his bike in larimer county. j holden did last month near carter lake. the driver who initially it m is still on the run. our melissa garcia shows us the new memorial honoring holden. through colorado state patrol investigators say they received several trips -- tips about it driver who may have seen the hit and run.

across northern colorado came together for a vigil ride from fort collins to the site of his death to dedicate his ghost bike. a reminder to everyone who passes by to be more careful. >> people come down around this corner in the vehicles, and you have to be extra cautious. a gofundme account has been set up to help the family. we have that information on our website@cbsdenver.com. a developing story. we first brought you as breaking news yesterday morning the shooting suspect was shot and killed in the capitol hill neighborhood. police responded to colfax your pennsylvania where two men were shot sometime around 2 am. one of those men died at the hospital. please have not released any information about a suspect. this morning, california is rocked by another officer- involved shooting. this happened yesterday in los angeles. police say this started when officers tried to pull over a car that had temporary license plates. they suspected it was stolen.

a passenger did get out and run into a home where he was shot and killed. police have not said what led up to the shooting. the driver is still on the run. this as protesters filled the streets last night, even gathering outside of the mayor's home. new video from seattle shows dozens of people they are protesting recent police shootings. up to the -- up to 1000 people came together yesterday inside and near a shopping center as well as near safeco field. for writers, but there is not been reports of violence. community springs top -- met to talk about the fatal shootings in the events across the country. they said that the incidence need to be addressed in our own backyard. the community was encouraged to ask tough questions.>> reporter: sheriff police -- the

have been having these meetings frequently. they asked the panel about cultural misunderstandings and how they are working to bridge that gap. >> i'm more concerned about making sure the type of incidents that we see across the nation do not happen here in colorado springs. i needed to be here to hear what was going on in to ask those pertinent questions. >> reporter: sheriff elder responded to the crowd stating that when he took office, he started a different approach to cultural build relationships. he said he is been trying to work with church leaders to work problems from a different angle because the majority of our community is connected by faith. >> it is important so that we can build relationships to locally bridge a gap that we know exists between our community and public safety that hopefully we can have a better understanding of one another. >> reporter: as a city that is seen tragedy ourselves, chief carey says it is essential to

-- right now, more than 100 earthquakes rattled the salton sea area in seattle last week. they increase the probability of a major quake hitting southern california in the next few days. it is propping an earthquake advisory warning for several communities. dan lin reports from the bay area. >> instead of hearing this, very soon all of us could be sending this alert. earthquake. earthquake. moderate shaking expected in 21 seconds. >> reporter: it is meant to save your life in a major earthquake getting a little bit of time to get to safety. some areas already use the earthquake warning system to prevent dealt -- derailment.

high-pressure ridge that is developing over the central rockies. this is holding everything up. there is a big low-pressure trough off of the coast of california. you can see the leading edge of that cool air already making it into utah. this will be swinging through here in changing our weather. today, we will be mild and warm. tomorrow, same deal. is that jet stream goes monday will be a windy day. we will have to worry about fire danger as well. tuesday morning, the cold change comes in and the second half of next week, we will be very cool. one day before we finish next week, we may have a mix of rain /snow mix. before that happens, for monday, with the weather coming in, we have a fire weather watch on the east side near part of adamson raffled county shooting out to the northeast. there's a red flag warning already in the return --

of an inch of rain out of that thunderstorm that popped up. we need more. we may get it next week. high pressure of the central rockies. keeping things warm today. it will get wendy later today and into tomorrow, the way that things are looking. there's a big trough of low pressure in the pacific northwest that will bring a weather maker in the weeks ahead. we will see the jet stream start to move. tomorrow. tomorrow night and into tuesday, the call change roles in. that will stick around for quite some time. it may bring a chance of rain and rain mixed with snow before we are done with next week the way that things are looking. ahead of this, for tomorrow, the fire dangers are going to go way up across eastern colorado. from east of denver all the way out to the planes in trinidad, we have advisories for that 35 mile an hour winds and low humidity that will pop up. today, we will see breezy
