away. down here at city park. jennifer brice live the lake in city park for us tonight. the suspect told you he just moved here from tennessee to get a fresh start? >> reporter: he said he was actually staying with friends at the time, just in the last couple days but monday night he admits that he caused a deadly hit-and-run crash and later wound up here in this lake swimming and naked. we spoke with tyler white today from jail. >> killed somebody and i was asking for forgiveness. >> reporter: he admits he was speeding when four cars christ. the woman in this previous was killed. the speed limit here is 35 miles an hour. >> i was going 90 miles an hour. >> reporter: why were you going 90 miles an hour? >> being stupid. >> reporter: he smoked pot, a few hours earlier, but did not feel hi. >> you got behind the wheel of a car knowing you had smoked marijuana. did that sound like a good

when i was driving. i got it out of my system. you smoke and a couple hours later, it's going to be out your system. wasn't like i was stoned to death driving. >> reporter: toxicology reports and downloadable crash data from white's car will now be part of their investigation. also trying to figure out how white got to the lake in city park. >> if anyone did pick this guy up by mistake and thought they were helping somebody and didn't realize what he had been involved in, appreciate them getting in touch with us. >> reporter: they found white naked in the lake. white remembers the crash even waking up but says he thought he was dead. >> do you remember how you got there or why you didn't have your clothes on? >> i really don't remember. like something took over me and told me to go there. i never mean to kill anybody. i just hope that the family

we have a nice view of the continental divide and we can see some showers forming in the mountains. trying to spill over. while we'll see a handful of showers here and there, that will not be the story. it will be this. take a look at the temperatures. around colorado, we've had a very warm day well above average in many areas. well into the 60s and 70s, even 80s, a little cool in the higher elevations but take a to the north, we showed you the air, coming our way. much of wyoming has spent the day in the 30s and 40s. strong cold front coming through. back out here live we have some showers popping up in places along the eastern plains. we can see that on radar. we'll see a little bit of this but the big story is the temperature change. coming up in just a minute meteorologist lauren whitney will give you your full forecast. in evergreen, i'm chris spears, cbs4 news. now to new details after two teenagers are shot after

yard. one teenager has died. the other is in critical condition. the homeowner accused of pulling the trigger may have been trying to protect his hot plants. the home is in the 2800 block of high street near 26th in york. tom mustin live in the neighborhood tonight, that homeowner now facing some serious charges. >> reporter: including first- degree murder. denver police tell us that teenagers tried to climb over the fence to steal a man's pot a decision proved deadly. >> within a minute or two, the cops were here, -- >> reporter: scott woke up this morning -- sunday morning to the sound of gunfire. in the whittier neighborhood. >> we heard the shots go off. there was about six initially and then a little break and then two more. >> reporter: denver police got a call from a 14-year-old saying he had been shot and his 15-year-old friend keelan mosley was dead. police used shot spotter

in the backyard of this home. allegedly shot by 48-year-old keith hammock after climbing his fence and trying to steal his illegal outdoor pot plants. >> we proceeded to watch you know, the ambulance come and wheel off two individuals. >> reporter: the 14-year-old is in critical condition. and may be paralyzed. police say hammock told them the teens jumped over the fence and found them lying on the ground. offiat near hammock's second floor window. officers arrested hammock on first-degree murder, attempted murder and illegal cultivation of marijuana charges. he recently caught two need -- two teenagers breaking into his backyard. >> we've had a couple kids tried to break into our yard and try to get our bikes. wonder if it was the same kids. that's really sad. >> reporter: he believes no matter what happens, the suspect should pay. >> oh, man.

hillary clinton hosting tomorrow in pueblo, it's at the palace of agriculture at the colorado state fairgrounds. new developments now in the investigation into the death of a man by a police officer in tulsa, oklahoma. a medical examiner this afternoon says that man terence crutcher did have pcp in his system when he died last month. police officer betty jo shelby is charged with first-degree manslaughter for crutcher's death. prosecutors allege she reacted unreasonably when he disobeyed her commands. hopefully the drive home is running smoother for thousands of drivers. cdot had to close all but one lane of northbound i 25 at alameda. if you are stuck, this was the problem. a truck spilled debris all over the highway. took nearly six hours to get all of this mess cleaned up. all lanes open just before noon. rescues continue as flooding rivers still have yet to crest in north carolina. the distance one man traveled

they were given digital cameras and a job. cbs4's kathy walsh joins us now. you got to see them at work. >> i did. this was a fun task and very telling get the kids were photojournalists for a day. asked to basically picture what they want for the future. >> [ yelling ] >> reporter: cameras for kids. surprises that come with an assignment. >> i feel happy. i'm nervous, though. it's my first time doing this. >> reporter: shot at photography. the task is to snap pictures of your hopes and dreams. >> to believe in myself. and to help homeless kids. >> reporter: the kids given the cameras are homeless. most live at the salvation army lynbrook family center. this pictures of hope program is the creation of photographer linda solomon. >> you can see a dream, it puts you on the path to achievement. >> reporter: the children are paired with mentors, 6-year-old jaylynn dreams of being a cop.

look at our northern part of the state, granby through rocky mountain national park, some rain and snow, a line of thunderstorms all the way from yampa through range the area. lightning near meeker as well. a look south of i-70 along i-70 you're going to hit rain and snow near fairplay aspen crested butte, and mountain areas there is no out there, someone tweeted me a picture of the snow near the tunnels. really big, fat flakes out there. we also have a wider look across the country this is our area of low pressure working its way through along with a cold front so we get this storm ahead of that and also rain in parts of the midwest but most of the southeast is fairly mild. cold front working its way through overnight tonight, there will be some showers, maybe a little bit of rain here in denver early tomorrow morning. the cold front really sweeps through by tomorrow and with that comes massively cooler temperatures 20 degrees in some areas. tomorrow you may actually need the jacket. it's been t-shirt weather lately. futurecast used to have rain

the overnight hours. starts to clear by tomorrow morning but there could be a little bit of rain early on for us in denver, western slope dry out a lot from this. tomorrow morning to could be fog in the foothills also out on the eastern plains. maybe a bit here in denver and then tomorrow clouds start to clear it may be a few more into the evening hours. we really do look at a fairly mellow day tomorrow behind the front, just get cold temperatures and tonight called as well, 37 in greeley, 37 out in burlington and in ray, 39 illegal and frisco, 46 over in tomorrow, upper 50s, so a big difference from today, 20 degrees drop for denver, 58 in denver, 57 greeley 55 burlington, 66 in meeker, and we have 60s out to our west and for our five-day forecast tomorrow, 50s and then back to the 70s on thursday, and on friday, we're in the 80s again. so it doesn't last long. >> no, it doesn't. back in the 80s. exactly. thanks, lauren. voting from the grave, more
