authority field at mile high with the latest. andrea? >> reporter: well, we know he was rushed by ambulance to the hospital for flu-like symptoms. he is being evaluated as a precaution. >> cbs 4 is learning more about broncos head coach kubiak's health scare following sunday's loss against the falcons. sunday night a spokesperson for the broncos tweeted that he had flu-like symptoms, was taken the hospital as a precaution and was under evaluation. this is not the first time that he has experienced a health- related issue on game-day. in 2013, kubiak, then head coach for the texans suffered a ministroke and collapsed while walking off of the field at halftime during the game against the colts. >> since then, a representative for the broncos says that he has paid strict attention to

a gunman was taken into custody this morning after a 12 hour standoff with law enforcement. he is accused of killing officer jose gilbert vega. a 35 year veteran of the police force and a father of 8. another woman died, she just returned to work four months after giir together for a vigil in honor of the fallen officers. this as at investigation into the deadly shooting continues. >> to see her laying down -- [crying] -- with ... >> reporter: a palm springs police chief talked about the impact officers ve ga and ziega had on the department. >> i have two officers now

now walking in the footsteps of two more heroes. >> reporter: they were gunned down while responding to a domestic disturbance on saturday. 26-year-old john feelics fired his weapon through a closed door. hitting 3 officers. the gunman was taken into custody after a 12 hour standoff. a s.w.a.t. team used a chemical agent to force him out of his home. >> he emerged. he had a number capacity magazines on his person. >> he served on a plot. >> he has a history. if the officers knew him or not. i can not answer that. he is not to the justice system. >> he will face 2 counts of first-degree murder of a peace officer. prosecutors will now determine recall to pursuit the death penalty. >> i consider a brutal murder

noticed his bedroom was filled with smoke. >> it smells awful. i looked over and my phone is on fire. the phone is supposed to be the replacement. it was not plugged in or anything. it was just sitting there. >> he felt sick later in the day and he was diagnosed with acute bronchitis. he is seeking legal help because he says sam sung is not giving him enough answers. new video showing a fire that burned several buildings it carolina. the fire broke out saturday night and continued to burn this morning. of the flames spread to 4 buildings on oceanfront property. the area is within the e vac waeugz zone for hurricane matthew. it is believed no one was injury in the buildings when that fire started. matthew is blamed for 18 deaths in the southeast and starting tomorrow volunteers from the red cross in colorado will head to the effected areas to help with hurricane relief. cbs news correspondent don
