6:31 pm
we will get through it. the first time we have had to do this after a broncos loss instead of victory. the team actually at practice now. so mike schlereth. >> absolutely. >> a lot of news today. it started yesterday with gary kubiak being taken to the hospital after the game. john elway met with the media, joe d interim coach. >> there is no question joe d is a great coach, he is a guy that is a fiery leader, no question about that. and also i think in a short week you don't want to pull your coordinators out to become the interim head coach and put more of an emphasis on that defensively and offensively, so it does make sense to me. it is an interesting move. i didn't expect it, but it does make sense on the surface that you kind of big deep.
6:32 pm
onus is on us to go out and win this game. how much of an impact will this have. >> here is a thing about a butt whopping they took. you have to look in those situations you wipe this one away, you don't have time to go back and look at it. but there is nothing more em bar raszing you give up a sack. that's one of the deals i got beat physically get bludgeoned like theying got bludgeoned yesterday, they are wiping their wounds and want to wipe that taste out. >> before we talk about thursdayed, let's go back to yesterday's game. paxton lynch, the rookie getting his start. cold hard facts, his numbers, one touchdown, one interception and the bing one, six sacks, certain a tough day at the
6:33 pm
because we lost, but, you know, i'm kind of happy that i got the first one under my belt, my first start with these guys and have a chance to play with them. if i got put in a situation again, know how to handle it better than i did the first time. so i'm glad i got the experience, but i'm also upset that we didn't come away with the win. >> lots to get to with paxton's game, let's start with his >> when you start looking at footwork and putting him behind sent e things he hasn't been used to in his time in college you're welcomes saw all that come together where he couldn't be in sink. that was the biggest thing for him, you are trying to put him in under center because you want to operate your offense. you don't want to operate it under shotgun because you eliminate your run plays, you
6:34 pm
you couldn't do that and ultimately he wasn't in sink in that style of offense. >> how did you grade his presence in the pocket. >> i thought he had poor pocket presence and you know what? you look at the six sacks and obviously there was a lot of breakdowns upfront. there is no question about that. but holding the ball, not being sure with the ball, lack of sense of timing, all those things came together in this sense of how much time he had back there and that comes with being a rookie. >> getten beat every other tackle. >> they played poorly upfront and that is part of the deal, they struggled there. but also struggled as offense because they never got in sink, they did not run the ball and twhaen's the case -- when that's the case and you have to sit
6:35 pm
dictating, i always say let's take the pass out of the pass protection. they couldn't run the ball they couldn't be physical. so those are the thing that is happen to you in those scenarios. tyson played horribly and he ended up being pulled because of that, we understand that. but the rest of the offense didn't do anything to help out a guy that was struggling and that's an issue. >> should they give you help. they try to give you body presence, sometimes you get beat to quickly and try to establish the run. >> what is it about this team that they can't establish the run? we saw them try to do it well, but the last three games they haven't been able to establish the run at all. >> obviously they have been shuffling around guys inside and out and i think the inside guys have not played as well. max garcia is a guy that has
6:36 pm
has consistently struggled. some mistakes mentally have led to physical mistakes. in short, skwagss dictate what i call being able to dictate the game. in that situation they haven't been able to do that. those things consistently have broken down for them recently and they have got to get those things squared away. >> don stephenson's absence. >> yeah. >> live stats and scores at the touch of happen right on your tv while you watch the game. check it out on xfinity. we are just starting out. when we come back, what was up

6:40 pm
the linebackers the broncos would make an adjustment. the running backs had their way with the bronco's defense. >> this is a copy cat league, so you will have people do that, get into these heavy personnel groupings and try to exploit the denver broncos. they have more coverage than any team in the national football league, but this out of theac at some point you are looking at are you going to make an adjustment, are you going to man coverage instead of man to man. but you got to go all the way back to the championship game because the game plan didn't change. when you are talking about james white and danny, this is the first time we missed danny treapin as a free agent, almost the entirety of the game he did such a good job and allowed the

the afc championship. this week it didn't work. >> todd davis and brandon marshall had a time trying to defend those. the defensive line wasn't better. >> it was not. offense coming in here with crowd noise and say we are not intimidated by you guys. we are going to take it to you guys and they did. they took it to the denver guys did not get off blocks. they got consistently. they owned the line of scrimmage and we got trounsed. >> snapped the winning streak. it has been 10 months since they lost a football game. how do you get your mind right? >> last time back to back. how do they get their mind right. >> the only way is to go back
6:42 pm
and when you get embarrassed liabling that -- and listen, anybody who has -- like that -- listen, you are going to get physically whopped sometimes, it happens, and the best thing is to get back on the field. this is short week is the best thing that could happen. you are right back out there and you want to prove to the nation on national television thursday night that what you saw on sunday was not the denver broncos, so you want to go out there and be able to prove those things. so it's good they are going out and plague right away. >> how much affect the bodies? >> it's incredibly difficult. it is such hypocrisy when they talk about hey, safety is our no. 1 priority, let's play on thursday night. it is hard for everybody, you got to go out there and gut it up. >> san diego on wednesday. we got plenty more to come, but
